It's a great thing we have going because as teams have gotten smaller to help change with the times, KP has provided the unique ability to have a good defender at the PF position who is 7'3. He will eventually be a center, but for now if you don't have him and you want to keep up with today's NBA, you have to play Melo, DWill, or Lance at the 4 because you need a player at that position who can stretch the floor without giving up a ton on the defensive end. So naturally teams are moving to bigger SF's to play the 4 and calling them stretch-4s. KP is like a bigger small forward, just 7'3.

It's one thing to do it because you simply have a small team. But to go out of your way to make yourself small would seem to be a mistake. I don't really see that teams are doing that per se. IMO the Stretch 4 or 5 is a much sought after type of player and especially if they can defend. I like that Phil LOVES size and looks to build teams with good size. He's also aware that you want bigs that can MOVE. That's the best of both worlds having size that is quick and mobile so you can defend any style of team.

One of the things I mentioned about the reason Phil liked the Triangle is that it allowed him to play big. He runs an offense that is designed to work with multiple post players and is easy to defend out of the offense. So he has his teams ready for playoff style ball cuz that's how they play all year. The Knicks will not have any issues with the slower pace of the playoffs. They already run an offense that works even if you can't get a lot of fast breaks.

Yeah remember when GS won using it? Haha funny times.

that was last year...not sure if you have noticed but they did give the backup center 10 more mins this year and bogut is playing 20 mins a game as well...that will go up.

they are doing better this year...not because they decided to go smaller.
probably because defenses are being even more honest with them on the perimeter.
if i recall, bogut is up there in efficiency this year. that helps curry and klay
