The coaching staff is brutally bad. I looked at Rambis tenure in mini(he won 15 games his firt season), and I went through the first 32(thats how far i got up to) games, and the roster which featured, K love, al jefferson, johnny flynn, ramon sessions, corey brewer, to name a few.

http://espn.go.com/nba/team/schedule/_/name/min/year/2010/minnesota-timberwolves

I notice he played the entire roster almost every game, and how he turned a very good talent (johnny flynn) into a suspect ass player, in fact, everyone on the roster suffered immensely trying to adapt to the triangle.

Kahn hired Rambis in 2009 to turn around one of the league's struggling franchises. But Rambis went 32-132 in his two seasons, including a league-worst 17-65 in his second year on the job.

Kahn wanted Rambis to retool the offense, which had elements of the triangle system used by Jackson, to a more up-tempo, fast-break-or-bust mentality. The triangle offense limits the point guard's ability to freelance and create, something Kahn wanted to change with Rubio's arrival for next season.

Rambis didn't feel that run-and-gun approach would be conducive to winning in the NBA, so the two drifted off the same page.

His head coaching career was even worse than Rambis (if that's even possible)

These two guys are fishers top assistants, and I know as a young coach with Zero experience he turns to those guys for advise and guidance. It is well known through out the NBA, that the assistants tend to handle the rotation and minutes for the most part, while the head coach focus on plays, in game adjustments, and match ups.

When you look at teams like the magic and pistons, who's roster isn't all that much talented than ours, you have to look directly at the guys coaching those teams, which seemed to have a game plan, and a solid rotation every night.

So while you guys dream about weird trades for players you think will make us better, think again about a coaching staff that has turned a number of good players into bad ones.

These guys hatched on to phil jackson, and all made a name for themselves, and when they got their chance, completely made asses of themselves.

I'm starting to feel sorry for fisher for being force to have these lame ass assistants, he needs real help

I didn't watch minny unless they played the knicks then but Khan was brutal as a gm. He drafted two point guards at 4 and 6 in '09. His draft plan seemed to be to take guys Walsh was interested in. I don't remember because I didn't care much about the Wolves other than to follow Flynn but did management support Rambis? Coaches are good or at least allowed to try to institute what they believe will help their team win if they are supported by management (see mike woodson pre and post grunfeld or d'antoni (despite the horrible record)pre and post Walsh).

ohhhh so this is playa's, new handle. the jonny flynn being a "really good talent" statement is an immediate give-away.

Rambis was a role player on Showtime, as assistant to phil in Lakerland has even more bling.
Cleamons has lots of rings as assistant in Chicago.

Rambis was stupid to take a job that owner wanted but the Great Khan was not on board with and did not draft according to the Triangle principles.

Thus, wrong coach for the roster. The blame game does not resonate with the assistants as they are part of a championship caliber team.

Lord of the rings is the leader, the Coach has championship pedigree as does the coach's. The one who doesn't is the impatient fan who thinks a team that does not get blown out and loses close games should have won them.
The mark of improvement is this team is competitive most of the times. Good teams know how to close out games. There is a lot to that.

We are not a good team yet. 17 games to one game below .500 after nearly 30 games is quite an improvement. Going spazz on trades or coaches after a short period of time is how rank amateurs handle things.

I'll take the guys with all the rings over your assessment. You think they are oblivious to the problems on the team and don't know how to deal with it? Laughable really!!!!Its arrogant and ignorant at many levels.

Want a young up and comer coach? Have to let them grow into the job. Fred Hoiberg is struggling after being a player and a college coach. It takes time. Kidd struggled at first, Doc RIvers in Orlando, Struggled. Kerr? Kind of sucked as a gm but inherited a 55 win team. Mark Jax? Won 23 games his first year out. Young college guys need time to adapt to. Brad Stevens admitted he sucked. His team was not good either and im sure some fans thought he was in over his head.

Its remarkable knicks are developing people instead of the old way of grabbing successful coaches then having them suck here with all kinds of unrealistic expectations. We turned Chaney, a former COY into a laughing stock but the reality was he got a lot out of those players. We burnt out JVG, we tunred HOF lenny and Larry into losers, we hired a great offensive mind MDA and instead of building it for him we ran out and got Melo. Wrong players for a good coach, or wrong coach for good players. Bottom line our roster was thin.

