The fact that we're without a draft pick this season compounds this, so those 2 guys are probably the players that are our only shot at fielding a competitive team this year.

Exactly. I agree--not worth the risk...I wonder if (better yet--to what extent) the Knicks tried talking these two outta going...Another thing to consider--it's time to win. Not a finished product, there's more building to do before we get to where we wanna go--but the objective is now to win as many games as possible from here on in. We've got our 1st rounder going to Toronto next summer--I'd hate to just hand over a premium pick to a division rival because we don't have our **** together. They're already arguably better than us and a top pick will make them that much more of a force to overcome in the Atlantic Division/Eastern Conference moving forward.
