I think both are hurt. Knicks as a team have put too much on them it was inevitable.

I wonder if Melo will play in the All Star game if he is hurt.

He is not. Carmelo played way too many minutes the last four games; two OTs and last night. Legs need rest
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Fisher played KP much too much tonight. Is he trying to kill him?

Phil needs to reassess the bench. Maybe move two for one better quality player then call up Bachynski and Jimmer.

In my perfect world we would do these moves.

Waive Early
Sign Erick Green
Sign Jimmer
Try to trick someone into trading a decent and athletic backup big for KOQ and/or Seraphin.

This would give us the ability to rest Melo and KP more.

I like this strategy if we can do it.

Right now I look at 3 wasted roster spots.
#1 open roster spot 15
#2 Earlys spot
#3 Admundson spot

For the tea! NOW we need 1 pro guard and the other to look at d leaguers Lou Admundson at 32 years old-- OK we paid him for his service to the team. I'd rather fill the spot with Woods and start him down in the d league

Try to trick a NBA GM into making a bad trade?? We need help but i don't think these moves would lead to any more wins. We need to remember that we are still in a rebuild which i think a lot of people forget when we play a few good games in a row. There still needs to be plenty of changes made to this team to take that next step. We need to be patient with this team and with Phil. If he can't make a trade to better this team while not hurting our cap at this trade deadline then he needs to just go with what we have and make the changes in the off season except maybe signing someone to a 10 day contract or some other smaller move.

I think they would add wins to our record. Erick Green can definitely play better than Grant has been. He will hit those open shots that Grant bricks most of the time. Don't get me wrong I am a huge Grant fan but he will mostly be ineffective until he fixes his bad jump shot. Grant was playing really well until teams figured out he can't hit a shot to save his life. Now they play way off him and he can no longer drive to the hoop.

Jimmer will make the same impact that Gallo made at the start of the season when he was hitting open 3's. The Jimmer/Gallo comparison comes with a trade off of less defense for more consistent good shooting. I want the athletic backup big because I am tired of watching Seraphin's terrible defense and KOQ play way off of bigs who can clearly hit open shots.

Seraphin and Early for Alexis Ajinca?

Wonder if Melo will have to shut it down at some point this season? If it looks very clear that we aren't making the playoffs, then Id rather go for another high lotto pick. Only if Melo is really hurting. Better that than killing himself for the 8th spot.

We don't have a pick this year though.

I wish I could do the same. I knew from the jump that the Bargnani deal was going to have this effect. Hopefully we can at least get a pick from a contender but I doubt it.

Didn't like the first round pick either at the time, but I didn't mind giving Bargs a chance for the players we gave up. They're in the "where are they now?" file.

One thing the Knicks have been decent at over the last few years is acquiring 2nd round picks in a pinch. I have a great deal more faith in Clarence Gaines finding talent, than the scouts we had before. Hope they make Gaines GM and kick Mills upstairs after Phil leaves. He earned it IMO.

I hope he realizes that the All Star game has no value and sits it out. Gut feeling tells me he is going to treat the All Star game like its the 7th game of the championship.

Absolutely. I'm a risk-taker, so I wouldn't have minded a Bargnani trade in a vacuum. But surrendering a pick for a guy that the Raptors were allegedly prepared to cut is just dumb, especially when the guy was barely better than a role player when healthy. Yeah, we managed to move Novak's contract that went a year longer than we wanted but the opportunity cost of saving that $4 million is never better than the value of a pick (unless you've got a verbal gaurantee from a star willing to sign using some of that money). It was some of the same dumb rationale that played into our decision to basically give up Tyson Chandler for no first round picks. But hey, at least we saved $1.7 million from not having to stretch Raymond Felton's contract (who is conveniently overperforming this year)!

And yeah, we've done a fantastic job with our 2nd rounders. I actually think that Willie Hernangomez is going to be close to a household name in this league once he comes over. The kid can ball. Hopefully Gaines (or someome from the Spurs tree) does get that promotion because those picks will factor in heavily to this team's immediate success.

I'm not sure either kp or CA should be playing
