for 6 years i think, wierd considering thats not realli warriors weak point. they got nve and speedy claxton, might lead to knicks trade where we take nve.

that is an odd signing but how many odd signings have there been? that puts GS cap number at 47.5mm if dampier wants more than the 8.5 he was going to get, it's not likely to come in a sign and trade because that would put GS over the luxury tax threshold. there is almost no way that i can see financially how they can sign and trade Dampier if they want to stay under that 53mm # he has one option--take the 5 years 50mm from Atlanta oR take an MLE from someone--other than that, the Clippers are the only other team that can pay him and they wont.

MOstly its the owners call as to how much they want to spend.
Stats are not everyting, sometimes guys are real aszholes and do you want to give 70mil to a guy you can't stand? Fish is a solid citizen and a pro with experience. Arenas is talented, but runs his mouth. That migh be your clue. PG should be a leader with character.

mullin is doing a pretty damn bad job up there. not only did he ok the nick van exel trade, but then followed that up with $40 mil for derek fisher. so who starts? oh, don't forget about speedy.
and then he decides to take foyle at $8/per instead of ponying up $10/per for a playre 10x better in dampier.
he's really making a good case on how not to build a contender. you think j-rich is gonna hang around?

Its strange from the player's standpoint. Fisher is more like a very good backup for a playoff team. Maybe he is just happy with the rings he got in LA and just wanted to ensure his future. Still, Fisher in a team like the Warriors is just odd.

I think with this signing we could work something out where Nick Van Exel and Kurt Thomas go to Dallas, Erick Dampier and Antonie Walker to the Knicks, Golden State getting expiring contracts, Muhammed and then Dallas and NY taking on some bad contracts. To do this though, we would have to use every piece that would be used in a Crawford deal. It adds up if Dallas takes Eshenmeyer, and GS takes Muhammed, Lattnear, Harrington, Trybanski, Mutombo. Why they would do that I dont know. We still in theory could send Shandon Anderson and Frank Williams to Chicago for Jamal Crawford and E Robinson, but we'd have to find a third team to take on Moochie Norris in exchange for an expiring contract to send to chicago, and also hope that pigs fly to a frozen hell. But you never know. If would all work if Golden State took Penny Hardaway along with Nazzy Muhammed, maybe plan to be low on the cap in 2006. But I dont think they want to think that far ahead, although they should.
I don't care what people think. People are stupid. - Charles Barkley
They'll want to get rid of NVE, who was never happy to be there and maybe eschmayer who's dead wood.
can we absorb that in order to get damp ? that's a lot of bad stuffs to add to our team for only a center that still has to prove that he can play out of a contract yr...

you dont get it. they haev a payroll right now of 48mm with only 11 guys signed. no matter what they do--they HAVE to take back 8-9 mm in salary--and they arent going to do that. Why do they need expiring contracts? for what purpose--they have none. the knicks will only get dampier if he decides to take the MLE and give up the 5 years 50mm the hawks are offering.
