Knicks have too many bigs/forwards and not enough guards and swing men.

Yeah it's inevitable that Phil is gonna purge some of these bigs. It's coming soon IMO. I think the prospects for this team going forward are really pretty good.

I agree. They got the guys they could in the off-season.

I bet when they were building the roster they thought Grant would be more NBA-ready than KP. That it worked out the other way around means they have to do some roster balancing. They can tinker a little in-season with trades and hopefully signing a guy like Wroten. Next off-season will be a chance to really refine what they have.

We've all said it - you add a guy like Batum or Conley and get some development from KP and Grant and make some other tweaks and all the sudden this is a 50 Win team instead of a 40 win team.

YUP! The plan was to build with some smart but reasonable improvements rather than the usual STARPH*** that we have done. Just a little patience and smart moves rather than trading away the future.

The more I think about it, the more I lean towards Phil giving good money to Batum in the offseason. Big guard, loves to pass (5 APG) and rebound (6 RPG). Can move to the 3, very interchangeable.

Fills out a starting spot and deepens the bench if AA stays.

And here is another benefit: it puts leverage on AA to either move to the bench or, if he opts out, frees up $8M in cap space for the Knicks. Win-win.

That's a really good point about signing Batum - maybe it forces Afflalo to opt out. Either way, I don't think having the depth of AA is a bad thing. But Batum would be a major upgrade.

I am excited about the next 2 off-seasons, this is where Phil will earn his stripes.

Agreed. If they can be around .500 with an exciting young talent in KP and Melo still playing well, I think they can be a destination for some guys this summer.

Next summer... the name I keep thinking might make happen is Westbrook. Melo will be on the downside by then (meaning, ready to have the team not be "his" team, KP will be in year three and a perfect side kick to Russ, but it'd be Russ's team (something he might want after being in Durant's shadoow). If we have a guy like Batum here, all the more perfect fit for Westbrook.

I'm not a guy who says "Knicks are getting Bron! Knicks are getting Durant!" But for some reason I could see Westbrook here. Gets him his own team in a media and fashion capital and Russ likes the fashion stuff. People have said LA for Russ, but the Lakers have invested in D'Angelo Russell and are rebuilding in a major way there. I dunno, obviously a long way to go between now and summer 2017, but I keep thinking it could happen.

I'm with you on Westbrook, been thinking he'd be the year 2 target for a long time now.

The question for me is this: Are KP, Melo, Rolo, KOQ, Willy a good enough front line rotation or does that too need to be upgraded. Is Horford a better target with some sort of sign and trade involving Rolo/KOQ?

Tristan Thompson must of done something to him if he hasn't been seen since the Cleveland game.

Phil will have that problem fixed very soon.

Where has Lou been? Not on bench or dressed last 2 games
