Avg margin of victory is something like 28 points so far in this preseson. What exactly is the purpose of these games when there aren't even remotely competitive. I realize the NBA has the best players in the world, but this is not even fair, it's almost stupid.

Yet the international players are suppose to be more fundamental, and more professionally ready at a young age. Am i missing something?

yes you are missing something. the sole purpose of the international games is to get people from other countries interested in not only the game of basketball, but the nba. that's it.

To sell the NBA overseas..The growth of the game overseas have been astounding..People are getting up in the wee hours in the morning to watch games..Sell, Sell, Sell...

It will be more interesting, competitive, and lucrative to organize tournament in the framework of NBA preseason with overseas national teams involved. NBA clubs against Spain, France, Russia, Lithuanian national teams will be quite a battle.
Plus the interest in home countries will be much bigger.

The problem is that all the good international players are pretty much in the NBA

It's about getting the NBA players exposure and recognition in other countries..Showing people that the real game is being played here in the States...People will tune into games when they recognize players they have seen before...

I remember watching the World Cup many moons ago...Ivory Coast made a big run and played a controlled, mature game, given who they were and where they are from...Their best player was Didier Drogba...I followed him to the English Premier League when the World Cup was over...Chelsea had been one of the best teams when he was their striker, won UFEA Cup a few years ago and was first I think in the English Premier League a few years back...I wouldn't care if I didn't watch the World Cup, it matters...It's not about the lopsided games, it's about name recognition and follow the NBA there after...

While revenue in China is a small fraction of the overall business — the league will generate more than $5.5 billion in global revenue this season — Mr. Silver said the N.B.A. would eventually be bigger internationally than domestically, and Asia was the key factor.

“The U.S. represents less than 5 percent of the world’s population,” Mr. Silver said. “And we have, along with soccer, the most popular sport in the world.”

One thing to remember is that they are playing by NBA rules and court dimensions.
