whats a good REALISTIC comparison for Jerian Grant? no not mudiay, westbrook, jrue holiday or CP3. i think dude will be around for a decade based on his smarts and defense. i think hes a winner who can be a nice role player for a good team. i dont think he'll ever be a star or #2 or #3 option...just a steady role player

off the top of my head - Antonio Daniels (back up PG on those spurs teams)

thoughts?

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Grant will be a Mike Conley, you dont plan vs him, but if you dont play your absolute hardest, he will take you to school

Why not Jrue Holiday? I could see Jrue or Teague being his ceiling - his game has a lot of flashes of both to me.

I could somewhat see Antonio Daniels - but he's from almost a different era compared to how rules favor the PG now, so it's hard to compare style of play. And remember Daniels went 4th overall in the draft - I always thought of him as somewhat of a disappointment because of that. He was a solid player. I think that's a decent baseline for him.

I think realistically, he'll wind up somewhere on the scale between McDaniels and Jrue/Teague. Hopefully closer to a Teague/Jrue type, but I'm content to watch it play out.

I was going to say this. I'm not sure I'd say more athletic tho. Derek was pretty quick when he was young.

General Grant is like a combination of Greg Anthony and Mark Jackson.

Jerian is in a sort of middle area with guys like Conley but a little better because of his aggressiveness and ability to get into the teeth of the defense. Jerian has a solid all around game. He can basically do everything you want a PG to do. He can push the pace but also stay under control. He'll be a legit threat at all times because he can shoot and run PnR at a high level. Jerian is somewhat unique among guards today and much closer to old school guards like Derek Harper.

Lets get the kid in a uniform and some games under his belt.

Doc Rivers.

Sure, why not on Harden - I'm not sure what makes Harden great - not sure if folks really would have predicted he'd be this awesome offensively. He's got some serious self confidence... And no conscience.

I have mentioned this in a couple of other threads, but Jrue Holiday is the ideal comp to me.

I've mentioned Mo Cheeks as someone he reminds me of -- Mo was very underrated coming out of college and he was understated/underrated as a player as well.

Grant reminds me of Mo physically but I also like that his on-court personality though tough is under-stated / calm. Outside of defense and making layups (rarely missed one) Mo wasn't great at any one thing but he was a great player.

If Grant to have a career anywhere close to Cheeks --- we'd all be happy campers.

If you've watched the kid play then you should be able to perceive something about his talent level. Nothing that has been said is that far off base. Jerian is competitive with any of the other top PG's in this draft. They just give the other top guys the "upside" tag. Compared to Mudiay and Russell, Jerian is the most complete player and of course he's older and more mature. He's not as ball dominant but that is actually a good thing. Jerian is the most balanced of the top PG's. He won't be compared to Steph Curry or John Wall but he has the right mix of talent and skills.

I think his well-rounded game and being very solid in all aspects ensures he will not be a bust. He has a high floor and should at least be a very solid 6th man or fringe starter. But at the same time, he lacks elite talent in any particular area or areas to be a superstar, but still could end up being a potential all-star and very good starting PG if all goes well.
