a galvanizing game to say the least!!!!

i had not been more excited watching a game in i don't remember when. the tandem of melo and kp6 in the first half. it was just great.

too bad for melo though. he's been playing great ball. he could miss as many as 5 games because of his age. but this may be a blessing in a way because in the context of a two-year developmental arc it forces the knicks to continue to develop the way of always striving to work as a unit and continue to look to exploit mismatches.

porzingis is a special player. he has "it." a real shame he fouled out but he is going to be a great new york knickerbocker... there can be no doubt at this point. it's the the warrior gene.

afflalo stepped up big time tonight. just a great game from him and playoff-like in its grittiness. he could be a big factor if the knicks make the playoffs, which is a distinct possibility.

grant really stepped up. his best is game as a knickerbocker. could this be his breakout game, ironically with melo out? or will he regress? will he build on these flashes?

williams also played great. i like williams. i am hoping fisher can find a way to get him into more situations where he can excel just so long as it's not at the expense of getting better in the triangle.

a great and thought-provoking victory.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

They stayed mentally tough when KP and Melo were on the bench. Too many games lost by the Knicks over the years (including last season) because the team couldnt keep it together when the pressure was on. If they can keep this going into the playoffs, we will be a team other teams dont want to face in the first round. That is if we make it. Looking that way lately.

Great game. This is going to be fun watching KP and Grant over the next few years.

Just think a few days ago some wanted Grant in the D League.

Need patience!

I thought we might break when we got down by 3 on one occasion.

Grant really stepped up to push the team to victory...

...Almost as if he got caught up in the moment and forgot he was a rookie with major confidence issues.

Pretty wonderful to watch, and it will be interesting to see how Fisher and Grant build on this.

Yeah, one thing about Fisher - you can tell he is rooting for Grant and really likes him. He wants him to succeed. And I think he's done a good job at putting him in a position to learn and not get overwhelmed. I think the second half of the season can be really big for Jerian.

I first started to come to New York for work around 8 years ago and recently celebrated 4 years full time in the city. I appreciate I have therefore not suffered nearly as long as most of you on this forum however despite the last few years being equally as barren I've fallen in love with the Knicks. The last couple of years I've probably been to a couple dozen games at the Garden and I can honestly say that tonight was the most special. The whole atmosphere has been completely turned around and its genuinely exciting. Suddenly the future looks completely different. The first 20 minutes tonight was the best team basketball I have ever seen live from the New York Knicks and it was wonderful to watch.

KP and Melo would have scored well in excess of 60 pts this evening had we not suffered some bad luck with with the Melo injury and then KP's foul troubles. They were simply irresistible in that spell and looked like they had played together for years nevermind a paltry few months. The ball movement and the shooting was just tremendous, the smoothness of both our stars's shots just a joy to watch. Their team mates contribution can't be underestimated either creating the spacing and getting them the ball. The whole team just looked so confident and as importantly enjoying their basketball. That enthusiasm has seen the work ethic improve massively from what we have seen in recent seasons.

The Melo injury assisted Boston in getting themselves back in the game as did KP's 3rd and 4th fouls coming so early in the 3rd having sat a long period in the 2nd as well. Remarkable he ended with the stat line he did given the minuets he played. This guy is going to be idolized in New York for years to come, a legit superstar who is a fantastic competitor and a gentle giant of a guy. How lucky have we got with him.

Then just when we had lost Melo and KP and needed someone to step up AA came to the rescue with some tremendously aggressive basketball in the 3rd quarter. I think I'm correct in saying he scored 10 consecutive points at one point The 2nd half was like a play off game and the Garden was rocking like I haven't seen since I started following the Knicks. It was so fun to be there. The D started to make some plays and Grant had his coming out game and against the Celtics with a superb display especially in the 4th quarter - how great was that to witness. Huge team grit and desire to pull this W out the bag and get us back to .500 Massive credit to Fish as well for some timely and clever substitutions and time outs.

So much to look forward to with this team and the inevitable improvements in free agency over the next couple of seasons. Just so delegated tonight.

Fish handed Jerian the ball and said Kid this is your game! Jerian looked shaky at times and then he stiffened his spine and stepped up!!! Huge confidence boost. Glad for Jerian and the role players fighting for the win.

Imagine how many highlights would be in a KP highlight reel from the first half of the season? The kid is incredible.

The biggest development of this season is the MELO and KP Tandem! They are really developing GREAT chemistry together and they drive the team's success.

Media complained that MELO would be gone by the time KP could help and KP blew that out the water!!! MELO has bonded with KP and they play well on the floor together. Simply amazing.

My big take away was the lack of passing after Melo went out. Jerian made some good plays but the flow went away. IF Thomas, D.Will, and Afflalo they will have to come back as better passers. Maybe they will have a better understanding of the triangle and will be able to anticipate more. Another player who needs to improve is Ro Lo and if he does he needs to change his last name from Lopez to Gasol because he would be a monster triangle center if he was a better passer.

Looking back now its amazing to me how many people were so vehemently against adding Derrick Williams and Aaron Affalo this summer and in love with the Rolo signing all in the name of Sabermetrics.

As I said since day one. Advance stats is pretty important but it isn't everything

You were clearly influenced by the energy there tonight...great game to be able to see in person.

I liked the Afflalo signing...was puzzled by the Williams pick-up, but had to believe that Phil and Fisher knew what they were doing with him. I didn't think Williams could deal with a system like ours.

Williams has clearly had some problems, but there are obviously things going on in practice that none of us see and he's earned some playing time.

A bit of a freelancer, sometimes, but he's been very good at moving without the ball, and seems to have fit in well as a teammate.

Wish he would box out, better, though.

Lopez is heading toward becoming a fan favorite, if he's not already there. I don't consider advanced stats...only the fact that he plays with an intensity you like to see. His game in the post has been a surprise for me.

Glad to see that we have our own viable twin towers tandem...probably the best in league that has gotten shorter in recent years.
