FROM NYT:
The Knicks signed forward Darion Atkins and Wesley Saunders, who plays guard and forward.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Any idea who these guys are and if they have any game?

Moon--all 3 of these guys are pure D league developmental players. Im doubting any of them have a chance to make the Knicks. But it will make it fun to go watch the Westchester D league team.

Both guys were at the Portsmouth Invitational tournament, a tournament where you play if you have actually graduated from school.

Atkins stood out and made the all tournament team. Not sure if Saunders shined.

Neither stood out in SL.

As an aside, this was the tournament where Ndour and Galloway were spotted by Gaines.

Briggs is right...they will most likely be on our DL team, and are getting some guaranteed $$ from the Knicks which will, in essence, be a supplement for the meager $25,000 players now get from the DL.

The NBA really needs to give some kind of "ownership" rights to D League players. We need a system similar to MLB. Can really help make a better product, help give these kids some money. And it gives them a realistic choice over Europe and in time maybe the money can be similar if D League games become popular.

I'm looking forward to this evening.

These guys can be protected from the d league draft. The Knicks can protect up to 4 guys and send them to Westchester. They still are free agents in terms of the nba though. I agree it would be better if nba teams could have some kind of ownership over their d league players.

That is interesting, didn't know that. A step in the right direction. These guys clearly need work and I hope we get something like the right of first refusal with their agent, should they ever get an offer.
