Jose does fit that cerebral/good shooting lead guard for the triangle but I'm sure he was also here to lure Gasol. Now that Gasol re-signed, maybe we trade Calderon to Memphis for Tony Allen. We lose offense but we add an all-nba defender who make 2 million less than Calderon for the same # of contract years. Then I would re-sign Sved.

I'm all about building a great defense around Melo & Porzingis

As Calderon becomes closer to an expiring he will be easier to move
If needed, we throw 3m to a team willing to take on his contract NEXT summer, and a 2nd round pick that is looking for a veteran to mentor a young PG/TEAM
His value could get higher if we actually have talent around him with players that could actually penetrate/facilitate, making him the 2nd ball handler like he was with Dallas with Monta Ellis
That is why Bird signed Ellis and Stuckey, because they have George Hill which is a better version of Calderon in terms being able to play both on and off the ball and is a solid defender that could defend 2 positions

With CJ Miles and Paul George being, Rudez could also shoot like Novak, able to spread the floor and having great size, while Solomin Hill will need to work on his shooting, he is a solid defender, along with Lavoy Allen/Mahimi/Miles Turner at the PF/C spots

Always thought Calderon & Marc Gasol were a package deal..apparently not
