we should actually set screens for him to come off and shoot.

we should do a 2 man game clear-out on one side on the basket with KP and MELO

I would limit his post up attempts , he can build on that gets stronger in the future

It seems to me that how they use KP is pretty much all over the floor. It's pretty balanced overall. Some Curls, PnR, Post ups, Spot up 3's etc. Perhaps when he's tired he's a bit less active and he has just come off the Upper Respiratory Infection.

The other night when the Thunder needed a bucket, they ran KD off a screen for a easy 15 footer. Why not do more of that when we need more scoring or the 2 man game should be a no brainer that we run 10 times a game. Unfortunately we do it maybe once a game

I think its safe to say he is our best shooter, probably the best since maybe Kiki Vandeweghe at the tail end of his career.

It just seems that we should get him more open shots on the perimeter. He's lethal when he's set and has space.

He does poorly with his whirling dervish looping half hook drives to the basket.

Briggs will be chiming in soon......We've had several discussions on this. Some want him to play down low like Shaq....others like myself want him to play like himself......Which is a little of everything.

And eventhough he's a good shooter, I still think Novak was slightly better (at least from 3 pt range), which is why I don't understand how we let him slip by. Novak and Lin was perfect together. One attacked the rim, because the other created space with his shooting. KP's value is more on defense than offense. His offense will evolve, but his defense is what I like the most. Not as a 1 on 1 defender, but a blind side shot blocker. GS would do wonders with KP and Green on the floor together. All we need is a Green type big man, who can has enough lateral quickness and strength to guard multiple positions, including center. Right now, KP isn't strong enough to be a full time center, and we don't know if he will be anytime soon. But pair KP with Green from GS as an example, and you will cause problems for every team.

KP needs to face the basket and use his height to take a clear shot over his defender. When he brings the ball down to dribble past a defender, he makes himself 6'3", instead of a seven footer. In the beginning, he looked as if he would have some success with the bank shot, but looks like he abandoned it. Also, that half hook shot that Lopez shoots might be a great addition to his repertoire.

It's like he just became 7'3 a few months ago.....His game hasn't adapted to his height yet. But it will in time. He's in the NBA now, and I'm sure thats all people are telling him. At 7'3 with a jumper, it's imposible for anybody to contest his shot in time, when he faces up in a triple threat position. Amari was good at that, just like most bigs....But Duncan and others are also veterans....Dirk is a veteran.....It just takes time!

KP arsenal is a little two large for him right now. He's got a ton of options, but hasnt really established a goto aside from that jumper. It will all come in time. There isnt a shot I dont want him taking through. He should shoot the 3, the long 2, post up, mid jumpers off curls... just keep on keeping on and let the experience pile up.

I agree....short term, just let that bird flap his wings. Long term, he'll have to decide on what he should focus on. And it might be based on Phils long term vision of the team.

I'm a similar player that can do it all. And I remember one year we lost out 3 pt shooter. So I spent all summer learning how to be a catch and shoot player. KP has the abilities to become whatever we need him to be. And right now we don't know what we want as a team yet.....And we don't know who we are going to add next year, who could be another corner stone. Thats the beauty and curse of having multiple skills.

I love how Breen just goes gaga over anything KP does.

Phil as a player led the NCAA in Scoring but in the NBA was too slow. His back surgery also limited him.
That said, he adapted to what he could do and had a very nice career. His quote about "being too tall" makes sense given that as good as KP's handle is, he is too tall to dribble effective cuz little guys are going to disrupt him. He does play like a smaller player. While the sky is the limit with this kid its important he play under control which would help him from injury, and play with a grace. This is What Duncan has done as did kareem before him.

Ewing out of college was an amazing athlete but he prolonged his career with learning the fundamentals as he got stronger but lost his quickness.

I have compared him to Ralph Sampson who was smoother than KP but ralph got injured perhaps relying on quickness too much.
I am not sure what to do with KP but I like the fact they are playing him on the parameter for now and let him find his space.

I have literally ZERO concern over how the Knicks will decide to develop or use KP. This is Phil Jackson we're talking about. Dude had so much success with Big men that it's not even something to worry about. KP's versatility is even more than Pau so I can only imagine what he'll be able to do as he matures. Right now they use KP all over the place but they aren't forcing him to do anything he can't do. Seems like a good approach. Sure he gets lost in the offense a bit too much right now but that will get better as KP continues to learn and gain more confidence in what he wants to do. He doesn't even know what his best move is gonna be yet. Sometimes you can see him get crossed up in how he wants to try and attack a defender.

I completely forgot about Novak- but then he has dropped off the map completely.
