The more I think about it, the more I'd love to take a shot and see what Jennings looks like on this team.

Look at his midrange game in this highlight reel of his 55pt game. He would clean up with those shots here - and in terms of getting to the basket and moving the ball, he'd be a major upgrade over Calderon.

I would be all for this.

So you guys would include Grant in the trade for Jennings? He sure went from 11th pick ready to start now player to trade fodder pretty quick. I think I wouldn't make this trade - I am just so tired of injured players who come to the Knicks give us a bit of hope and then fizzle out.

I'd be happy if we could get him, but not sure what I would give up - as we showed today, we can beat good teams with our personnel if they are hitting on all cylinders.

Not sure I would give up Calderon - and I would have been happy to see him released earlier in the year.

No way Grant should be traded.

That said, we do have depth, and if Phil thinks its an upgrade, I'm open.

Just because we are interested in Jennings doesn't automatically mean we have to trade Grant. Detroit needs help inside and they could use help at the 2. They are set at point guard with Reggie Jackson in place

Actually his blown out achilles is stronger now after surgery....Thats the case for 90% of players with this injury. What we should worry about are other lower leg injuries that may occur due to over compensating and if his style fits our system. I don't mind trading Grant if we get Jennings and a pick.....

IF the Knicks are going to run more of what we saw yesterday, then I take my opinion back on Jennings. If there's a lot of pick/roll available early on in the offense as well as the tempo being pushed, I think he could fit in. He can do what Grant did yesterday on a nightly basis with better scoring ability.

The thing is knowing SVG, I don't think he gives us Jennings without someone of veteran proven stature coming back. He'll want Calderon IMO. I'm not sure Phil does that. Calderon is a key cog in their offense, and setting up the offense. I don't see them abandoning Calderon for Jennings. Other deals, I don't think they make as much sense to Van Gundy/Detroit.

We don't even have a 2016 or 2017 pick (can't trade consecutive picks) to offer - and it's not like if we did we should be and I think Phil understands the value of the draft anyway.

I know we (fans) would easily take the risk of trading Calderon for Jennings, but I don't think the Knicks would. It would clear up capspace for next summer if Jennings didn't pan out. The problem would be you remove the only capable passer who can make outside shots as a PG on the team. Jennings would take some time to grasp the O, and it's not a given a player is ever the same after an achilles injury.

I'd offer someone not in the starting 5, and not Grant or Thomas. After those 7, I think if Detroit wants to make a deal centered around Quinn or Williams and Galloway, I think it's a deal NY and DET could live with.

Im not sure Phil and fisher see a fit with grant. But with early going down that leaves 2 slots open. But with that said if Jennings was on the team he would be the only legit PG on the roster. Jimmer is a SG who passes when he has no other choice. But thats the same with iverson.. .small guards that can score works as long as u pair them with a tall passing guard.

Phil I think loves his backup PG's to be able to do all the things Grant does. He's always had a change of pace/tempo raising backup PG. I don't think Phil sees Grant as a starter unless Grant dramatically changes his jump shooting ability, but I sense Phil loves his potential as a defender and backup PG.

Not sure if you mean Today or This year - "I don't think Phil sees Grant as a starter" - but I don't think your statement hold true on its own. When you make a trade to get a player like Grant, you definitely think he is eventually going to start.

I'm with you. As long as we don't have to give up too much for him if we're not planning on re-signing him after the season. If he's only coming to finish this season with us and then he's gonna sign someplace else then it's obviously not worth giving up what we'd have to to get him. I also get a little tired of everyone saying a player can only play one way and can't learn to play another way or in another system. As long as that player will put the work in to change his game and work hard to learn the triangle then who's to say that player can't change the way he plays the game some to play in our system?? Nobody on here knows any of these guys so how can anyone say that player won't be all for learning a new system. Who knows B.Jennings could still want to play in New York just as much as he did when he was drafted which if not everyone knows he wanted us to draft him badly and even made it known that he was gonna turn it up another level every time he played us.

I'm gonna call it now what i think is gonna happen with Jennings. With the NEW JERSEY Nets and yes i still call them NEW JERSEY knowing that we want him and with them now losing J.Jack for the season they'll jump in and give up some crazy amount for him cause we all know how much they love to do anything they can to screw with the Knicks.

I don't know about that. When Grant can come out and put in a nice little game like he did last night i think that makes Phil like what Grant could be in the future for us. Grant really did some nice things last night so i really hope we give the kid a chance to grow in our system. He's not ready to start but if he can do things like he did last night more often then i think there's no way we can give up on him so quickly.
