Do you guys really see Chris Paul staying in LA? Nothing wrong with winning 50-55 games every season and getting to the 2nd round, but when you have GS, SA, and OKC firmly ahead in the pecking order and you have never been to the WCF, i think change is tempting. Paul likes LA i'm sure, likes Doc, and likes his teammates, but doesn't seem particularly close with anyone on that team, at least his fellow star players. He can opt out after next season, and alongside his close friend Melo, KP (who i expect to be a 20/10 player in that 3rd year), Afflalo, and Lopez, they have a formidable lineup that has a clear road straight to the ECF, at minimum. And can certainly give cleveland some problems, depending the speed of KP's development and overall chemistry. I know we do this every year, with speculation of major free agents. I don't think we have a shot at Durant because i just don't think it makes a ton of sense. Same went for Aldridge last summer. But CP3 seems to make almost too much sense for both sides to help accomplish what neither the Knicks have been able to do in quite some time or Chris Paul has been able to do in his entire career, and likely won't be able to in LA.

I love C.Paul but if we're gonna wait until after next year (2017) to get a legit point guard then i'd rather have R.Westbrook. The 2017 free agent class is very strong to so if Phil can make sure we have plenty of money set aside for that off season then we would probably come away with a nice piece or two from that class. Who really knows who will be on our team after next season to?? AA most likely won't be with us but Grant will have two years in this system as will KP6 so that could be our year to do some real damage.

Of course i would prefer Westbrook too, but its about what is most realistic. Curry, Westbrook, Paul, Teague, and Holiday will all be FAs and my preference is likely in that order, but Paul is your most realistic of the top 3 for all the reasons i mentioned above. AA i think will want to be back, but will want to get paid. He has said many times that he has been trying to land in NY over the years. Money talks of course, but it will be up to Phil if he remains in NY.

Why do you think CP3 is more realistic than Westbrook? Wouldn't they both be in a similar boat?

I think when you look at as a whole, Chris Paul being close with Melo, and having not got passed the 2nd round in the playoffs, ultimately separate the two situations. What does Westbrook have to gain from leaving OKC? They are a great team, who if healthy can at minimum get to the WCF on any given year. They have been in the finals. They are young. Paul has everything to gain from leaving LA. They are at best the 4th best team in the west. He is not particularly close with any of his teammates and at 30 years old, there is more pressure to find an easier path to the conference finals at minimum, because he's one of the best players in NBA history never to get there. Melo will be in his ear no doubt. That will have a lot of influence, whereas with Westbrook, thats really not there.

If you build it, they will come.

We are creating a framework for a team that is going to look very enticing for certain FAs.

KP will be a major draw, but you also have a guy like Lopez who is content to be a complimentary workhorse in the middle, and you have a re-purposed Anthony, who sure is looking like someone FAs will want to play with.

If we can somehow finish over .500, Phil will be turning FAs down next year because we'll have so many players wanting to come here.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Chris Paul is a very, very good player, but he's shooting career lows this year. Nothing awful, just some minor decline.

For a point guard who turned 30, its necessary to keep an eye on, especially 120+ games later.

Could be a great high-end veteran PG type. Might not be a superstar type, in terms of contract.

not just that, did you see Melo's interview after the game?
very level headed, not bragging at all, and essentially announcing to the rest of the league that my teammates love it here.
that should also entice some people.

Would rather go after Westbrook. didnt always feel that way, but imagine Westbrook tear assing it up and down the court with KP and DWill as his wingmen. Scare the crap out of the rest the league.

Excellent point. I am impressed by what Carmelo has been doing on and off the court. He is a better player, better person, and even a more eloquent speaker. Leadership is radiating all over this dude lately.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)
