I'll play. Who's he better than?

Kareem
Wilt
Russel
Jordan
Magic
LBJ

To name a few.....

You certainly have a flair for making overly dramatic statements. Can we let the kid's career play out before we anoint him all time great.

As always, when the average fan ranks a player in the top 5 or as the best, DEFENSE is never considered..SMH...this aint football...offensive players have to play on the otherside of the ball too...

Top five natural shooter? Maybe, though still a tough call. Top five player all time? LOL, pump the brakes.

Curry is a special player...He is doing things you never saw before..Like Dr.J, Iverson, Magic, MJ, Wilt, Kareem etc before him...I'll stop very short of saying he is stop five all time..But he could be a great player..He overcame in the playoffs last season...He had to take his game to the next level to win it all and he did that...It was kind of strange watching it at the time...Houston had two 37 years olds guarding him...Cavs had Deladova guarding him...Memphis didn't have anyone, so the jury is still out for me...I want to see other teams take it to him and make him play defense on the other end, another way the game has changed...But he is good, really good...

And this is the reason you like basketball as a sport..The individual creativity...Guys can show up doing things you have never seen before..Much tougher in other sports...

Top 5 all time??? Nope...not yet.

Also feel that this is like the "steroid" era for a certain kind of player.

PGs/SGsare given a lot more deference by the rules limiting defenders, and although they've supposedly made an attempt to address the palming issue, I'm still amazed at how often some guys do it.

With that said, Curry might be the best, or one of the best, of all time in how he can put up his J in minimal space. Amazing how he can find a seam in the D and get off a good shot, and he has really patented that low vertical leap jumper of his, where he gets it off with no concern for opponents because of his quick release and the fact that defenders are used to dealing with a different kind of release point. You almost have to anticipate the shot before he begins it to have any chance affecting it- and this is almost impossible to do.

Really incorporates his legs into the shot and minimizes the swinging arm motion. When he is shooting well and into the flow, its great thing to sit back and appreciate unless he is doing it to your team.

Pretty sure that Steph's dad had a similar kind of release, but he was never the ball handler or complete player, obviously.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

He might certainly be the best shooter ever, and its interesting to see how that impacts his team and makes others around him better. Like how Rodman's rebounding and defense made others better was an a cornerstone of 5 titles. But Rodman didn't score.

Is Curry better than Gary Payton or even John Stockton?

Curry is a champ and an MVP but his team also ran into a lot of luck in those playoff matchups.

I guess Curry needs some longevity but purely from watching with my eyes I can't name 5 better players that I have seen.

Curry is certainly the best shooter I have ever seen especially under duress. It's like he doesn't feel the defense at all...Never seen a player shoot off the dribble like he does, hand in his face or not. Unbelievable concentration level and quick release.

I believe Curry surprises so many players because he does things on the court most players won't try outside of a playground for fear of getting benched. Some of us have seen guys on the playgrounds of NYC who had just a good a handle or better than Currys'. I know Eny saw Booger play.

As far as a quick release, that can be taught, more surprised we dont see more players on Curry's level. What really sets Curry apart IMO is his consistency in spite of teams, season after season, trying to come up with ways to neutralize a player who has the physique of a college freshman. Couldn't have been done without a first rate basketball mind.

He is hands down the best shooter ever. There is nobody that I can think of that has his ability to handle the way he does and shoot off the dribble shooting at like 50% or higher. With the ball he can cross you up. Without the ball he runs around threw screens gets open and hits jumpers. He is also fast enough and can finish around the basket or create for others so you can't just D him up which gives him all the freedom in the world to shoot.

he has actually become a really good defender as well.

Probably the best shooter that I have ever seen. Bird and Nash were great shooters too but Curry's release is ridiculous.

As far as best ever, that is kind of crazy ... he barely beat out harden for MVP this season and the players voted harden as the mvp.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

also, anthony davis is up there too and is a predicted mvp this year.

so, probably not such a wide margin.

Cant forget Westbrook, wasnt the case a few seasons ago. He's looking more like a complete player. Westbrook attacks the rim like few players in the league.

no way! I don't like him though he was crazy good for half a season (not nearly enough).

If this is Currys peak and he maintains it he will be considered an all time great. Yet if he is still ascending and begins to separate himself from Westbrook and Harden - and LBJ - then we're saying sky's the limit.

I was really referring to the way he came out of the gate.

his WS48 this year is .646.

his TS is 76.
