I don't think this team added needed team speed and athletic ability. When I look at our projected starting line up and into our back ups I think we maybe 30 th in the league in this area. I think we had a great chance to atleast bring in atleast one elite athlete with 30mm and 3 draft picks and we didn't

IMO we have enough athletic ability for how this team plays. Who were you thinking of in particular that we missed out on? DeAndre?

With Calderon Anthony Lopez affalo we don't have team speed or athletism

You are already slating Calderon into the starting spot? It may not work out like that. In terms of team speed I would agree that we could use a little more but the athletic aspect is less of a serious issue IMO. This team will likely end up starting RoLo and KP and neither of them are actually slow for their size. Perhaps not elite but it's a team that will be built to play big. The SL could also be...

Jerian
Afflalo
Melo
KP
RoLo

That could be the SL and I think they'd be able to deal with any opposing lineup in terms of speed. Part of how to deal with that is to slow the game down with your own offense being very efficient and your defense getting stops and turnovers. I think the Knicks will be a much improved defensive team even with Jose and Melo in the mix.

You are down playing the athleticism of:

Grant
D.Will
Early
KP
Gallo

And overrating the need for athleticism. These guys can guard anybody more athletic than them:

Rolo
Melo
Aflalo
O'Quinn

You can counter athleticism with basketball IQ. I do it all the time at age 42.

We added some athleticism, and aren't going to be mistaken for the most athletic team, but we added more intelligent and savvy players who are team oriented and have the right attitude.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Heading into this offseason the Knicks lacked athleticism, toughness, defense, leadership and outside shooting.

They have added some pieces, manily toughness and defense and the rookies will bring some athletic chops and potential. Now we should pray that said youth mature and develop into all stars.

An NBA team without athletic ability? That's like a TV without a screen!

There are no teams in the NBA that are not athletic......

There are no teams in the NBA Development League that are not athletic.....

There are no teams in my gym that are not athletic......

The only teams I ever saw that wasn't athletic was my 5 yr old team and watching a 50 and over league game......

Think about the most non athletic NBA player to ever play the game, and I bet he's more athletic than any knick fan on this site.....

The term athleticism has taken it's own definition......

I wouldn't dismiss cleanthony. He's entering year two and looks solid and athletic. Off the bench could be trouble.
Let's go Knicks. That's amare

We had a chance at drafting an elite athlete in Stein, but you were very much against the kid. The Knicks made a huge mistake in my opinion with Porzingis; specifically, given how poorly we have been when it comes to signing good FAs. We had an opportunity to draft a freakish athlete in Stein and Lyles or Booker.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

I was big on WCS but I think Phil was taking a chance on great upside. KP also has great athletic ability for a kid as tall as he is, it's rare to see his agility and quickness. Only WCS has more athletic ability at 7' but of course skill wise KP may end up being a better offensive player while still being a defensive presence. It's way too early to suggest that the Knicks made a mistake taking KP. He's more than athletic enough for our needs and along with the other kids we have this team is plenty athletic enough. I guarantee that we'll have plenty of highlight reel dunks this year.

Let's just say Derrick Williams' Indian name is Wild Gazelle.
KP is extremely athletic for a 4 or eventual 5. Grant is a very good athlete.
Not a trove of athletes but the triangle will still work well and had we picked athletes over systems guys, you probably would have started a "Why didn't we select systems guys instead of athletes thread."

You are right.
I think when talking about athleticism people compare other players on a professional level rather than in general.

I think it will be for the better. Anytime you have a system that requires a certain type of player it's going to work MUCH better when you have those players who fit that system. It just makes sense given the Triangle favors certain types of players that you'd want to get those players. This roster is now totally representative of Phil's moves. So we'll get to see how that actually works. From what I can see it's a very balanced roster in terms of skills, size, speed and athletic ability. Good BB IQ and selfless players who are known for being Team Oriented.

If only we'd acquired the athletic speed demons Frank Kaminsky or Enes Kanter. Even if we'd just gotten one.