There is nothing that Fish has done that warrants his dismissal and what is entirely possible is this team at .500 is over achieving early!
Some see the glass as half empty or half full. Some see the half empty glass and just want more cuz they said so.

they arent broken. What was the expectation? Maybe 2-3 practices would be enough to figure out which 8 guys you are playing all year? We have a whole new team. Guys need minutes in different spots for extended periods of time to figure this out. Its a process.

I read this over and over again here... you understand this is a team of grown men and not video game players? Fisher knows a lot more about the players and what's going on with that squad than anyone on this board. Im pretty sure about that. Considering the projections from most of these posters we also have a pretty good record and have a nice mix of developing young players while still competing every night

Just because you have rings as a roll player doesnt make you a good coach by any means. More than half the coaches in the NBA right now have never even played in the NBA, that was brought up on NBA tv a few days ago.

Some of you consistantly give the coaching staff a pass because they were part of phils championship staff. Magic won 5 rings and tried to coach the lakers and he was a laughing stock.

I know kahn was an idiot, but Rambis said uptempo was not winning basketball, that sounds like a guy stuck in his ways like my grand father. You have to change with the times, nothing stays the same for ever, what worked 10 yrs ago is not going to work now.

You cant lose 10 games in row and go into the 11th game with the same plan, adventually no ones going to listen to you.

There needs to be a realistic reckoning of what this roster is by some people here. A lot of us figured .500 would be a good season for this team. They're essentially a .500 team. It'd be nice if KP and Grant developed a little by the end of the season, but unless we bring in more talent, we ain't gonna be able to win more than 45 games max.

76% of those who participated thought 31-40 wins was about right.

That means 3/4 of the faithful here did not think .500 was attainable.
Im going to stick by that. I would say this team did better earlier than I thought. I expected improvement as the year went by.
Injuries, rookie walls, etc are all part of the matrix.

Im sure some of you have moved the bar up which is your prerogative, but ranting about like the team is an abject failure with a coaching staff not worthy of our group is bizzare.

Half of those coach's never played ball at the high level that is the NBA. You make it like its a good thing. They got into coaching because they could not play in the NBA. That's a career choice.

They get a pass because they functioned as successful assistants which produced championships. They succeeded as assistant coach's and are now assistant coach's. Magic was a star player who did not succeed as a head coach. Get it. Your logic makes no sense.

Fish was a good player who had lots of cred as a team leader on and off the court. He succeeded as the player rep for the union. He has succeeded in things that lend itself to being a good coach. It is hoped that he is developing into one.

Make a list of coach's and assistants you think are available and can install the system Phil wants to use.

76% thought 31-40 wins... but going by the playoffs poll 46% thought we'd still be the 8th seed - and over 50% thought we'd make the playoffs.

I think what's messing with a lot of people is that the East has improved. If we were 14-15 but also the 8th seed, I think there'd be a lot less complaining. But we're the 11th seed, so we can't just be mediocre and make the playoffs. We have to be pretty good to make the playoffs.

Im not saying im some basketball guru, but many ppl like 85% of them thought KP was going to need 2 yrs to have a impact, I knew from the very first SL game that he was going to be big for us right now. Like he needed to get stronger, which is some what true, but you can but you barely breath on a player now a days.

These analyst sit up there and voice their opinion without doing proper research. Even when Fisher admits his fault's with his rotation, and knows he should have a better grasp on things, you guys still pat him on the back and say its okay.

I know if i shelled out 30 million dollars i expect to see immediate dividends. 4-1 is cool, but when that one loss comes at the expense of you trying something that has proven to be a failure(playing to many players) i don't want to here sht.

Let me asked you guys this one question.

If you won 4 straight games playing certain guys and a certain pace, would you change up on the 5th game just to give sasha some minutes knowing you have been losing when you have gone that route?

Do you think thats smart?

I don't give the coaching staff a pass because they were part of Phil's staff, i give Fisher a pass because he's learning as he goes and he has a whole new team trying to learn a new offense and we don't have a great team right now which i knew going into the season but i think the KP6 hype and the way he started out so hot kinda made people forget that we're still a work in progress and this team we have is not the finished product that Phil has in mind. We're still early into the season so i think we'll get better as the season goes on but even so we're still gonna struggle to get to that 8th seed.
