Hassan Whiteside - C - Heat

According to ESPN projections, Hassan Whiteside could make around $18.5 million annually after he finishes out the last year of his deal with the Heat which is worth $981,000.
What a difference a year can make. The Heat struck gold when they signed Whiteside out of the D-League last season, and it was arguably one of the most exciting storylines of the 2014-15 season. The Heat will have to be creative with their cap space next summer in order to keep Whiteside, especially with Dwyane Wade set to test the market again as a free agent, but the dramatic rise of the salary cap should help. Whiteside posted averages of 13.7 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game on 61.2 percent shooting as a starter last season, and there is no reason why he can't continue to improve.

The reason I wanted to acquire as much talents as possible this year, is to make a run at Hassan Whiteside
In my ideal world, if we can lure Whiteside next summer and acquire Westbrook the following summer, we would be contenders 3 seasons from now with the development of KP

Within these couple of seasons, we do not know if CA will be part of this roster or not
We need ALL STAR talents in order to contend while KP will develop in to one

We should develop a strong relationship like we did with Greg Monroe's agent this season as we monitor Whiteside development with Bosh and other talents playing this season
I have no problem with trading Robin Lopez if we can, especially if we can get assets back for him

Whiteside has to stay on the court and not get injured. This guy bounced around for 5 years until he figured it out, so its not like teams were negligent over the years passing him over.
He could make that kind of money if he puts a full season together and then a team has to take the chance he can stay at that level.

This guy coming out of college had this postential and Briggs was a big fan of his. Maturity, body issues, diet, etc all had to come together for him. Good story, but not one without risks especially if you bet the ranch on.

NO RISK/NO REWARD

The Heat had a lot of injuries last season and that is why I am saying we have to closely monitor him and develop a strong relationship with his agent
The advantage that we have is that NO TEAM owns his FULL BIRD RIGHTS and could not offer a 5year deal, so every team could offer him a 4year deal at best, with likely a player option for 4th year

The 2 hardest positions to develop for young guys, especially talents that come out early are PG and Center
While there are not many LEGIT YOUNG PF and Centers with a LEGIT POST GAME anymore, Whiteside took time to mature with his body, and fully develop his skills with his physical abilities
New York is a great fit for him because of The Triangle, KP, and The Endorsements we can offer here in New York to promote his "branding"
KP is a PF with great length/mobility/athleticism, with a LEGIT 3pt shot to allow Whiteside to dominate down low, however, it would give us 2 shot blockers/rebounders that are LEGIT 7footers with great athleticism and mobility to compliment each other

It is a great fit for each other with KP (his ability to spread the floor on OFF and DEFEND/REBOUND together on DEF) and Whiteside
It is a great fit for Whiteside and The Triangle, as the OFFENSE will be run through him, and KP could play the HIGH LOW with him, with KP passing over his man easily, and provide much room for Whiteside to operate

Off the court,
It is a great fit for Whiteside's endorsements and ability to draw attention in New York to make money

We can easily offer him a MAX salary next summer and if we can move CA for assets, we could better spend his money moving forward and CA is aging but could still provide much scoring for a team that is actually contending like Houston
Denver and Toronto could be teams that help us GETS WORSE, as they benefit because they own our draft pick next summer
CA could also draw interest to play in Cleveland with Lebron James, while Kevin Love could be sent to 3rd team like The Lakers, as we do not want any salaries, and want draft picks/youth, another team could be Chicago Bulls
However, Houston would make the most sense for CA with the trade kicker and NO STATES TAX, as CA would earn the most money there and get wide open shots with the DEFENSE focused on stopping Harden, leading to wide open shots for CA

Robin Lopez's contract is "fair" with the cap rising and if he plays well, we may also get draft picks for him, possibly to Chicago with Noah is a UFA and Gasol having a player option
I would not be surprised if we acquired Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant next summer, in addition to Whiteside, if we were able to move CA and Lopez
Reuniting Phil Jackson/Fisher with Gasol/Kobe and The Triangle

Maybe a 2-3year deal at 8-10m, whether it is a trade for Lopez/Gasol or Noah, or just signing him out right, possibly dealing Lopez to another team
Though I think Noah would fit in The Triangle, I think Gasol's experience in The Triangle would help develop KP much more, and KP is also a fan of Kobe Bryant

