He also gave coach a C. I'm disappointed in both grades and few would have given the Knicks 20 wins by now. Yes he's right. Jackson has given the media a cold shoulder but his turnaround product is in the Court. He constructed this team. He backed up the truck, purged JR and Shumpert, malcontents, took the gamble with KP, sought Afflalo, secured Lopez, and this next off season will determine if we will be a 50 win team before long. Phil deserves a solid grade. B-B+

He gave Phil a C.....

Phil Jackson: C-minus

His dealings with the media deserves an F — failing to speak once to the writers and broadcasters covering the team since three days before training camp. It’s part of the job, being face of the franchise. The Porzingis pick and Afflalo signing were solid, but for $60 million in the big picture, owner James Dolan expects more than a .500 club. And 17-65 always will be on the résumé. Giving the Zen Master “incomplete’’ is a copout.

And the core players all got C or better.

The article is fine.

Even with a C grade. The Knicks have a lot of things trending upward. The 17-65 was necessary and landed a player like KP. We have cap flexibility going forward, Melo & KP have had some real good chemistry going.

Don't really care about the 60mil price tag. Phil Jackson has done what was necessary in terms of tearing down and rebuilding over looking for quick fixes to sneak in the playoffs soley worrying about Carmelo's age. Getting that high lotto pick, hitting on an elite talent pick. Adding solid pieces while maintaining cap flexibility.

I also don't care about how the media feels it's been treated. This of course is the first thing mentioned by Berman (a hack). I wish reporters would stop citing how athletes/sports execs talk or don't talk to the media as something that I, the fan, should give a **** about. I don't. Save that talk for staff meetings and industry conventions. Why would you think that I care?

Berman is upset because he has to watch the games and make basketball insights instead of reporting qoutes? What relevant GM news has occurred since opening day.

All this is is the New York media trying their best to stir up some BS and that's all it is.

And I don't think Phil has a problem with the beat guys. I can definitely see giving Stephen A & Espn the cold shoulder

Got Melo to re-sign and not take the complete max.
Drafted Porzingis, Jerian Grant.
Scouted and found a pick up like Galloway.
Traded for Lance Thomas.
Got NY under the cap for 3 consecutive summers for the first time in their history, I believe.
Brought in a former #2 pick in Derrick Williams who is playing like one.
Brought in one of the best role playing defensive Centers in Lopez on a contract that looks solid in this era.
Afflalo/Calderon are stop gaps for a few years until he is able to use capspace to upgrade.

I don't see how Phil can get worse than a B, but the media can't stand him because he didn't and wasn't able to do what they were hoping and used to - that is bring in superstar and all the big names. It's all about bringing in the big names for them and accessibility. They fail to realize had they done what Phil is trying to do now, years ago, they would have been able to sign Melo in free agency and also keep Gallinari, Mosgov, 2 draft picks and other assets.

Phil has also lost what is likely 2 lottery picks (2014 and this year if we miss the playoffs) for deals that he wouldn't have ever made. Deals that the guys in charge before him made.

i'm sure marc berman is the final word on value assessment. he has been traumatized having to write about the knicks. he has a screw loose. i can just see jackson's face now when he gets the news.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

There's still some credible people left at The Post minus Berman unlike the NY Daily News. I don't know who is editing the Daily News these days if anyone but so many blatant misspellings of everyday words and its not auto-correct either. I also wonder about their ultra-liberal/anti-cop propaganda. I'm beginning to think they've started hiring cheaper labor

ESPN Grade:
Chad Ford: There are finally good vibes in New York.

Kristaps Porzingis is the major reason for that. When the Knicks selected Porzingis with the No. 4 pick in June's draft, New York fans were not thrilled, and neither was Carmelo Anthony. But with Porzingis looking like a Knicks savior, the tone has shifted 180 degrees.

EDITOR'S PICKS

NBA trade profiles for all 30 teams
Our Insiders give every team's top trade targets and assets heading into the 2016 deadline.
Suddenly there is belief in the team and Phil Jackson's judgment as team president. And Melo has taken on a new role as team leader and patient mentor.

The home run that Porzingis represents has covered for the fact that this is still a mediocre team. According to ESPN's Basketball Power Index, the Knicks are about 10 percent likely to make the playoffs, with a projected record of 38-44. That's a big step up from last year's 17-win abomination, but not exactly a championship path.

The truth is, the roster needs major upgrades, and the Knicks don't even have a first-round draft pick this year with which to find another Porzingis. So what's left now is the hard work of completing the rebuild.

Marc Berman. Is this the same "writer" who brought you the serial Stephon the Real Saviour of the World?

Yes, Phil Jackson definitely needs to be losing sleep over the NY Post.
