As part of a larger trade to get Ty Lawson maybe?Reading the Spurs just worked out Elliot Williams -- not sure what Phil's waiting for here. We worked him out first. I would've inked him up right after that workout...We definitely need another guard. Williams' is a good choice--enough size and skill for both spots (plus size at the point), athletic, still relatively young yet he's been around, healthy now and he really excelled in the DL last yr, he can score, handle, pass it and play uptempo..Who else out there is a more viable option for us right now? Wouldn't have to trade anyone to bring in Williams..You wanna laugh--I think Elliot Williams could be something close to D'angelo Russell. More athletic than Russell with similar size/skill/game. I'd love to give this dude a shot.
I want Elliot Williams too but maybe he would rather look and see what the best franchise in the league is doing before he makes a decision.
No problem with Williams keeping his options open--as long as we made an offer, which I'm not convinced we did..I think it's clear they're looking at a combo guard for one of the last spots. After passing on Shved and losing out on Hackett, Elliot Williams is a good choice. I like him better than Pressey and I don't see DEN moving Erick Green, who I'm sure they look at as a solid building block who could backup/play alongside Mudiay (if anything, Ty Lawson is the one guard they have that may be available for a discount, if we decide that adding his salary is the right thing--I think we should go for it and make an offer for Lawson)... I wouldn't really care if EW had a good workout for us or not--we already know what he can do. He fits what they're looking for like a glove (would supply quality depth at both positions, could ever surpass Ledo for the primary backup SG spot behind Afflalo), blew up the DL this past yr and he shouldn't cost more than the minimum (and if it took a little more than his minimum, I might even consider offering him a portion of the room exception, esp. if there's competition with SA). He's a real good talent who still has good upside. I actually think he compares favorably to D'angelo Russell...I wouldn't hem and haw too long over this guy--just hope we made the man an offer or will soon. If you snooze, you lose..