Though Gasol is older, he lead the entire league in double double last season and his experience/leadership in the Triangle, we may sign him to a cap friendly deal that is lower than Robin Lopez contract on a multiyear deal, while Kobe Bryant would need a significant pay cut, possibly vet min, for his experience in The Triangle, with a possible HIGH PAYING JOB as a future development/assistant coach
Especially if we trade CA, we could use Bryant to fill the seats here at the MSG, even if it is just a 1year deal, while we target Russell Westbrook, two summers from now when he is a UFA, to play a role similar to Kobe Bryant and Jordan

These are LEGIT moves that would make us contenders as Lebron will decline greatly 2years from now, at least somewhere down the line of his MAX contract, while if we were able to make these moves we would be favorites in the East, though Adam Silver is possibly looking to lets the TOP 16 teams advance to play offs, vs just East/West...
Not sure if Silver is planning to make the TOP 16 teams compete vs each other or the TOP 8 teams in each conference with no division champs, with the way things played out with Spurs/Clippers meeting in the 1st round this past play offs

ive read that much of the reason whiteside didn't stick anywhere was because of his attitude. judging by last year (getting thrown out of games), he still has those issues - might be pretty risky to offer him that kind of money if he still has such personality issues.

Whiteside

is a 20/20 threat, with 3-4 blocks, 1-2 steals per game, with over 50% FG, and over 70% FT with high attempts as well

There simply are NOT many post players in todays game, as the league has changed after Dantoni's philosophy changed the NBA
Someone WILL EASILY pay him that amount of money for his production, especially if he continues to show this year that he is capable of doing so with depth of The Heat returning and their new acquisitions

He can step out of the paint, unlike MOST Centers, and could initiate a FAST break with his ability to rebound and FINISH it through contract with his mobility/speed for a Center
If we were willing to pay a MAX for DeANdre Jordan, we certainly would be willing to pay Whiteside's ability to defend/block shots, hit FT shots with high %, and his ability to score 20-30pts a game

Certainly would sign Andrew Bynum as a development coach to help teach him how to dominate within the system, along with Rasheed Wallace/Robert Horry to mentor KP
Then the following summer, Westbrook would be the UFA to finish out our roster

We all know how THE TRIANGLE success it has 2-3 ALL STARS with versatile talents
That would be a LEGIT team Phil Jackson would have coached with the talent assembled

Westbrook
KP
WHiteside

And whether Grant, Thanasis, or whoever, could play with that lineup and dominate

We also could use our future 1st rounders in trades
Would also like to trade with Twovles using Calderon's expiring and a future 1st rounder unprotected for

Shabazz Muhammad (is a RFA the same summer that Westbrook will be a UFA, so we can extend him after we sign Westbrook, if we traded for him and he is on our roster, similar to what Spurs did with Kawaii Leanard)
Possibly Nemanja Bjelica and Kevin Martin

Some other players I could see fitting in are, especially if we were able to trade CA and his salary along with Robin Lopez's contract

UFA's next summer
===================

Pau Gasol/Noah - with Gasol mentoring KP in the Triangle
David Lee - playing a role similar to Lamar Odom at point/forward

Battum - has great size/versatility to defend PG, SG, SF, and some PF, and play both on and off the ball

Possibly Kobe on a 1year deal

On lower deals that we could possibly trade for this year or sign next summer to cap friendly deals,

James Johnson/Troy Daniels both of which are expirings this year, and could be kept on cap friendly deals moving forward
Randy Foye/DJ Augstine

Jeff Taylor

Expirings for 2016/2017 season, For the 2017/18 season
================================================================

Mike Muscula (final year of contract same as Westbrook and Shabazz Muhammad)
With Westbrook, I could see Nate Walters playing a role similar to Steve Kerr and would also sign Jeff Taylor to a 2year vet min deal, next summer

Spencer Dinwiddie

The worry is he has a long history of being a headcase and short history of keeping his ego in check. I'd be petrified to offer the guy big money.

Whiteside? Ultimate Jerome James type of signing. Maybe if he puts up numbers this year.

Westbrook to me is the ultimate perfect fit next to Melo. Perfect attitude. Still young. I would have traded the 4 for him. I would be hesitant to trade KP for him now but anyone else on the roster - including Melo would be fair game.

we have a lot of big guys already we need to find an elite type g. I don't care what system etc you play you need a breakdown player who has the ability to take over spots of games if we don't find someone like this it will be tough to win big

Whiteside would be a great addition, but Riley is too good, he will never coach and develop a young dude to let him walk. Miami has no tax folks and has wonderful weather with gorgeous women; just keep that in mind
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)
