It is sad to say, but the Knicks only has one true PG on the roster at the moment. Calderon is suited to be a back up SG; specifically, due to his age, lack of foot speed, and defensive liability. Yes, Galloway can step in and bring the ball up at times, but he is not a natural. Although it has never been a strong part of the triangle, but all Phill's teams have always had two true ball handlers. Therefore, I believed for the Knicks to have a solid season, it is imperative that they bring in someone to either be the starting PG or backup if Grant is going to start.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Is he really that good mreinman? He looks a lot like Galloway to me minus the defense

don't really know much about him but he was touted by some UK draft gurus and now he is available so we are hearing a lot about him again.

I think missing Affalo has hurt us more than Jose and that says a lot judging by how bad Jose has been. Though, he looks to have turned things around offensively - I think he will be ok there.
Once we get Affalo back for a few weeks, we will see a different team. And at that point, I think we need to consider Grant becoming the starting PG.

But yeah, we do need another pg. Calderon can get hurt again and it would be wise to have a guy in practice learning now. Erik Green I like, but not sure about his PG skills, scoring yes.

I would give Toure Murry another shot- he seems to fit into Phil's told of a PG, and showed some promise first time he was with us. Plus he's long- can't remember if he was a good defender or not.

C'mon guys. There is pattern to building a culture and while we fans of course have no say we at least should respect that just moving in players rarely does change things.
For the most part Jose is not playing big minutes unless he is player well. He has not been finishing all games.
This is a young team and getting grant and Galloway battle tested is a big deal.

The team needs a long ball threat other than Melo, that opens things up a lot. Affalo is that guy. If he can hit his shots the team's complexion will change. Sasha somes out of the rotaton.

The flip side to this is fisher not panicing and changing the line up every nite. we are 3-4 and by most accounts a .500 season would be a major lift to the franchise. one would think the latter part of the season would see this team more ingrained than its first 10 games.

I am pleased with this team thus far. Of course we need upgrades, but we also talking about upgrading the upgrades by some accounts. Ropez is an upgrade and some are being critical of him. Melo is not in synch but he is passing and rebounding MORE than I can recall as a knick.

Work in progress. Do we need a PG who has been cut by another team? I doubt it. Does our staff think Jose can get his shot back? As long as they keep playing him, that seems to be the theory. Im down for change but I want to see chemistry and a culture of respect. That's why we are 3-4.

We are on the road to respectability! They say the journey is the fun part!

Lorenzo Brown is a slightly older, more experienced Jerian Grant. He has an incredible assist/ turnover ratio in his short NBA career and was the best defensive point guard on the Timberwolves deep team. He's also the same size as Jerian. Should also be considered if he's still available.

My kid went to NC State and saw a lot of him, and rooting for his success! Not sure why he tried to break in with Minny and he looks to have done ok there. He has good size and his shot has improved.
He need to land with a team that can play him. with Tyus jones, LaVine and Andre Miller on the team he needed to get out of there.

I suppose the first thing we as fans can understand is he a "Phil Jax" type player? Can he "triangle"? After that, he willing to do a stint in Westchester?

I am pleased with what I have seen from this team as well, but I am not happy at all with Calderon as our (starting) PG. it is not a matter of him not hitting his shots, he was never a defender; and he can't penetrate the paint to space the floor. His skills set are better suited for the backup SG position, because he can at some point regain his shooting touch. Just like we no longer view Carmelo as a quick enough guy to play the SF position, we are to look into playing Calderon off the ball

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

And probably a new coach, because fisher has found away to make grant look like a undrafted rookie. This is after he looked great in sl and preseason.

I am not sure a dleague player or whatever will really solve anything. We have 3 guys who currently play minutes at pg. Unless a trade comes up, I expect us to ride this group out until offseason when we can possibly sign Conley, or Vasquez as a backup option. Grant will get there at some point, but it might take a couple years. Until he can fix his shot, he's a change of pace backup.

Jerian started playing poorly and THEN Fish started limiting his minutes and playing Sasha. If Jerian had been ballin out there's no way Fish isn't playing him. Besides this is very much a teaching and development project for Fish and his staff. When you have a lot of young players it has to be.

Jerian and our other younger players are still in need of development and there will be ups and downs like this. We aren't the only team with young players who struggle with consistency.

That's a main reason why you cant look at sl ands preseason play and make defining assessments. Plenty of player have looked good on those levels and look poor in real competition. Jerian grant is strugglling because of Jerian Grant. Once he figures out himself, then he'll get more minutes on top of the already consistent minutes he still gets.
