Phenomenal start, let's assess some of the elements:

Melo -- showing why he is the third best player in the NBA
O'Quinn -- wow, his play matches his stellar personality. A star in the league but the league don't know it yet!
Pete Sampras -- can this guy finally give up on his dream of being a Knick point guard and just go back to playing tennis? Such a great tennis player, such a sh!tty point guard. Australian Open is in three months, leave us and start training for that.

Porz -- the kid is Teflon. He can sputter and stall, but we will always love him.
Sasha -- every other team seems to have a guy like him, now we have one. Solid pro, scorer, with his minutes he will not hurt his team. Love guys like him.
Stymie -- another solid player. We can trust him. Love the guy.

Lou, Lance -- thanks for the help last year
The Greek Freak's Brother -- the Cooper Manning of basketball

Derrick #1 -- we now see why he was a second round draft pick. Yes, the man can play and score.
Derek #2 -- This guy is clearly a lover not a fighter. A future Bill Cosby. Possibly a future OJ. Unstable. Shouldn't even be an usher at the Garden. He scares me. He needs to be removed.
Rebecca Harlot -- first three stories last night were all about the same guy (Grant)! Had to look down to her notes to recall the Colonel at West Point's name! Huge forehead, she should not push her hair back -- her forehead reminds me of a backboard. Fire Rebecca, bring back Tina!

Newbie here, first official post. So far I really like what I see. Our 2nd Unit - assuming it will be Grant, Gallo, DWill, The Mighty O'Quinn and Seraphin - has the potential to crush a lot of the other 2nd Units around the league. They have the potential to keep us close in tight games and really explode with teams that aren't very deep. I wouldn't be surprised at all if these guys see extended minutes during games.
I like what Sasha's bringing. Calderon looks healthy, hit a couple of 3's and racked up 7 assists against The Wizards. Melo looks like he hasn't missed a beat, even looks better than he did this time last year. Kristaps 'The Law' Porzingis is looking pretty good, much better than I thought he would at this stage. He bounced back very nicely from that 1st game where he only had like 2 rebounds. I was kind of impressed with that. The only guy in the starting line-up that's looking a little lost at times IMO is RoLo, but I'm not worried about him at all. A few more games and he'll click, and then we'll have a much stronger presence down low in the offense. But for the most part the guys are looking really comfortable out there with each other. Gallo and DWill seem to have already developed a connection. They could prove to be a very powerful combination.
I really like how Coach Fish is giving these guys a bit more freedom in the offense. DWill is a perfect example of why that could work out really well. Coach said, after the Wizards game, that he wasn't in the right spot a lot of times, but it didn't matter because he made things happen and got results. If he were trying to be very strict with how the offense runs and placement and positioning and all of that, DWill wouldn't have had the results he got during that game. He'd probably just be frustrated. One of the knocks on this guy in the past is the fact that a lot of times he seemed to be lazy and not interested. This guy's a pure explosive athlete. You have to let those kinds of guys run around a lot and be a little wild. Not out of control, just a little wild. They thrive on it. Between him and Grant, we SHOULD be seeing a lot more trips to the free throw line, something we lacked big time last year.
Speaking of Grant, he looks like he has serious potential to make rookie of the year.

I really like Quin, and when the signing happen, i remember going on the magic forum and the magic fans really appreciated this guy and wondered why they didn't push harder to re-sign him.

He almost reminds me of Oak a little, he sort of has the 18 footer, and doesn't jump much.

How much better is Monroe than O'Quinn? Both are big and relatively slow...Both have good wingspans, but Monroe is about an inch taller...both are decent passers...both are limited defensively because of their lack of quickness. Big difference is that O'Quinn might have the better midrange shot, and he came a lot cheaper.

Without having watched a lot either of them, OQ has been much better rated as a defender, much better than Monroe.

Better midrange and distance out to 3 point line, better defender, less than 1/4 the cost, same big butt.

Absolute steal, Phil won that one. He got Afflalo, OQuinn, DWillams for the same price as Monroe.

Yeah, I think Phil made the right play this past off season. This team needed more than one guy. It needed an overall infusion of NBA talent. At the very least, we can say the majority of the players on our team deserve to be on some team's bench. I couldn't say that last year. A few more players and I can see us being a legitimate playoff team next year.

Monroe is the better passer and can be a high usg offensive player. I like O'Quinn and hopefully he takes a major step and becomes a premier 3rd big

Too early but they looked pretty ugly against the Brazilian team(sorry I forget the name). They looked impressive against Washington. All that triangle hate is going to disappear this year as we now have real players to execute it. But I don't wanna get my hopes up too high already.

Monroe is not from Queens, though.

O'Quinn looks like a excellent passer for a guy who looks like the bruiser/enforcer type of player.

I was ready for Monroe to be on the team, but I'm glad we passed, and as Martin pointed out, we got three for one. Monroe also got a 3rd year player option for himself...the two bigs we picked up- Lopez and O'Quinn are with use for 4, and at least 3 years, respectively, perfect contracts for Kristaps and Hernangomez to mature and eventually replace them at some point.

KOQ also has a Turiaf type energy. He brings a lot of enthusiasm with his defense and offense. An invaluable asset to his team mates AND the fans. At 16 mil for 4 years, he may turn into the steal of the free agent signings.

Welcome to the Forum. I would say that I do think this team has a lot more aggressiveness this year. There are more players who take initiative when the play is there to be made. I like the wild card aspect to DWill cuz the defense never knows what he's gonna do. We're running the Triangle and then all of a sudden he just makes a run at the basket and it's startling to the defense. They don't seem ready for it. Same thing with Grant who will attack more aggressively than our other guards. It breaks up the predictability of the offense.

NO that's not quite what I mean. I'm talking more about his willingness to be aggressive rather than just stand there flustered when he's not sure what to do. There's always a certain amount of players going rogue in the offense. DWill will hopefully learn the right spots and how to be effective from them. In the meantime he's not letting that stop him from playing. Sometimes you just have to play ball and if you do that a least keeps the offense going rather than another meaningless or bad pass like we saw a lot of last year.
