Jose - good on offense when he's looking for his shot, allows him to create better for others. terrible on defense - old and slow.
Arron - sometimes mamba on offense, sometimes invisible...no consistency, and on defense....just OK. poorer than advertised.
Galloway - inconsistent on offense, probably our best guard in transition, inconsistent on defense as well, nights where he can defend anyone and times where he cannot stop anyone.
Grant - terrible on offense, has one move...drive to the right of the basket trying to bank the shot. one of our better guards on defense, but still inconsistent.
Sasha - understands triangle offense more than any other guard on the team, but inconsistent on shooting (better as of late). inconsistent on defense as well, again better effort overall as of late.

We are not winning any playoff series with this kind of guard play, and that is IF we make the playoffs.
Phil and Fisher have to see this.
If they have resigned themselves to let Melo's contract run out, then letting Galloway and Grant continue stumble and learn makes sense. If they want to do something worthwhile during Melo's tenure here, then we need a point guard who distributes better than ThisMelo at point forward and is able to defend.

Unless Fisher and Phil have their eye on some college prospect for next year that will immmediately reap dividends, the Gallo-Grant point guard experiment does not make sense.
They have to decide if they are trying to win now and realize that we need to trade for a more proven commodity.
Honestly...we would have to give up someone like DWill or LT for that.

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

We must sign some guards this offseason. Batum, Bazemore, Chalmers, Lin to name a few.

I wish we had Lin, and he was eminently attainable for us in the off season.

We have no assets to deal that will get us anything back. Derrick Williams, with an opt out, isn't going to get us anything much.

If we can sell and build for the future at the deadline, do it. Otherwise, do our best to make the play offs this year, then take it next year and try to add another talent with our draft pick.

Mentioned it in the game thread, but I wouldnt mind seeing Grant play the 2 for stretches. He's too often overthinking things, letting opportunities on the court pass him by. Playing SG would give Jerian one less thing to worry about and allow him to focus on his offense. Might make things easier if Grant can get his game going, then transition back to the point.

Still has to work on his explosiveness under the rim.

Ricky Ledo is lighting up the D league recently. Shooting threes too. Has that ship sailed?

Of course you do.
Rondo can't shoot well and will do it his way. Not the Knicks way.
Lavine is an athlete but clueless and Noah breaks easy.

If Lavine can shake loose he could be a worthy project.

Rondo can't shoot? He sure as hell is not getting his points by dunking http://m.espn.go.com/nba/playercard?playerId=3026&src=desktop

Don't care. The long armed brilliant mind with borderline personality disorder can stay with Boogie and Karl and drive each other crazy in SAC.
Don't confuse talent with improvement. This guy plays a certain way which is fine but our team runs a certain type of offense. If he is compatable with our culture I say go for it. I don't see this, so I say no.

Lavine is a great athlete but from what I have read he is driving his coach crazy with a lack of fundamentals and sort of poster child for AAU and whats wrong.
He would be a project in my view but one worthy of a gamble. Question is at what price?

Its why I like what we are doing with Derek Williams, sort of his "second coming". He had to wash out and be unrestricted to get him.

He's not much of a shooter but he'll have his games like last night where he went 6-10 FG and 4-4 from 3 pint land.

I'd take Rondo and so wouldn't Melo since he was trying to get him to come to New York two years ago. He would make everyone else's game easier and give people open shots.

Knicks guards suck, sky is blue, what else you got?

We haven't had a sniff at half decent guard play since an asian with spikey hair had a good 2 week run and we came a pubic hair short of drafting Stephen Curry.

If you have a team with one player worthy to be in NBA it takes time to build anything decent.
We find some OK role players in the pile of junk (Lance and Galo) get very exiting big man in a draft, pickup one reclamation project in DWill and sign one decent vet in RoLo... So we added 5 players already... Isn't it great?
Our another accidental pick in Grant still work in progress.
We made a couple of misses with Seraphin and OQ and get stop gap dude in Aflalo.
Some end of bench junk time fillers like Sasha, Amundsen, and Early does not matter much.
We already almost get a half of the NBA team in 1.5 years, another 2 years and we will get the complete team.
So no worries.

I've been trying to come up with the name of a guard who we could get this year that could come in here and, if he's right, really make an impact at a small cost. I came up with Lance Stephenson.
