1. If Jose had a good game last nite its because he needed to play into it. He looked great!
2. KP did not "Kristap" anyone last nite, and his first quarter was amazing. Great ball movement.
One might say "They need to do that all the time....." Understand Charlotte adjusted to him and he got in foul trouble early. After that they denied him the ball but he got 15 rebounds.
7-3 and active he just plucks the ball over people.
3. Affalo had a good game. He forced some things and was not in synch but he did great for first game back.
4. Melo 1st half was not good. Team was still doing well. He got hot in the 2nd but he did not cost us the game.
5. Good loss? We had the game in hand but could not finish. Blame? I blame charlotte who ran a great play to go ahead. I blame Lin who had a great game. Sometime you lose and sometimes you get beat. Batum was great and Charlotte is a pretty good team and well coached.
6. All in all this team is competitive and has to lose close games to learn how to win them. Rarely does one go from 17 wins to over .500 seemingly overnite without teaching moments.
7. KP delivery is not the quickest but that's because the man is huge, and that was the difference. So basically KP fingers was the difference in the game. I can live with this loss.

They are competitive and play with heart. Now we need to consistently adapt as our opponents defenses adapt. There are many different looks we can go with with some of the pieces we have in place. There is no need to get stagnant in the offense when the defense adapts to the tri. Melo and Lopez in the PNR worked wonders vs Raptors. Grant/KP pnr or pop has tons of potential. Use screens to free Melo up off the ball for some good looks.

Its a good point. Basically we nor any of phils teams ran 100% triangle. Melo to me is trying to find his game and I do think its coming along. Melo is passing and 2nd in assists. He is playing harder on Defense and rebounding well.
On offense I see when he gets the ball he either moves it quickly or starts into ISO ball. SInce the team is clearing out for him (they used to for Michel and Kobe and despite youtube's showing otherwise, they did miss shots!!) I would like to see him receive the ball in the flow and get easier shots. Those Iso and fall back jumpers are not easy. He got hot last nite but I'd like to see him be more in the flow and the game easier for him.

Perhaps this is in progress as well.

I saw some good things last nite. KP nearly had a big moment.

It's a great sign that Kristaps made a clutch shot at the buzzer even if it didn't count. This bodes well for his future and the future of the Knicks.

Yesterday the Knicks actually showed me some great Triangle action. They were moving faster and with purpose and the passing came faster. They had some turnovers, but they also had a lead playing that way. It's a good sign for the future because the speed that they execute this offense with will make it much harder for the D to deal with. This group of guys will in time learn which are their favorite plays and be able to get into them more often and much sharper. Team Chemistry is starting to form.

The tough part of the game yesterday was that the Hornets have REALLY talented bench guards and they gave our bench a tough time. Our guys are young and still learning. We have to deal with them getting schooled from time to time against more experienced players. All season so far our bench has gotten the better of the other team but the Hornets won that battle this time. It's gonna happen.

I am not sure that that Kp has a "slow" release. The pass was really low for him. It may have been fine for a 6 3 player but not for a 7 3 guy.
so here is what phil is thinking ....

Good post, and I agree.

I missed the game, but Melo has never been able to add value, when he's forced to play team ball. Melo's is getting paid max money for what he's known for, ISO ball.

Basically, we gave Melo 120 million, because he's the best 1 on 1 player.....Then we frown on him for his ISO plays. Breaking news.....if it wasn't for Melo's historical ISO plays, he would be a max player.

So until Melo stops trying to be like the other superstars, and just play within the system, he will get out of this slump. Or he will continue to be in a slump most of the year, until he's back into ISO Melo shape. He really needs another sit down with Phil Jackson soon! It worked last time.

I don't remember exactly when, but I thought I remember Phil and Melo having a sit down about the future and the triangle system......Then Melo came out a had a good stretch of games right after that discussion. OR maybe it was Phil's discussion with the Media about Melo.......mmmmmmm

Yes it does. Hopefully Phil and co. can keep the kid away from the media as much as possible.

Lol. There is no way they can COMPLETELY keep him away from the media. That would just be impossible. Keep them away as much as possible so their infectious and obnoxious negativity doesn't start to corrupt his mind and/or his game.

He'll be fine. His brother is his agent and manager:

His whole family played basketball and he's extremely close and grounded by them. Even his mother was a former center:
