I understand that the OFFENSE is run generally though the POST in the Triangle

However, we do not have a great LOW post scorer that can also facilitate

A lot of it will come down to fully executing the system with precise timing, passing, cuts, floor spacing, etc, as we do not have a dominant force or an extremely versatile athlete like

Pau Gasol

Odom

Ariza

Kobe

with the 4 above, ANY ONE person can come in while the above has many highly skilled/versatile talents that could play both inside and out, exposing the match up and who was feeling hot that game

That is why having multiple threats that could penetrate and finish, with the ability to create their own shot, for the team, and facilitate at the same time is very important
Speed/quickness/handle changes that, a reason why Lin's ability to penetrate/facilitate was effective
And that was the difference last year when Shved played well for us, he was playing SG/PG, with Galloway/Larkin at the point
While Larkin's ability to penetrate/facilitate was better used in a PnR OFFENSE, Fisher tweaked the Offense a bit with our lack of POST talents to score and facilitate efficiently

Currently we only have a "rook" in Grant, that has the ability to consistently penetrate/finish and facilitate

While both Calderon and Galloway are not very good at penetrating, they are solid 2ndary or 3rd ball handlers that could shoot/space the floor
IMO, we should sign 1-2 players that could take the pressure away from Calderon/Galloway
We should try to replace Shved right away with one of our roster spots
Jeff Taylor is a UFA that we should consider signing, 2year vet min deal, with unguaranteed 2nd year

Jeff Taylor is a bit under the radar and is still young, who didn't get much PT outside of his rookie year and had domestic abuse charges against him
I have always liked him and he didn't get much PT with Kemba Walker, PJ Hairson, Brian Roberts, and Lance playing ahead of him last season, in addition to the legal issues
Troy Daniels is another solid player that could shoot, penetrate that they have, think he is in the final year of his contract
Bobcats also added Lin, Aaron Harrison, and Battum can play point/forward *who will be an expiring*

He could play SG but he has good quickness/speed, athleticism, and the ability to create, finish, and facilitate, similar to Lance Stephenson
And he can defend the PG and some SF's as well, similar to Jarret Jack when he was younger..
I thought we were going to resign Shved, however, we didn't offer him more than the vet min, while more money was offered to Lance Thomas and Lou Amundson

With Daniel Hackett invited from Europe, I thought he was going to sign with us as a backup plan, and play in the Summer League
Hackett has the skills/size to play the PG and SG, at 6-6, 215pds, he could also POST UP, penetrate/facilitate, hit the wide open 3pter, and defend well for both PG and SG
He is also good friends with Derozan and even better friends with Gallanari, playing for Italy...

Justin Hamilton - we currently only have 1 LEGIT Center in Robin Lopez, Hamilton would be a typical BIG that would play for Phil Jackson's Chicago Bulls team
He can hit the mid range shot, hit wide open 3pters, rebound, and defends, as a role player with HIGH IQ
We can likely sign him for a 2year vet min deal, with 2nd year being non guaranteed

Not sure if Larry Sanders would sign a vet min deal with us, however, he is getting paid by The Bucks and is playing for The Drew League so he has interest in basketball again, as was going through depression before he was released

He was once the leading shot blocker in the NBA for one season that earned him a big contract

Andray Blatche is probably the BIGGEST PF/C that could score in the deep post and hit the midrange shot available, he would likely demand the 2.8m room exemption, he makes 3m playing in China but may take less in order to gain interest again with the rise of the cap next season

He could flourish in the Triangle as we currently lack BIG BODIES and waiting for KP to get stronger, while he is the 2nd BIGGEST player on our roster but wouldn't want him to hurt himself vs Centers in the League this year...
Not sure if he would consider coming to New York at a discount to stick it in to Bklyn, especially with the way The Nets seem to love picking up our pieces after like

Shawnee Williams
Jerome Jordan
Larkin

I'm pretty sure the Phil is taking a look at all their options to try and add another guard who can score inside and out. I don't believe he's feeling any particular pressure to do so. Phil has a lot of patience and will probably take his time with the final spots on the roster. We will see what players are invited to Training Camp.

Jerrelle Benimon SF, SF/PF, stretch 4/5, maybe a Lamor Odom type player as a triple double threat

To help facilitate, playing point/forward

I do think that we should keep Ndour FIRST, guarantee him a spot, however, because we want to stay under the cap to make possible waiver/amnesty claims, we can not sign anyone
N dour has too much physical talent to pass up with his athleticism, size, length, quickness/mobility, ability to POST UP/MID RANGE SHOT, and Rebound/RUN for a a SF/PF and finish in an uptempo system
He plays with a high motor and even listed at 200pds, but doesn't look weak at all, but if that really is his weight, with his performance in the Summer League, he has a lot of room to improve if that is in fact his weight

N dour could be like a Shawn Marion, DeMarre Carroll, Junkyard Dog/Balkman *their physical abilities but much more skilled already and can continue to improve like DeMaRRe Carroll has improved the past 2 seasons in the right system/players around him...

