This is the 2nd article I've seen listing him at 7'1"!

http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/18001.htm

With the Heat finally landing Shaquille O'Neal yesterday, Thomas would love to add the 7-foot-1 Dampier, a center he tried to acquire at last February's trading deadline.

he's huge. I remember being really close from him after a summer league game (he was in indiana by then).

7'1'' doesn't sound so exagerated. 7' for sure at least.

Why are you comparing the rebounding of an SF and a C?

SFs don't play nearly as close to the basket as Cs. TT is not a great rebounder, but you can't compare the rebounds of an SF and a C. One's playing on the perimeter half the time, whereas the other is always right under the basket.

KVH avg for career is 8 per game. Almost double as Gazy.

Damp is 7'1 now. Its amazing, Knick fans can even make a 30 year old man still grow! Ain't we somthing!

Oh, you want to be a player with the big names? Gotta get closer under the cap and have marketable players. Maybe Dolan added things up finally and told Isiah "WTF?"

unless dampier takes the MLE from the Knicks[still a plausible scenario as time goes by and $ dissappears] it doesnt matter if he is 6-0 or 8-0 tall because a sign and trade has now become almost fiscally improbable for a cheap team like GS now that they signed fischer.

How much luxury tax would the Warriors have to pay if they did a sign and trade if Damps starting salary was around $8 mil? The Knicks can give up to $3 mil in cash considerations to help the Warriors.

they only have 11 guys on the roster right now with the luxury tax at 54mm and payroll closing on 48. if you add 3 guys with 2 coming from the knicks for 8mm and the other lets say 1mm --thats a cap of 57mm of which they would have to pay 3mm or so. i dont think thats the issue. i think the issue is that this is small market club and spending an additional 9mm is highly unlikely. what can we give them? they have cliff robinson and troy murphy at PF they have Foyle Biedrins+eschmeyer at C. there is nothing we have that is worth increasing payroll 8+mm.

According to realgm, Mullin is "firm" about not involving his team in a "courtesy sign and trade" with Dampier.

last i heard atlanta was going to offer damp huge money. if they did end up signing him what do you guys think of this.

my post from another board.

now i've been hearing some rumblings of atlanta really wanting damp. they definatly have alot of money to throw at him, now my question is........if they did sign damp would you guys consider a sign and trade with the hawks. i was thinking we send them moochie (they could use a little back up pg help) and they sign joel pryzbilla to roughly the same contract as moochie and send him our way. the reasons i suggest pryz is because he is young, big and is a good rebounder and shot blocker. last year in games when he averaged over 25 minutes his line looked like this.

29 minutes 5 points 10 boards and 2 blocks . he's no damp, but he does play hard, he is cheap and he does what we need....board and block.

and i do know injuries are a concern, but hay they we a concern for big Z also.

dont forget, its just moochie.

i figure in this league you have "A" centres (shaq, ming, etc) wich we have no chance of getting. you have "B" centres (damp, Z, etc) which realistcally we wont get either. or you have "C" centres (haywood, gadzuric, pryz, etc) i think our chances of trading for, or signing a "C" centre and having our coaching staff turn him into a "B" centre are better than getting a "B" centre.

by all means, if we can get damp or Z do it. but if not why not try to get a young centre and try to develope him.
