Maybe we can get a trade for both Lopez as Clippers NEED a center and maybe could use a backup PG/SG as we take expirings of their hands, along with the Net's 2016 2nd rounder
Lopez
Calderon
for
Lance Stephenson *team option next season that we could look to trade*
Jamal Crawford or fill ins
150% rule
Net's 2016 2nd rounder
It would be a BIG YEAR for Hassan Whiteside, who looks like he would be a perfect FIT with KP, as they compliment each other
KP, will PULL out the PF, leaving Whiteside 1v1 down low, with CA, spreading the floor as well, so that leaves the SG and PG to help, with guards likely to be able to shoot, especially if it is Galloway/Grant Affalo, especially for Galloway as he improves, hopefully we can bring back Billups as a development coach and Rasheed Wallace as well for KP
Backup options for WHiteside include,
With other PF/C's being
Gasol *player option* shouldn't cost too much and with KP here he could reconsider joining us, especially if we can convince Durant/Whiteside to come
Noah *UFA* *should be good fit for Triangle and he gets to maybe play with CA and play a bigger role like he once did with Rose out*
Al Horford/AL Jefferson, both next to KP
Roy Hibbert *played in some sets in The Triangle and could continue it as Laker's still run sets there as well*, had his best years when Brian Shaw was the lead assistant on The Pacers when he implemented some Triangle sets/philosophies, change is good sometimes and needed, with Larry Bird pushing him to get better, Work Ethic has never been a problem for Hibbert as West said
So we will have to keep a close eye on Whiteside this year with a healthy roster, he will not get as many touches as he once did last season with Bosh out
More importantly how that affects his DEFENSE/REBOUNDING along with KP's abilities as he gets strong halfway in the season, and utilize his BB IQ and physical abilities with his height at 7-3 and could continue to grow with his length/mobility/athleticism
It could be a great combination TOGETHER and we NEED to keep in touch with his agent, if he in fact has interest in coming to New York, especially if KP shows that he is the REAL DEAL to form our TWIN TOWERS that are mobile/long/athletic
That was one of the reasons I was against signing Lopez at that price, while we could have signed Ajincia/Koufus/Lavoy Allen to cost friendly contracts, while they fight our minutes at PF/C at a backup price
Especially with Ajincia's length/mobility/athleticism, these players could easily be traded in the trade deadline if needed for assets as the cap will rise next year
However, if Lopez does do well, I can see Clippers making a bid for him with Lance Stephenson's expiring contract, 2016 Net's 2nd rounder, a future 1st rounder, and maybe a possible swap/another 2nd rounder, especially if they remain in the HUNT for a play off spot, they MUST pay for his services as CP3 and Blake Griffen are both in their primes, and Lopez
With the 150% rule and Lance's contract, it should be enough, however, we could force Calderon in the mix as they could use a backup PG of his caliber, I would be happy with just Net's 2nd rounder
If they keep Jamal Crawford, he would be an expiring, not sure when his salary becomes guaranteed but he currently only has 2m guaranteed...
Such a move would surely help us get Whiteside and maybe Durant or other SF's like Battum, Wilson Chandler, and Gallo
Also, Denver/ Toronto/ possibly Houston (they own our 2nd rounder) will likely HELP US in the process to SUCK, as they own our draft picks
If needed, to dump Affalo for James Johnson and Terrence Ross (expiring basically if they do not offer him an extension) along with future draft picks as they are going to try to contend
With 0 draft picks and 0 money left to spend, if we can get draft picks for Affalo, it would be nice, as Derozan is looking for a HUGE extension that may not be "worth what Toronto is willing to give"
Fuzaro is a player that withdrew late this past draft and is a player in Europe that Briggs was fond of
While not sure if we will find takers for Derick Williams with his player option
But he isn't UNTRADEABLE, I would like to get KJ McDaniels and DMO, though that is unlikely to happen, if Houston has no intention of paying DMO, they may move him for a pick, depending on the health of his recovery along with D12's
Denver gets the right to swap and already has said that Mudiay will get the keys to develop and grow, as he will go through rookie mistakes as Wall once did
So the Toronto deal for AB would really hurt us IF DENVER ALSO HAS A HORRIBLE START AND DECIDE TO GO DO A REBUILD, starting by trading Lawson first
Denver will likely trade Wilson Chandler/Gallo, in addition to Faried (all 4 players could net at least 4 1st rounder) possibly Hickson/Randy Foye for assets/draft picks, likely 2nd rounders, as they have been rumored to do
It all started when they were able to trade MoSgoV for 2 future 1st rounders, with Nurkic and Nikola Jovic *which was drafted last year and regarded as one of the better YOUNG PF/C's developing*
Mudiay/Eric Green
Will Barton/Garry Harris
Joffrey Lauvergne
Jusuf Nurkic/Nikola Jovic
