Rumor out there that there's a 3 way with Lopez to the Pelicans and Dwight to NYK. OQuinn, D Williams and Calderon would be gone and Luke Babit to NY as art of the deal.

knicksnews_rumorsAccording to reports, the Knicks could land Dwight Howard in a three-team trade prior to the trade deadline

Howard can opt out of his contract this summer and he is likely to do so

The third team involved would be the New Orleans Pelicans

5thlaneYo you gotta think, this would be good for him. Dwight played good in LA, look at the numbers. When he got to Houston where the ball stops in James Hardens hands it's not a good fit. In the triangle he will get the ball. @Dwighthoward make this happen bruh
iceman2sam@adam2719
5thlaneBut aye we need a guard, go after Brandon Jennings or Toney Wroten
adam2719Damn @iceman2sam u want him on our team?
iceman2sam@adam2719 hell yeah, robin Lopez is slow ass ****.
iceman2sam@adam2719 plus they might take rajon rondo

So, this is a trial of Dwight and a salary dump as well?

Not sure I like Dwight here though. He wouldn't be in our long term plans imo.

Getting Dwight now would allow us to buy low for one of the best centers in the league.

His problem? He wants to be the man. He wants to be adored. He wants to be labeled as great.
The residual effects of that is he crystal and complains when things don't go his way. He also takes nights off.

The positives?

The triangle well get him shots. He has Melo, Kristaps, Phil And Fisher to take all the pressure off him. Yet if he comes in and plays like he's been playing, NY will adore him and that's what he wants.

I believe Melo will take care of him. Dwight also takes pressure off Kristaps to dominate so early every night. Plus you have Phil and Fisher as mentors. The triangle will keep him involved.

this is essentially the perfect spot for Dwight.

The Knicks have Rolo, D Will, Seraphin and whoever to trade and still will have a decent bench to fall back on until we can fill the roster out with guys we have in the d league or free agency (Tony Wroten).

I'm absolutely wit this idea. Time to get this championship

I think with KP and Melo in place this Starphuck could actually work-still screwed at PG-maybe Lawson is included? maybe Jimmer is ready off the bench by then, and it looks likes a jacked version of the Stan Van Orlando team - I think on a money year w things in place like you said it could be a perfect storm for "good Dwight" and we didn't give up anything meaningful

If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

I googled the trade and found this analysis amusing.
As for the Knicks? Dwight Howard heading there and filling up the lane at center would put make a strong frontcourt with Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis. That’s not even mentioning players such as Cleathony Early and Lou Amundson coming off the bench.

Here we go again with crazy knick trades. I really don't like the idea of getting rid of our 2 best bench players but shedding Lopez wouldn't exactly upset me. We would have plenty of money next offseason if we let Dwight walk. If he stays we would have the cap room to offer money to get a guard like Batum. A core of Melo, Porzingis, Batum, and Dwight would be very good

no, i don't want dwight howard in a 3way trade. i find the guy so unappealing to root for - he's more interested in pregame dance routines and getting his own shots than he is winning basketball games. not a winning basketball player AT ALL. it's guys like him we've tried to clear out, don't need to be bringing them back.

Definitely solves the RoLo as a useless triangle post player problem. Now if Hose-A is somehow included, then sign me the phuck up!

Knicks would have Dwight in for Rolo. Seraphin in for O'Quinn. Cleananthony in for D Will.

The Knicks could sign Wroten and look into trading Calderón. Knicks have one of the best d league teams. Someone or two could get called up. Knicks could pick right up and even exceed after this trade.

This isn't actually a rumor. It was an idea started by a blogger on BR. Sorry I don't have time to look for the link, but I'm pretty sure that's where it started.

I lost a little of my soul talking good about Dwight Howard as a Knick lol.... but yo.....

Seraphin proved he could do the job if given a chance. Everyone is crying about Early not playing.... welp.

I hate Howard as a player. He is a team cancer. However we are not winning it this year, so to unload RoLo, and take the cap space in the summer, I would consider it. I would need to get a young good player in addition or a pick.

Howard is probably worse for the triangle than Rolo is, just so you know.

Yeah, lol. Dwight won't even hit the rim when he's taking 20 foot jump shots.

Dwight comes with his baggage, but it would be a fantastic trade for NY.
Risky because Dwight could leave in FA, but the potential of a Howard/Porzingis/Melo front court would be incredible. We also get out of a lot of salary for next season with Calderon, Williams and Lopez. Even if Dwight walks, you have something like 45 million in cap space now with Calderon/Williams/Lopez not on contract for 16-17.

It's risky but I personally like it. The only 2 guy you keep away from trades are Melo (NTC too tough to trade) and KP. Everyone else is movable. Think about it - if Dwight is your 3rd best player you are likely a very good team. Afflalo now becomes the 4th best player and Galloway our 5th. Still have Thomas off the bench. I can live with this deal.

But to me I'd be surprised if Phil completely abandoned his investments in Lopez, Quinn, Calderon, Williams. Phil is a huge believer in Howard though.

How so? He'll play the Bynum or Shaq role.

Who says he has to take jumpers? Bynum or Shaq didn't take many.

I was exaggerating but given what's happened with all our big men, I think there's some truth to the concern that this system will weaken his strengths and add to his weaknesses.
