How would Rudy Gay fair in Miami?????? He is sort of an ISO plaYer like Carmelo, but not as efficient. Playing between Bosh, Wade, Whiteside might help elevate his cared.

What will the Knicks do? Given how disjointed Cleveland seem to look, a move here and there; specifically, to salvage our issues at PG might help take us over the top.

Dang is fished, he can no longer be relied upon. They need a shot maker like Gay to relieve the scoring burden from Wade and Bosh. If you ask me, other then from their coaching staff, I don't believe they are that much better then the Knicks; special due to the emergence of KP

To be honest, the first time the Knicks played them in November they looked like a sleeping giant. They looked fricking fantastic. But when we played them a few weeks ago in early January, I thought they looked extremely average. I don't know if they took a step back somehow, but it sort of seems like they did.

In November, the Hornets, Magic, Pacers, Celtics, Heat and Pistons ALL looked better than they probably were.

I believe you and I have been over Riley's role in the Big 3. He helped facilitate a deal the Big 3 cooked up themselves.

But that said, look again at what I quoted. You wrote "they have the team to beat Cleveland and reach the finals."

"Have" ... present tense.

You're giving the post-James Heat credit for things they haven't shown. They are 60-64 since the start of last year, are 4-6 the last ten, which is likely to reflect who they are (if not worse) for a while.

You're giving Wade-Bosh-Deng-Dragic-Whiteside more credit than they've earned.

Not sure there is any way around that.

Riley has done well. He always does. If you followed how it all went down he was very instrumental in landing Lebron, dont poopoo that. Some of what he's done was simply out of need. Who would you rather have? Bosh at 3/$77mm remaining or Melo at 3/$79mm ??? (includes $28mm player option we assume Melo opts into)

First time in a long time I would be totally 100% if the Knicks did nothing at the deadline and simply focus on continuing to improve internally.

I am in this camp. First of all Bosh is a career first half performer. Every year his production drops considerably over the last 30-40 games in the season. Wade's body is reaching the Iverson stage... dude is kept together by stretchy shirts and duct tape. I will say there is some upside as I would expect Dragic to figure things out and improve. Winslow can certainly get better and more eff% as well. Sleeping giant? Not seeing that. They have some things that can get better and some others that can get worse. I see them as a middle playoff team... maybe 45-48 wins who can advance if they get a favorable matchup or swept if they dont. Time will tell and I think they have done well dealing with Lebron's departure.

Yeah as much as it would be great to add a young talent like Winslow, Melo is here to stay and we are much better off for it. For everyone talking about how we need to be careful with KP and preserve his health while he gets used to an nba schedule, trading Melo and increasing his workload is the worst thing possible.

Why does trading Melo necessitate an increased workload for Kristaps? Dragic could be a scorer with the ball in his hands, Deng would be good for 12 ppg, Winslow is a decent enough shooter, Rolo is coming into his own....we wouldn't be the Warriors but I think we could hold our own offensively.
