http://nypost.com/2015/12/20/two-women-steal-750000-in-jewelry-from-a-new-york-knick/

Derek got ripped off by two girls in his apartment. He flaunts his bling on the internet effectively telling everyone he has it, and the dumbass not smart enough to have a safe for it.

IM sure he is humiliated by his stupidity. If he thinks jewelry is a good investment I hope he knows what he is doing. The world if flooded with very high end pieces that often don't appreciate because its the craftsmanship that is valued not the material (aka: Gold).

This is what we talk about by being professional. Take care of your body and take care of your ****. Dude got rolled, now he is distracted.

DWill has some maturity issues. If he ever grows up, he could be an all world talent. But this is one reason why the Lance Thomases of the world get more run than him and will ultimately probably have a longer career.

I don't know, he didn't really look too distracted against Los Bulls. But yeah, hopefully this sort of thing doesn't happen too often. Not the jewelry theft, obviously, but more the late night going out and potentially compromising your game, especially on a BACK TO BACK. C'mon Dwill, you know better than that!
Then again, maybe he felt like he should lay things out on a more level playing field, making things more fair for Los Bulls? Good sportsmanship? I'll take that spin.

Someone better tell KP to lock up his Benz!

I do think this is a hard thing about being a Knicks player. NYC is a city obsessed with wealth, but even more with fame. Knicks players are always gonna be targets for some icky folks who want that proximity to fame and wealth for whatever reason.

I hear you, but I don't think it's isolated to just NYC. This could just as easily have happened in Milwaukee. I'm from the NYC area and I'm not obsessed with wealth, and most of the people I know aren't either. Those that are looking to cheat or steal or whatever from celebrities, professional athletes, etc.... they're everywhere, man.

That's true - they are everywhere, for sure. But in NY, there are more, I think. People come to NY precisely for that reason. I grew up 30 miles west of the city and have lived there for 20 years. I just see it happen a lot. Probably happens a ton in LA, too. DWill gotta be more careful.

And I hope KP doesn't fall victim to this - his parents had to go back to Latvia, I think, because their visas expired. I think his brothers are still around, though. Not sure.

New York is certainly different. Phil Jackson woo-woo stuff is a much harder sell here. It was easier in LA, by far . . .

This wasnt a NYC thing. Inviting folks you just met to your house as a millionaire is definitely a stupid thing to do. Cant blame the city for having idiots as residents. He constantly advertises his goods on instagram, basically bragging. Somebody is gonna try him if he allows them so close and thats exactly what they did.

Don't blame the dude for the incident. He is young, single, with a lot of money. He went out on a Friday to clear his head and got it on with a couple of gold diggers. That's just that. Rodman did worse and he won a few championships under Phil tutelage. This where Carmelo the leader can help. Let's hope this is the last time his name pops on the news for such incident

When Dwil wins some, then we can compare.

Nobody said it cost us a win, the kid needs to be smarter about watching his own back. Could happen in any city.

This guy has not developed properly after being the 2nd pick and I suppose he just a good kid blowing off some steam, but he has tools to be a great player. it cost JR tens of millions of dollars.

He is Plaxico Burress stupid, not Stephon Marbury stupid. This dude will likely shoot himself in the foot (sic) but at least he won't be seeing "The Light"
