Will we know something tomorrow?
I remember him well from Miss St (big body, long arms, effort guy, good on the boards). I know he's not exactly Hakeem on the blocks, but what's his offensive game these days? Decent footwork? Knock down the 10 foot open look?
Can anybody offer an updated scouting report (especially regarding the stuff that isn't common knowledge....the offensive side of the ball)?

Pros

Worked hard last summer for his final contract year. He is a premier rebounder. Conditioning is no question. He's good for a block and a half a game. Gets his points off of hustle plays. Early injuries and limited playing time has limited his contributions. Increased his shot attempts and FG percentages last season (career highs).

Cons

Worked hard last summer for his final contract year. You won't run any plays for Dampier. Has had two operations. Gets his points off of hustle plays. Sub 70 percent ft shooter. Turned 30 on July 14. Played for the Warriors.

My scouting report on Damp is that the dude has crazy footwork in the post. He has a good touch on the hook and he can be really effective down low scoring the ball. His rebounding and defense is awesome though. He's not Ben Wallace but he is as good as anyone at that center spot. He lead the league in offensive rebounding which says alot. With him and Sweetney the Knicks will be getting alot of second chance points.

The problem is he is lazy. He'll score like 20/20 one night then get 6/8 the next. He complains that it's GS's fault for not giving him the ball. We'll see because the Knicks most likely will be dumping him the rock alot. Knicks have to do the trade and just worry about the cons of it later.

This of course is my opinion.

this trade is the biggest no-brainer in the history of not... having.. brain.... ers.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I wonder how Dampier compares with some other prominent big men... like Olowokandi. Is he like Olowokandi's defensive twin?... sometimes motivated, sometimes not so much?

One of the knocks on Dampier is that his hands are merely average (tho perhaps not quite as stoney as Ewing or Mutombo's)... however, unlike these Georgetown alumns, Dampier is supposedly a pretty decent passer (Georgetown has had a way of producing black holes)...

I find it interesting that Dampier was traded for Mullin back in 97...
