I liked him until he went so over the top with being the anti - talk show host/parodying alot of talk show stereotypes. Some of his societal/sports parallels were interesting but he started heavily generalizing audiences of certain sports. What started to get me was when he started passing off his commentaries as fact instead of just his opinion.

ESPN is so ridiculous...they "fired" him after he already agreed to a new contract with fox. His last day with ESPN was scheduled to be next Friday anyways. Gotta love the ESPN spin cycle

Unfortunately for Colin, I don't think there's an HBO deal on the Horizon. Personally, I don't think it's that big a loss. I always confused Skip Bayless and him anyway.

He got a deal with Fox reportedly. Basically his comments were statistically based on DM education system and saying baseball is not a hard sport. Comes out wrong but really, it was not racist.

“It’s too complex? I’ve never bought into that ‘baseball is too complex.’ Really? A third of the sport is from the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic has not been known in my lifetime as having world-class academic abilities. A lot of those kids come from rough backgrounds and have not had opportunities academically that other kids from other countries have. Baseball is like any sport. It’s mostly instincts. A sportswriter who covers baseball could go up to Tony La Russa and make an argument and Tony would listen and it would seem reasonable. There’s not a single NFL writer in the country who could diagram a play for Bill Belichick. You know, we get caught up in this whole ‘thinking man’s game.’ Is it in the same family? Most people could do it. It’s not being a concert pianist. It’s in the same family.”

Cowherd did back off his comments following the commercial break, saying that only 4 percent of MLB players have college degrees and that roughly a third of the players don't speak the primary language of the country in which they play.

MLB announced in April that 83 Dominican-born players were on opening day rosters, disabled lists or restricted lists this year. They represented 9.6 percent of major league players. A total of 230 foreign-born players, or 26.5 percent, were in the majors.)

He's been around long enough to know how to think before he speaks.

I don't listen to him on the radio like I listen to others on 98.7- usually like the shows with multiple hosts- I need the banter.

Wonder how the hosts on their AM station, which is broadcast in Spanish, reacted to his comments?

i always enjoyed colin because he was different and "intellectual". but i thought of him as more ELITIST than racist. he came off and conceited and made big generalizations about lower class folks. sometimes it blended in with racism based on the topic but i always thought he was more of ELITIST
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I think you have to kind of straddle some lines that can be to offensive some people to do comedy..I don't think Colin's intention was to insult players or people from the DR..He make a mistake tryin to illustrate another point in a comedic manner..I wish we had the capacity in today's world to let some of these mistakes slip past us..No need to play got ya with a dude's career to make a point..

Yeah he was pretty damn ****y but he could still be very objective and thorough. He definitely rubbed a lot of people the wrong way though.

Yes it was.

Talking on his national radio show, which is simulcast on ESPNU, Cowherd was making a point about whether a general manager had the capability of stepping down from the executive office and adeptly handling managerial duties, as the Miami Marlins' Dan Jennings has been asked to do this season.

"It's baseball," Cowherd said. "You don't think a general manager can manage? Like it's impossible? The game is too complex? I've never bought into that, 'Baseball's just too complex.' Really? A third of the sport is from the Dominican Republic."

These are his comments..The guy made a mistake..You should try to judge from intent..He obviously didn't get his comments right the first time...He shouldn't be crucified for that..

Some of things ESPN guys say I don't agree with
but some of same guys saying things I do agree with , even Cowherd.

Problem with Colin he tries hard to be "RIGHT" with his views, and you can go to far
as the case with Collin. Perhaps he needed to do 'about face' when criticism came in initially on DR remarks
Collin NEVER about faces , in his talks or attidudes.

Don't make him a bad guy , however everyone over ESPN ain't perfect there !

I usually call the ESPN station often/days at times, talked with Ruocco, Kay, LaGreca, Hahn, Rotheberg ..even Mr. Lupica, SAS
and also on Twitter

No problems

Never get through with Colin on his show.

However you gotta watch it! on live radio especially ESPN

This aint' rocket science and ESPN has personalities getting some trouble
In & out off and on so this won't be first time.

Good Luck to Colin, he is good at sports but hopefully he learned something on his
DR remarks and sometimes there are things and subjects you don't need to talk about on live air!
That aint always the case with Colin whom ..chooses things to bring up that no one else does around
country sports media journalist.

Oh man this sucks. I love listening to him. Smart guy and refreshing approach to radio with his superb analogies and humor. I'm going to try to follow him wherever he goes.

Wasn't listening yesterday so I have no idea what he said that got him canned. I will look into it later

Nobody allowed to speak the truth or his mind in the media if this sounds not politically correct.
No one should be offended or questioned based on golden taboos or race, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, religion, income, profession, mental ability, disability, size of the balls, and length of the penis. Any public person cut in this must be fired, humiliated, disgraced, and banned for life. He/She/It and his/her/it family should suffer to make a public example for everybody.

i was driving home from vacation on thursday night and i caught an espn show while driving near philadelphia. an "on-air personality" named boumani jones (?) was hosting a show and started in on cowherd. i was not really aware of the cowherd story but it sounded to me like this guy jones was trying to stir up controversy for no other reason than to become famous. dude sounded like a desperate blowhard.

i have a feeling that he is representative of this modern culture we live in, everyone screaming for attention and trying to bring somebody in a higher position on the totem pole down.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
