Lin probably would have signed with Dallas had they signed DeAndre Jordan
His style of play/strengths FITS IN WITH DALLAS in how Rick Carlise wants to play with penetration, PnR's, and 4 shooting threats, to possibly 5 at time, with an aging Dirk
Chandler Parsons is a good friend of Lin's but Lin chose a team that pays him a bit more while he can still get more than the vet min
IMO, he should have signed with Dallas regardless, even for less money with a player option for 2nd year, to try to revive his career
Especially if Mavs could still trade for another Center like Hibbert, with shooters to space the floor like Wesley Matthews, Parsons, Dirk, and Charlie V, maybe even STAT resigning
Watching him in recent years, I get the sense that many players think he was over rated
Many players do not like him, feeling he wasn't worth the contract he got and didn't pay his due's for a contract of 3years, 25million deal
Not sure if any of this changes with his new contract for backup money
On the Lakers,
He appears to have loss a step last season, as teams always attacked him on DEFENSE, especially with a PnR, as he has trouble getting through and Lakers has a horrible DEFENSE with no shot blockers outside of Ed Davis
After leaving New York, in addition to losing a step after surgery, along with his role that fits in Dantoni's philosophy, it affects both his OFF and DEFENSE
Along with the lack of confidence and fan support that he got as the under dog, he is looking to play a team/backup role instead of doing what he did as a Knick
If Battum poor play last season was because of his wrist injury and he recovers back to his all round game/defense/with his length/athleticism/versatile skill set, Bobcats could improve much with MKG's (next season he will be in a RFA) defense and size with Battum, along with the addition of Frank the Tank that could play PF/C, and if Al Jefferson recovers back to a 20/10 play
Kaminski's role/versatility/HIGH IQ could help Bobcats improve just as Josh McRoberts helped the best year of Bobcats history
