"New York's Mike Sweetney dominated play in the first half with 24 points and finished the game with a game-high 30 points and 15 rebounds."

Knicks pretty much dominated the whole game. They let Golden State make a comeback in the 4th quarter but we still got the win 89-86.

Nice game by Sweets

"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

Sweetney seems to be gettin better by every game as he is rounding into gameshape mentally as he finally gets the minutes. If he continues this kind of domination, then one might start lookin into comparing him to Randolph's story, who absolutley destroyed the summer leagues the year before he broke out in the playoffs.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I love seeing this kind of mega performance out of Sweetney. I can't wait to see the boxscore to see his FG percentage and how much he got to the line.

Was it televised?

I hope not cuz I will feel bad that I missed it.

Sweetney so far has only really showed great passing out the post and ability to get to the line. He hasn't really tried to score too much. Geez I wish I would have saw his 30pts.....no matter how you slice it 30pts is 30pts.

Zeke thinks Sweetney can be Elton Brand II. He reminds me of Lonnie Shelton. I have high hopes for him and love how he fills up the score sheet.

Wow!

Great game from our Sweet! 30 pts. and 15 rebs. is just awesome, no matter if it is in the summer league. He really looks and plays so much like Elton Brand. I really hope he becomes that great low post player that we lack and really need.

we need to rebuild this team with younger athletic skill players with character and toughness. thats exactly why id ont want ANY part of antoine walker UNLESS its just to clear out sht contracts. Mike Sweetney NEEDS to start and play 35 minutes. He might take some bumps and bruises, but thats how you get better.

3 years ago denver has juwan howard and nve as their main players on a shtty team

and look at them today.

30 and 15 in summer league is definitely at least 20 and 12 in the pros!

Sweetney in 5 games is averaging

19.9 points 9.9 rebounds shooting 56.5%

a guy who has played well
for denver skita
in 3 games averaging
25 points 7 rebounds shooting 50%

the best rookies so far have been devin harris followed by two Celtics Al Jefferson and Tony Allen LAL Sasha Vujonic and Arajuo at C.
I think Ariza is either second or third team. He was on a pace for first team but leveled off. Hes got to learn the mid range jumper--hes will be very good IF he stays away from the 3 pt shot learns a 14 footer and stays with posst ups drives and energy play.

nice to see him improve. Hope he'll get some more PT next season. He deserves it.

that alone, should help us "improve from inside".

the best thing you can hope for is more games like this. this should deter isiah from pursuing a power forward that would take minutes away from sweets. but i still think if isiah brings in toine, it won't hinder sweetney's development b/c i'm almost positive he's going to use toine as a 3 and 4 with him and sweetney on the court at the same time.

good to see Sweetney doing so well. He could be really fine player. But let's all remember, these are summer league games.
