Of the teams still looking at Seraphin, we are right there with our 2.8M exception. I don't seen any credible sources linking him to the Knicks, but the teams he has been linked to seem to have moved on. I think the sticking point is that he wants to start. Most teams already have that role filled. While is clearly a bench role player, he is another young kid with potential. He is undersized for the Center position at 6-10, but he has the wing span, athleticism, a developing post game and midrange shot and is a load at 278lbs to play C. He can also play forward. Forward seems to be the spot where we don't have a clear starter yet and considering he is a legitimate option to play backup minutes at C, he is a guy we are probably looking at, although under the radar. I doubt we would promise him a starters role, but no one is so maybe he is ready to accept his role on a developing Knicks team where he would see more minutes then on the Wizards.

I didn't know he was not a smart player. I just assumed he was OK BB IQ wise. From the brief moments i've seen him he seems to have good skills, but I can't say that i've focused on him. He may still be a decent option even if he's not the highest BB IQ guy. Sometimes just having the brute force and size off the bench is better than nothing. That said he may not be high on Phil's list given he really wants players that can fully grasp the offense and think the game.

are you sure, i never really paid to much attn to him when he played against us, he just looked like a banger. Also, phil is only looking for high energy, high IQ players, so why would he be on the radar

Sheridan's site linked the Knicks to Seraphin and Boozer today. It is according to 'league sources'.

DW signed for high upside potential. Also for multi-position player and scorer.

Also people are really underestimating Phil's vision for how certain players can fit into the style of play. DWill can be successful without possessing the ball for any significant amount of time. He's a catch and shoot or catch and finish player and he's really great at scoring around the basket even without much space. Phil wants penetration not just from guards but bigs as well and DWill can do that. In a motion offense you want attacking bigs. All those cuts in this offense can be finishes when you have a player who is powerful and athletic enough to get to the hole with regularity.

Just watch how he lurks around the basket, runs, slashes and finishes. No plays! Just moving without the ball! That's actually more important than people realize. We lacked that kind of easy scoring. He also shows the ability to hit the corner 3. With a bit more definition to his role he could really be good in this offense.

Looking at that list I think the knicks should just hold onto the 2.8 and see who ends up on the waiver wire.

No... people are looking at Derrick Williams for what he is... a dismal failure as top 5 pick. Seriously can you talk hoops without using highlight videos? DW has been terrible. Allergic to defense and rebounding, and gets his on offense. He has been a very bad NBA player.

However

He can score. And the one thing I will give Phil credit for is DW is in a position to succeed here. If he can give Allan Houston type efforts on defense and the boards he will be OK, because he's a good offensive player and this roster lacks guys who can go get you buckets. We are asking him bring the thing he's best at.. so I like that.. lets see what you got. Go prove Karl wrong. Go earn yourself big bucks. Fingers crossed... Im not terribly optimistic about the DW signing. My guess is its a flop. He's no Al Harrington which would be great. He's Rodney White (sorry Briggs )

I like Reggie Evans and Dre Miller. Both would be good guys to get in the mix here. Lou becomes our Reggie. Not dirty but physical for sure. I think Dre Miller actually helps us win games and start the season well and would certainly take him over Lance Thomas. Hopefully Grant and Galloway eventually outplay and take Miller's minutes but he will play mistake free ball and force the young guys to do the same and or lose minutes to the old man. Exactly the kind of discipline you want your young guys focused on.

I guess that's what Jose is for, and to shoot... I hope the staff really likes Lance. Have to figure he gets outplayed by one of these guys in camp. It will be interesting to see if there is some politics there

I use the videos to back up my main points. I see nothing wrong with that. You don't have to look at it if you feel you already know what i'm talking about. I do for those who might not have a clear idea of what i'm talking about. I'm not posting only for your entertainment you know.

The particular part of DWill's game that Phil is looking to utilize is what he actually does best but that might make him less effective in other systems. Phil thinks about those things which most fans do not. The same way he had a hunch about Shved when most fans couldn't see why he would pick him up. DWill is great at moving without the ball and attacking the basket which is something we need, since this is a ball and player motion offense. We don't need guys holding the ball too long. DWill literally doesn't possess the ball for much time at all, also a very good thing in this offense. He should have a more defined role doing what he's good at doing already. Hopefully he can also do the other things like Defend and Rebound.

“They want me to play a little bit of everything — come off pick and rolls, set picks, pick and pop, stretch the floor,’’ Williams said. “Phil already told me he really wants me to be everywhere on the court. Not just in the corner or elbow — being able to do multiple things at one time, doing a little bit of everything.’’
Perhaps Williams impressed Jackson and Fisher with his triangle know-how. Williams said he already knows “eight cuts’’ from watching the Lakers in his boyhood.
