Wow..I guess it's a business..

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13300681/nba-offer-single-game-pay-per-view-telecasts-699

NBA fans who want to watch out-of-market games that are not on national television can now do so by the game.

The league will announce Wednesday that, for the first time, fans can pay $6.99 to buy any NBA game next season. Fans will be able to watch the game on television if they have a carrier that gets NBA League Pass -- DirecTV, Dish, AT&T, Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner and Cox, among them -- or on broadband for computers, tablets and mobile devices.

In the past, fans could only buy all out-of-market games for the season, but this year, the league is also offering a team package, where a fan who lives out of the primary market can get all the team's games for $119.99.

The price for the full League Pass -- which has been available since 1994 -- will remain $199.99, but even NBA commissioner Adam Silver admitted in March at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference that "most people don't want to consume that many games."

There are no immediate plans to sell pieces of games, like allow a fan to buy the last couple minutes of a game by clicking on a link within their Twitter or Facebook timeline, but that could be something the league will look at in the future.

The pricing announced is for U.S. fans only. League Pass is available in more than 200 countries, according to the NBA.

If they made the option to buy League pass for $119.99 for one team and you could do it "In Market" aka if you live in New York, you could do it for the Knicks, I would do it in a heart beat.

I think the league is realizing a lot of people of a certain age don't buy cable the way they used to. A lot of people use their computer or Xbox or Roku or whatever as their cable box. Glad they are at least exploring different options.

They have that...Does it not apply for in market teams?

Yeah, it doesn't work if you are in the cable zone for the home team. So if you live in the greater NY area and have the option of buying MSG cable, you cannot buy Knicks only league pass. And if you buy full league pass, Knicks games will still be blacked out and you have to watch on MSG. that's my understanding, at least.

Yeah. I live outside of Rochester and would not be allowed to get the Knicks with league pass. I recommend ballstreams. I think you can try it for a day or week for not much money. There is a lot of info on ballstreams if you are interested in it.

I think there are alot of people like me who only have cable for in market sports games. If I could get it somewhere else, my cable subscription would be gone tomorrow.

I have 4 TV's in my house and this is where it starts to add up because of cable boxes and DVR.

My internet and cable after swithcing to fiber optic company (right up to my house!) is $120 which is a great deal. Epix and sports additions.
I have TWC and ATT Uverse offered but now have this. My interenet speed is up to 1GB persecond. I tested it and its legit. Internet alone would be $80 a month so when bundled it good.
I have a new Mac mini which is nice but its limited by the software and if I only had one TV it would be great. Apple TV has a new service coming in the fall for $40 but would need each tv to have an apple box on it.
Im back at $120 if I do this. My current provider does not have NBA channell currently.

But, this is per team price is a very good thing!!! Last year I did not buy the Pass as I can't watch every knick game, nor really desire to.

IN fact I'd be happy with 41 games. There are enoughy national games to fill in the rest. At $6.99 thats not bad. At $119 it equates to $1.45 per game. 12 games at $6.99 is the break even.

Whole industry needs to rethink itself. THings like HBO to go, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Apple, and netflix are changing the landscape. I read ESPN subscription is down for the first time like Ever!!! If you have only one TV viewer they are unplugging and thats going to be a problem for networks. Its fragmenting the media and delivery of news. This is a also a problem as the media, expecially Newspapers have held important positions as being the local voice of the people and keepoing government straight.

Woodward and Bernstein broke Watergate. It wasn't that they just broke a story, they unconvered a conspiracy and took down a corrupt president! The Washington post paid them. Newspapers are disappearing.

ballstreams is ok... i just wish games were telecast in 1080p and ballstreams was able to show that.
for example for the comcast customers in atlanta, you get games on 471-482 and 882 for nba tv in hd.
471-482 is in SD.

so even if you do get league pass... you still are watching games in SD...? what a ripoff.

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

Yeah, I had purchased it after I started my current job that requires a lot of travel. One trip I was in State College, PA. If you've never been there it's about halfway through Pennsylvania, about 4 hours from NYC. Tried to watch a game and it was blacked out because it was considered to be in NY's territory.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I would think that usually the most desirable games are shown on ESPN, ABC, or TNT anyway so I'm not sure what the appeal of this option is. Local fans can already watch all the games of their team and non-local fans that would care enough to pay $7 to watch a game would probably buy a package that lets them watch every one of that team's games for this season.

ballstreams is in 720 p. I have had games on national tv and ballstreams and flipped back and forth and could not tell the difference.

720p is more than find even for a big screen. I still use plasmas, my basement is a 6 year old 720p panasonic 50 inch and anything I throw up on it looks great.

I suppose I could use ballstreams via my Mac mini and throw it up on my 58' plasma and as long as its true 720p it should be fine.
Picture for sports is about the refresh rate and plasmas for the money still can't be beat. My LCD's are 120 refresh rate and they ok, but not like the older plasma!

I have two plasmas also. If I watch wireless through a Roku 1 there is a difference. On my other tv I use a wired Roku 3 and there is no difference. Also, you can log in anywhere. I have watched games on my phone. I showed friends at work part of a game on demand on a smart board. You can watch a game on your tv and watch a second game at the same time on another device. I think it is awesome. You also can choose the broadcast feed you want.

this is a business overreach that is doomed for failure. the product is much thinner and even the stupidest nba follower is not going to fork over dough for regular-season slop.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
