What is he? A PG or SG? I don't see Phil picking this kid because of lack of athleticism and not enough length. If Gallo was not already on the roster, maybe.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Clean wrote:I have been keeping tabs on the D League since the start of the season. A big story that is not getting enough coverage is the maturing of Jimmer Fredette. He might be the perfect player for a scoring guard off the bench for us. He is doing a little bit of everything now. I've said this before but i'll say again that you can't take what a player does in the d-league and think he can do even close to that in the NBA. The d-league is mostly guys who will never play in the NBA because they're not good enough to play in the NBA which obviously makes it much easier to play against them. Don't get me wrong cause i also would love to see Jimmer get a shot (another shot that is) in the NBA with us. I do think he can do some good things but he hasn't been able to stick with a team yet and he's had his chances. I believe he does deserve one more chance and would like for that chance to be with us but still can't figure out why he isn't getting that chance especially when they give Thumpo a chance over him when it's pretty obvious to us on here that a guard was a bigger need for us than a combo forward. |

I don't see what we have to lose by signing him to a 10 day and giving him 5-10 minutes a game. No one expected Lin to do what he did, so stranger things have happened.

I'd like to take a look at Jimmer at some point this season. I think he could play next to either Galloway or Grant off the bench.

One thing I love about how Phil is using our D League team is that is a real minor league for us. They run the same system so when the players are called up they can fit in instantly. For example, when Thansis came into the game he did not have to be told where to go and everything seemed as smooth as if he had been with the team from opening day.

I understand that there aren't many teams with a roster opening for a
DL player, but you have to think that if Jimmer was that dominant in the DL some team would have picked him up, even if they had to make space by waiving someone on the end of the bench. We have guys associated with the Knicks watching him every day during games and in practice...have to figure that if they feel he can help the team he'll be signed to a 10 day contract. Vujacic can't play much d either and isn't shooting well. I think Fredette would be an improvement on him.

It's a good read. |

A slow footed 6'2" SG is not that appealing; specifically if he is not a lockdown defender Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Would've been nice to have Jimmer tonight, honestly. Leaving Afflalo in for 37 minutes with the way he was playing was torture.

I posted another article from d league digest where they compliment the Knicks and how they are using the d league as a true minor league system. They also talk about how much more effective it was for the Knicks to bring up a guy from Westchester that doesn't have to face the triangle learning curve. I think at least one more W-Knick might get the call before it is all said and done. Also, Early might benefit from some time in Westchester. The coach there has a developmental program in place unlike last year. Getting court time and playing in the triangle while getting back into playing shape seems like it would help Early.WaltLongmire wrote:I understand that there aren't many teams with a roster opening for a I'm tired,I'm tired, I'm so tired right now......Kristaps Porzingis 1/3/18

Whatever Phil does I was hoping he could add some scoring to this bench! Just seems like there are too many games we lose cuz we need just a bit more scoring. Don't know if Jimmer is the answer but I think we need another SCORER in the mix. |

There's some strategy I must be missing as to why Phil is letting this team struggle along without any scoring off the bench. |

Those two spots need to be occupied by younger and more talented players. Specifically, because I see him retaining Sasha for the remainder of the year. Fredette has become an exceptional basketball player except for his defense. He is a worthy replacement for Jose in the Kerr/Paxson role in the triangle offense.

Those are 2 spots that could be put to better use but what will Phil do? He seems to clearly be working to make a deal but with not much to offer deals are tough to make. |

hows his man to man defense? thats whats keeping him out of the NBA. until that improves from "laughable" to "awful" then i dont expect him in the NBA
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Jimmer needs to be signed with a 10 day contract. Our weakest link is at the guard spot. Jimmer can be our Kerr/Paxson type player.
