Are you hoping he can become simply a good role player? A good starter? Or are you hoping he can become one of those few 2nd round picks who go on to become NBA all-stars?

My hopes are high.

There is only tiny tim on his way, and he could get significant playing time next season.

THe guy seems to have the whole potential package, and above all, has great attitude and showed a great will to learn.

With his speed and quickness he could fill in at the 2 also, if H20 is done as it seems he might be. Yes, his jumper needs to improve but if he can play post against SF's he can against SG's too. In addition he is a good passer and he takes it to the hole.

This kid has Po-tential. If his work ethic is top notch, then he COULD be very good. The thing is he is only 19, so lets give him 3 years before he is completely judged. At that time he should've only been a SR in college. Chances are he would have been a lottery pick then.

The kid is nice.....

Dude has everything except a jumpshot....He reminds me of a Jerry Stackhouse or Clyde Drexler type. Dude got game for real.

I think he might press himself into the starting line-up one day. I think is potential is off the charts. When they interview him he always mentions the amount of new things he's learning. He seems willing to learn and get better. I can't wait till the kid steps on a MsG court.

He's only 19!

Well, after catching him in a summer game on MSG and reading all this good vibes on him...I have come to conclusion that I view Mr.Ariza as a hybrid of Ak-47 with Shawn Marion's athletic inside skills. No doubt he is a keeper for the Knicks or should I say a finder.

Personally, if I see Shandon get mins over Ariza...I will blow off. Seriously.
Knicks are happening and have a Unicorn.

I see him in the James Posey mold. The way he was handling the ball was very reminiscent of Scotte Pippen.

Let's hope that he is a diamond in the rough.

I see him riding the bench next year for the most part unless someone gets hurt and hopefully he will develope into a good nba player after a couple of years

I think you would be right Guns if previous management was still running the show.
Lenny really showed us that he is willing to play rookies and work them in to the rotation if even for very limited spurts last year.
I'm glad that is the case as the previous 3 or 4 coaches we've had were absolutely terrible at developing young talent and giving them minutes.

everyone's hopes for whomever the knicks get is that they turn out to be all stars. hey, ariza has some good skills and that's a good starting point. only time will tell what he'll flourish into. he's athletic, he's quick, he can pass, he can run, and he can jump but most importantly, he's young and raw. just having him on the roster will help and most likely, he won't see too much action unless we dump a ton of people. he would get probably around 10 mins or less even on charlotte so let's be patient and see what happens. look at frank's development from year one to year two and he didn't even get off the bench the first time around.

also, let's quit with the labeling on what type of player he could become. as others have said, let's wait and see what we have.

A solid NBA reserve/role player who can come off the bench and contribute with some rebounds, steals, defense, playmaking and energy.

I have high hopes for the kid, his skill set already at 19 is good enough to get him some minutes in the NBA, the skies the limit for this kid...

The sky is the limit for guys that have a lot of potential. But only they reach to the stars when they have the commitment on learning and working hard. I think that with his potential he can become a good player, but if he is really determined on learning everyday, working hard on his game and being patient in his development, he could be something special. And I think that hunger for knowledge that he has shown so far will make him become something very special.

But only time will tell.

Quality role player/weak starter. He'll be very good defensively and off the dribble, but his outside shooting is and will always be weak.

Why always? He is young. He wasn't born playing basketball so he learned that with time. His shooting can improve if he works on it. He will learn a lot and anything that needs to be improved will be improved if he works on it. Isiah seems to like this guy and if he sees real potential on him Im sure he will asign somebody to help him improve his game. Its not like what we see is what we get. He has a lot of room for improvement.
