From the Yahoo fantasy player notes

Raptors GM Masai Ujiri said that there will be no extension talks between the Raptors and DeMar DeRozan.
Advice: "There will be no extension talks with DeMar," said Ujiri. "He can only extend for a certain amount of money and I just foresee that DeMar sees himself- and we see him- as more than that type of a player. So I think DeMar is going to wait to see how it goes this year and do the best deal for himself, and we’ll do the best deal for ourselves, too." DeMar can make much more money as an unrestricted free agent than he could with an extension, so neither side will waste their time with extension talks. DeRozan's high-volume, low-make approach to shooting really weighs down his value, so we wouldn’t target him until the middle rounds on draft day.

It's all about the money. Nobody cares about winning. Sometimes you have to say goodbye to players if they are asking too much. Everyone talks about business but these teams aren't conducting good business practices. If your GM is saying the player can get more if he waits so we're not even going to talk to him, then he needs to be fired imho. It's about their team not making sure players get their money. This is the same team that maxed out Demarr Carroll. I just don't get it.