IMO,
He can do things that can not be taught already with his physical abilities and his first alley hoop I knew he was ready for the NBA
That one play displayed his physical abilities, length, hand eye coordination, and with his size/mobility/length/athleticism, he could play DEFENSE and run up and down the court for transition points
His STATS were amazing as a 4year college player that didn't catch the attention of any scouts/GM's, and I believe if we do not sign this GEM to develop, we will watch him develop elsewhere and we will regret it
He is already more advanced than Cleanthony Early, who has struggled in the NBA as a tweener, lacking a handle, with the speed/quickness to defend the SG position
Early can not create his own shot but if not contested he can shoot and effort is there on defense, he just has a lot of work ahead of him
IMO, he is a perfect example of how college players may not translate in the NBA, as he was a SF and SF/PF that could shoot in college but struggles in the NBA
N Dour is already ahead of him, physically and skill wise, Early only has "experience in the Triangle" over him but N Dour's potential is much higher
I think N Dour's weight isn't really 200pds but wasn't updated or an error

Which was why I do not know why we we in such a rush to sign Lance Thomas and especially Lou Amundson, we could promise him a roster spot without officially signing him

Then there are other PG's, like Bynum, Phil Pressy *basically a confident Larkin* and D league talents

D League combo guards
=======================

Seth Curry *really worked on his handle already, still not a good perpetrator but he can shoot*
Jared Cunningham
Bryce Cotton
Scotty Hopson

Vander Blue

With D League PG's
========================

Tim Frazier
Larry Drew II
David Stockton
Aaron Craft

Then there was Dantoni's final project at PG which hurt his knee last year early at the start of the season

Thought this was a thread about Kobe. Then I realized you meant team offense, not sex offense.

I think we should add some Guards that could penetrate, hit the 3pter, and have SPEED/QUICKNESS
Both of these players are 26years of age and would fully utilize the screens set by Robin Lopez, with the ability to penetrate to the basket and draw doublet teams, and capable of hitting the 3pt shot
If we were interested in John Jenkins and brought in Elliot Williams for a work out, I believe these players would be similar
I like Elliot Williams with a couple other D League talents at SG, he is listed at 6-4, 180pds, but seems much athletic, stronger, and bigger than that in the videos though
IMO, we should sign players that we can lock up for CHEAP for multiyear deals and are NOT too OLD but NOT too YOUNG where they have to develop their bodies and skills, with the ability to contribute now
However, we want leverage on them in order to get them cheap on multiyear deal before the cap goes up next year, with team options and NOT player options
The Triangle takes time to learn and execute and it looks like Phil Jackson and Fisher are totally dedicated in executing the system first, believing it will help develop the skills of all our players and then be able to attract better FA's in a couple of years.....

Jeff Taylor is a UFA and hasn't gone much PT since his rookie season, 3years ago, and turned down an offer for a 2year deal to Europe at about 800k per year
He could be likely signed for a 2year vet min deal, probably even unguaranteed for 2nd year
Jeff Taylor could play SG/SF, but more of a SG that could penetrate, similar to what Lance Stephenson does but with a better shot
He could play solid DEFENSE at PG and SG and compliment both Galloway and Calderon, while Grant is the only other Guard that could defend both PG/SG and penetrate and finish, facilitate/create, and compliment our roster
Lets remember, the better we get Calderon to play and the closer he comes closer to an expiring, the higher chance we have in trading him and building up his "value"

Troy Daniels played for Houston and is like a smaller YOUNG Mo Williams and a role similar to Patty Mills with a very good 3pt shot and quickness to penetrate, while staying in front of his man on DEFENSE
He isn't the BIG PG that Phil Jackson tends to like, however, like Fisher, he can shoot
While smaller, that could also be an advantage because when he runs the PnR with Lopez, he could fit through the small cracks without the defender being able to catch up to him

Houston has done a great job in developing shooters, Troy Daniels was buried behind the bench with Beverely, Isiah Cannon, and was traded to Twolves last year
Troy Daniels is in the final year of his contract but he could be available with the addition of Lin on Bobcats roster
If he can be traded for Early, I would certainly do it, also see if Portland has interest in Early for Dorrell Wright in a sign and trade, about a 3year 5m deal

In the mean time, I would target Dorrell Wright who played with Affalo last year to a 2year vet min deal
Especially asking Affalo on his input of what he thinks of Wright's character and how he is in practice
I think he would help our shooting as he has been a sharp shooter for his entire career and is still available, probably one of the better players right now available at SG/SF

We missed Powell at pick 35 which wouldve helped not only with penetration but wouldve given us the perimeter upgrade on defense we just did not get at the 2 G. I do not think we have a viable back up 2G.

This is the only part of the free agency period that I was not happy with. Everything else was great. We really needed Lin or Shved in the lineup. A penetrating guard can really help you the team a lot.

Isn't Troy Daniels signed with Charlotte?
