What we really don't know is what is wrong with knicks.
And are they really that bad, or was the 2 games over .500 a false water mark and thus we have inflated expectations? Who should coach? Depends on who or what is the problem. Lots of season to go and lots of things can happen.
Personally I did not expect to be god awful but I was not expecting playoffs.
Fish never coached before??
I'm talking about the Brian SHaw's and Mark Jackson's of the world
Mark Jax won 23 games his first season. We already won 10. Jax is not fit to be part of an organization given his personality and he proved himself of this in Golden State.
Brian Shaw struck out in Denver but to his credit he lost his GM and they changed direction on him. If you read what makes SAS so good and what Golden State Myers who came from there has said that whole chain of command has to be on the same page and be trusting. Shaw lost that in Denver.
So basically this "lets change after 6 weeks" is totally against what most good teams have done in the past. Kerr succeeded in GS because he was compatatble with what they wanted, had been part of the chain in PHX (Welt, the GS president came from PHX) and Kerr was friends with the owner. Jax was not in synch with this. He was an early hire by GS but the culture around him changed.
IN NY, you have a chain and personel in place that is committed to building this. This is why when fans start recommending someone its not with thought. Now, if Fish does not want to coach anymore or comes to a crossroad in his life that he feels he made a mistake then yes, Im all for the change. Since I don't have any inside information I can't really speculate on whats going on if anything is in fact going on.
Brian Shaw did have assistant coaching before he took over Denver.
I agree Fish is not a finished product, but unless you want a retread then this is the kind of guy who is learing on the job. Brad Stevens in Boston is on record saying his first year was a learning experience and he did not do a good job and he was a head coach in college!!!!!! He is growing on the job!!
Keep replacing guys after a bad 4-5 games? I don't think that's a good way.
