Hey Guys.

I am a loooong time Knick die hard. I watched Monroe kick Clydes butt at the Garden when i was a kick when he was with the Bullits. Yes that is ancient history now. Yet, i stick with my team. I'm in Miami these days. What a town of Sports losers.

Our Knicks have bottomed out. We're now talkin about going from 17 wins to the playoffs. Just remember, ask yourselves one question for each transaction done. Does this guy fit a championship profile in the rotation ? Everything else is trimming and entertainment. So on our beloved Knick team today, who fits the bill? Who on this team can have us raise the banner?

Welcome Paris907!!! Always good to see a new member joining the convo.

It's hard to really say at this stage, when it comes to our young players like Kristaps and Jerian. They could actually be major playoff contributors for this team down the line. I'd rather focus on the process of rebuilding this team the right way. It's gonna take time and step one is just getting to the point where the team plays winning basketball. Title contention is so far away at this point. I'm hoping KP6 develops into a franchise player that we can build a contender around.

Good to have another Baby Boomer around.

Have to seem some actual game action with the entire crew before discussing which players fit a championship profile.

Big fan of the KP pick, loved the Grant deal, and was happy with most of our FA pickups.

Got to see what the team chemistry looks like and how Anthony's knee holds up before making any real predictions. Mostly hopeful, though.

Didn't we have Barnett guarding Monroe a lot at that time, too? Also seem to recall Clyde doing some damage against the Pearl. Glad we eventually ended up with him, though.

Good times, (would have been much better but for Reed's legs) but primarily a radio sport, for me. Too many siblings, only 1 TV, and some crazy rules which limited games from being on TV, if I remember correctly.

Much has changed.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

They actually got Mike Riordan to try to guard Monroe because Clyde just couldn't . They didn't call him "Black Jesus" for nothing Much has changed but defense still matters ans the teams that can play it are usually among the elite.

I think it was the 1971 playoffs and the Knicks were banged up and Earl was just unguardable! Was not just Clyde, nobody could stop him!
Bullets made the finals before losing to the Bucks. Alcinder and Oscar were just too much for anyone that year. Earl was playing for a contract and he could have jumped to the ABA. He had leverage and forced a trade. Knicks paid him in part because Knicks played Bulletts many times in a season and chances they'd run into him in the playoffs and it was the only guy who gave clyde fits.

1972 Earl had a bad knee.

I don't see this knick team as being any where near contending but we have a rookie that could define this franchise for a decade. its been a long time since we had a kid with this much potential.

Thank you Phil!!!

There's no way to foretell just how good KP6 will end up being but I like the early returns so far. Kid has legit potential but it's all on him to realize it. If he continues to put in the work, I see no reason he can't one day become a franchise level player. He's got a long way to go in terms of development but I like the talent. The ingredients are there in terms of elite size, length, agility and skills. As he develops over the next few years it should really be fun to watch.

The player I wanted was Millsap. Grit and can score and has heart. Forget Monroe. With KP and Grant and a Millsap the Knicks would still be a few players from contending but maybe just a "mike Conley" away.

Millsap is a very good player but he would've been very expensive and we already have KP as our PF of the future. I don't think Phil would've wanted to add a PF of that level who would hold KP back.

RoLo at C makes the team much more balanced and solid defensively. I like the idea of RoLo and KP in terms of length and rim protection.

As for Mike Conley I think we already have our version of Conley in Jerian Grant. People are overlooking this kid but he's the most well rounded guard in the draft IMO. As a PG he excelled in PnR, setting up his teammates and still was a lead scorer for his team. He's not great in any particular sense, but he's good in just about every area we need.
