So Melo wants the pace to pick up (as we all do). My problem is Melo doesn't run, cut or move without the ball very well/much. Also, the other players seem to move around until the shot clock gets under 10 and then Melo gets the ball in an iso situation. In fairness to Melo, his shooting is probably lower because of this pacing and having limited firepower around him. Even Afflalo plays similarly - except he stations himself and/or shoots from the wing. Point is this stagnation is what needs to change. Our bench guys play faster (D.Williams, Grant) but aren't consistent enough to play major minutes. I would move Melo to the 2nd unit and start L.Thomas in his place if this were plausible. Looking at the construction of the lineup (built around Melo shooting well and using the triangle), there aren't many changes that won't seem to create other problems that will need to be addressed again later on. At this point, KP and Lopez are a package deal. Having Afflalo and Melo on the floor together offers more firepower, but also makes for stagnant offense (each taking turn playing 1 on 1). Have we ever seen a cutting Afflalo receiving a pass from Melo or vice versa? As bad offensively as Admundson is, he may be someone who can help more in pinches - more so then O'Quinn as he moves faster and can still guard and outhustle smaller centers. All of these concerns exist without mentioning Calderon... thoughts/feedback about these issues or how to address them?

Carmelo is a willing passer, but not when he is given the ball with less then 8 seconds on the shot clock. For players like Carmelo to convert into an all around guy, the coach needs to call out plays to constantly keep him from reverting to old habits. I have seen several instances where the flow is really smooth, but all of a sudden, it changes. The problem is not just Carmelo, it is the entire team that is undisciplined; this is where a good maestro needs to step in::)))
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Here is what is going on the player who is hurting the team the most is talking about pacing. A half court player talking about pacing a player that was getting beat on defense is talking about pacing. A player who rarely runs up the court to get easy baskets is talking about pacing.

This system doesn't fit Melo it just doesn't if he hasn't noticed he is one of players hurting pacing. He has become a plodder and he doesn't even know it.

Once on the floor Melo is the one that is deciding not to use the system to its full. For one thing he does sometimes use V Cuts to get open shots, but he doesn't use Curls or use screens enough. Any wing or guard can call for a screen at anytime. It's just basic basketball to want to score as easily as possible, but Melo makes things harder for himself. He's an EXCELLENT PnR ball handler but seldom does he use it. He could make things easier for any of his teammates and in particular KP and RoLo could benefit from Melo playmaking in a 2 man game with either big.
