We did not lose because of Rolo tonight. He played 15 minutes and shot 3 for 5 with 2 boards and an assist. He has had much worse nights.

The main problem with Rolo is that he is shooting way lower than his career avg's (TS of 57 career, this year 49). Why? Just look at his shot chart and all the shots that he is now being asked to take that are not efficient (for him and for pretty much all of the bigs that we have brought in).

He is being severely misused and asked to create offense that he is not good at. What a waste!

He is not hurt and not old, so what changed? Its kind of obvious.

Was he beat by small ball tonight? Of course not, Paculia was out there.

He has always been a good defender so lets not even go there. The issue is post offense that is fugly!

He sets the best picks on the team, so lets not go there. We just don't do it that much unfortunately.

He needs to be a cleanup man off DEEP PENETRATION which we don't get and which is hard to get with the triangle spacing.

You guys can all jump on the Rolo sucks bandwagon or you can look for the clues as to why this is happening.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

He is being severely misused? Who do you blame for that?
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

no but he is the one who is force implementing this system. Thinking this is fishers idea is of course silly.

Rolo is not right for this system. To run most of our offense through him is suicide. His defense isn't good either. Why can't he lift his arms over his head to alter or block a shot?

There is no way in hell Phil instructs fisher to run the offense through RoLo. No freaking way

ha! so at least we now have a new opinion from you.

YOU ARE DEAD WRONG! OF COURSE THIS IS COMING FROM PHIL!

Who's ideas was it last year to run the offense through Dalembert? Fisher?

He doesn't put up his hands on defense, and constantly hunches down making himself smaller than he actually he is which is the total opposite of defensive fundamentals. I'm not saying he's a bad defender and I'm sure you've looked at his def numbers like opp fg% and drtg and concluded he is a solid defender, but he's been failing the eye test lately which is why he is being called out by some.

I agree with you that we NEED to run more PnR though and that trying to turn Lopez into a post player that the offense centers around is not in either his or the team's best interest

when your guards are getting crushed by PnR then your bigs can look bad as the last line of defense.

Look how bad KP looked tonight. TERRIBLE.

These 2 together as zach lowe stated are a top 5 defensive duo.

But why can't he lift his arms? Is the 15 minutes that he plays many nights tiring him out too much??

Did you see him defend Monroe the other night? He looked like he was in a fencing stance most of the night.

Rolo needs to get faster or play off the bench he is a teir three center he should come off the bench when the other team has a slow big guy at center... Of course he can't contain Monroe, monroe is a pf KP would do a better job on him ... The NBA is evolving and players like Lopez slow/bruiser are going to be weened out ... Best option/chance is to move him when we can trade deadline

KP is our future center and our best line ups now are with KP at the 5 ... I like Rolo but eventually there won't be any room for him on this team other then spot minutes...

I'm sure a lot of it is the system but even his shots at the rim are not falling at the same rate this year. He's at 55% this year vs. anywhere between 65 and 69% the last 3 years.

I don't know if the lack of penetration is on the system, Fisher's implementation of the system or personnel.

I think it's probably a combination of all three.

I do think a more traditional offense would be better. Personally, I think would be perfect here right now with this squad (minus maybe Melo) and I dare say might have a few more wins in the W column- same opponents, same players, same injuries, etc.

Could be because the quality of those shots are different. Uncontested dish offs compared to 1:1 shots he's creating for himself. His assisted % is down 20% from last year.

I'm in agreement with the origional post....this is the wrong system for rolo. I dont want to see KP banging with the deandre jordans and the beefier 5s but i do thinkwe will see more time for him there. Willie H's style of play prob fits better for this system. I'd move rolo if the right situation came around.
