Just came across this by chance.

So much for Russian domination of the East.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Surprise! They've been woeful. Gonna be a big job to turn their ship around with all the lost draft picks. Hollins never really had a chance with that roster.

Wow. I think it needed to happen. Not sure how King lasted so long.

Can't believe it took this long. I don't think I've ever seen a GM allowed to fire 3-4 coaches in what 5yrs and still get to keep his job?

Just look at the Giants. They fire Coughlin adeveryone knows Reece is next if they have another disappointing season next year

King and the Russian owner were basically IT and Dolan reincarnated (which is why King wasn't fired)- they ran that franchise into the ground and gave out unprotected first round picks like they were candy- they are stuffed for years. I said at the time the KG and Pierce trade was the kind of abomination we would have made, but the media seemed to love it at the time (Nets got a very easy ride by the media for years after the new owner took over).

The media was loving to use the Nets as a way to dig at the Knicks. They were willing to overlook the bad decisions if it gave them a way to poke a finger in the eye of Dolan. Now they don't have the ammo to go at the Knicks this year, so Brooklyn is gonna get the full brunt of the media scorn.

To be fair the Nets got to the2nd round of the playoffs with KG & Pierce. Knicks missed the playoffs after acquiring the immortal Bargnani with the money they were suppose to give Lin and we gave up a 2016 1st round pick. Oh how I'm glad those Dolan days are in the past

king was horrible. the garnett and pierce acquisition was prokohrov going "all in" right away, putting azzes in seats with two former champions, one of them an nba finals mvp. if i were a nyets fan i would have been excited in the short run and realize that the pain would come later. later is now.

not a fan of hollins' firing though.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Three first round picks and the right to swap another. Not sure what second round picks they sent out but I believe there were a couple of those also. That deal buried the Nets.

as i said, this is prokhorov going all in. it's a gambler's mentality. unfortunately for nyets fans the guy is a billionaire and this is pocket change for him.

not a fan of this approach but he is a self-made man and by comparison dolan is pond scum.

King followed the starphuchg orders of the russian to invade Brooklyn and conquer quickly. Remember, Melo was heading there before Dolan rolled on his back and showed his belly. NO GM, including King ever has that much power to spend and that much power without a directive from his owner.

This next rebuild is going to take a while and its entirely possible King does not want to be part of the longer term either. In hindsight it was a very ambitious plan and they played an arms race with the knicks with both teams really not coming out as distinguished as a clear winner or loser. Knicks got phil, tanked and are building with a plan. One might be suspect of the timing of all this given the Knicks are on the rise with a promising franchise rookie, a Latvian no less who can be an even bigger star than Dirk in Europe!!! Knicks win in NY and can take the continent of Europe which was the russian was hoping to do.

Prokhorov also has full control of the teams ownership now and in fact makes it easier to sell which has long been rumored the last few years.
Nets have little relief in sight as they depleted their Draft picks making their run. I admire the level of ambition with Joe, Brook, Deron, Pierce and KG. ON paper it should have had a two year window and at least one trip to the finals. The russian put some serious money and his balls on the line.

I prefer a healthy rivalry in NY than what we have had the last few years. If both teams can thrive it would make for some great games and a new golden age for NY basketball!

They were too busy trying to steal the Knicks fan base instead of trying to build a real basketball team. I just hope they get it right this time. I would love to chear for my home town team.

Do people even go to there games anymore?

KG/Pierce was suppose to provide them with leadership that Dwill & Joe Johnson didnt bring.

Nets gotta be the worst destination for free agents. Poor guys that get traded there and have no choice

Putin should have been in charge of that "plan". He knows how to play chess.

Man, I don't like the Nets but I both feel bad and am angry at them. The latter because Boston better not get Simmons!

The brooklyn nets have no fans. It's pathetic. Most of them just blindly love to represent where they are from but the team was never built with and soul. They sold it all to Boston!

I'm always gonna be a knicks fan but I'm a closet nets fan from the Sherman Douglas, chris Morris, armon Gilliam days.... they are in Brooklyn so they are like the Mets. The Mets have a soul though. The Nets have yet to establish that. They really need to find it.

I feel the same way about the nets. Also, Ross and Raferty are unforgettable as announcers. Raferty drove me crazy with his nick names but they stuck with me. The Hammer, Kenny with the Kiss etc. The guy was unique but his nick names stick with you like a commercial jingle.
