Yes; Sweetney had 25 pts and looked better. Ariza had about 20 pts and looked good again. Barrett had 11 and looked a little better, but I still don't think he'll make the roster. DerMarr was umimpressive and I think his Knick days are numbered. Trybanski left early with a minor ankle injury. The Knicks lost by 2 or 3.

Luke Walton had some awesome passes and the Lakers' PG (I forget his name) has a lightening fast spin move.

If Frank Williams or Moochie is traded, Barrett can make this team.

Yeah I watched the first quarter, Vujacic could start for the Lakers at PG, he is really really good.

I liked Barret, I think if the Knicks trade Frank and/or Moochie they'll retain him just on the IL. He's great at pressuring the other teams point from baseline to baseline, makes some steals, and from what I saw, doesn't turn it over.

First of all Vujacic can't run the point, that is a joke, the guy can shoot and that is it.. other than that he is a stiff..

Sweets looked good as did barrett, I would like to see him take moochie's spot, and ariza looked fantastic again, that steal and behind the back dribble and dunk was sick... I like this kid..

If this continues, Ariza may start to threaten TT's PT. A couple questions for the 2 games so far, 1) How did Ariza's D look? and 2) How well was Ariza defended?

Ariza D is very good, he has a nose for the ball, quick feet and plays the passing lanes extremely well... I am suprised that a kid that young puts that much effort into his defense but at UCLA that was a big part of his game..

"Vujacic can't run the point, that is a joke, the guy can shoot and that is it" I watched his game vs. the Spurs and he was awesome, and from what I saw tonight he looked good.

Maybe starting is a little too far, but I don't think the Lakers would be in trouble if they had him and Kobe in the backcourt together.

I'm excited about Ariza.

PG's need to penetrate, vujacic handles are suspect, he will do fine to be a spot up shooter in this league, but PG? no way...

Who else has thoughts of DerMarr? Other thoughts?

I am anxious to see Ariza sometime. He seems to really be coming through. I doubt he can threaten TT though, at this current point. Maybe after a year or so.

great to see ariza play like that. If we got one gem in this draft and crawford, we could already say it would have been a great offseason for us.

I'm watching the replay now on NBATV.

End of the first half, and Ariza concluded with 3 beautiful no-look passes through traffic, on consecutive possessions. I just love everything I've seen so far. If he shot 1 for 10 I'd still love this game just based on those 3 plays.

Sweetney in the post is really tough to stop. He might not have perfected his moves yet, but it's tough to move him once he starts backing you down. I like what I see. You cut down the fouls and there's the post presence for the Knicks.

I still like what I see from Barret. He hawks the ball, rarely makes a mistake, and doesn't pick up his dribble. He hasn't given up much on defense yet to label him as a defensive weak link. I hope they retain him if Williams or Norris is traded in the Crawford deal. Through him on the IL and if Marbury or any of the other PGs (Crawford, Penny) are hurt, he can come in and do a fine job in 10-15 min. of play.

Trybanski is funny to watch. He's trying really hard, but he just doesn't really look like he's on everybody elses level.

DerMarr Johnson shouldn't make the team. Ariza is head and shoulders above him. As Briggs said, if Ariza stays at UCLA another year, maybe 2 years, there's no way he ISNT a lottery pick. Knicks got very luck with him, very lucky.

agreed, ariza is already better than dermarr. he is so freakin' aggressive and he loves to exploit his advantages, especially trying to post up a smaller player. we did get VERY lucky with him.

sweetney, i think sweetney is going to be just fine. i don't know if he can be a 18&10 guy, but he can definitely be a 12&10 guy this season. he really is tough to stop once he gets it in the post and he's going to get fouled ALOT. he just needs to improve his FT shooting.

btw, allan who? just bring sweets off the screens and set him up for the 3. did you see that shot last night? sweeeeeeet...

one thing that is for sure. we have to give trevor a three year contract--the same as Boozers 2 years with a team option for 3 because he is the type of player--even with limited minutes who could end up leaving after 2 like an arenas. If you have a player who has shown the bonafides of a first rounder, than he should receive a 3 year lock down. I also think they will ultimately prefer Barrett over Norris because of three things.
#1 Barrett can hawk the ball 90 feet
#2 Barrett can handle and run the team in a fast pace
#3 He has a much better fundamental shot than Moochie and is 8 years younger. Hes a guy we could go Y-Y with a contract

I knew that C Marcus Douthit would be a steal for someone in the 2nd round. Hes very long and played very well against Uconn the 6 times they matched up. Hes got upside for the lakers and they made a good choice of Vujanic as well. A guy who can play combo guard at 6-7.

Jamal Who?

I'm extremely impressed with Ariza. I'm so impressed I think the Kid needs to see minutes now. Every time he touched the ball it was magic. He has awesome court vision and he was finding the open man and he had a superb handle. He was awesome on the drive and in the open court. He has a decent post game too.
I just didn't see him take a jumpshot.

The Lakers team was double teaming him and sent extra defenders at him every time he drove the lane. You would have thought he was Kobe or something. He is that good. I bet if they weren't so focused on stoping Ariza he would have had like 35pts easy.

Ariza was catching guys with some wicked passes too but guys were in shocked by all of sudden having the ball and open.

He needs to definately get a 3 year contract. He will wind up getting max money in 3 years just as Houston says bye-bye.

Ariza is a steal and thank God the Knicks have him.

--------

Sweetney showed a nack for finding the open man. He was passing out the double team really well. He also was the best inside player on the court as far as presence. You knew he was in there.

--------

Vujacic was the second best player on the floor. He was doing alot more than spotting up TKF....what game were you watching? He was giving Ariza problems. Thing about Vujacic...he wasn't seeing all those double teams. They were playing Vujacic straight up.
--------

Cezary Trybansky is a bum. He did have a furious facial against some guy. It was a basic fake and pivot move but Trybansky finished that dunk off like he was trying to break his own hand.

--------

Andre Barrett looks nervous. His jumpshot is good and his speed is good also but what about the fact that he can't get to the basket against NBA competition. He broke one of the few point guard rules and that is never turn your back when making a move. He was doing the LJ post up from 20 feet out. That is no good. He is a back-up so I guess he would be ok for 10 minutes.....especially since Ariza, Penny, and maybe Crawford will most likely get time at point guard.

Can Trev play the point? I thought he was a 2 or a 3 (more a 3)...if this kid can play the point at 6-8......Allan, Crawford, Marbury and Trev....

If you watched the summer league games, he clearly has the skills to play the 1, 2, or 3.

But the idea of him replacing Jamal Crawford is silly. Ariza has nice skills and I think he will become a good NBA player, but right now he's just competing against scrubs, 90% of whom won't make an NBA roster. Shandon Anderson is probably far better than most of the G/Fs in the summer league.

Sweetney had an awesome line...I love to see that.

Ariza is the kind of confident kid who plays with a chip on his shoulder. It seems like he's eager to prove something every time he goes out there, unlike a DerMarr or even a TT sometimes. It looks like he has a great set of secondary skills, and if he develops consistency on his jumper...watch out.
