C Lopez
F/C O'Quinn
F Porgingis
F Anthony
F D Williams
G Afflalo
G Calderon
G Grant
G Galloway

Obviously we have other guys to fill out the roster, but seems like this could be the 9-man rotation, maybe with the addition of a 10th man, either Jason Smith or Bargnani.

Who starts? Does Porzingis actually get a shot to start, or do they not want to put that pressure on him, and start Williams instead?

I also think Calderon gets the first crack at PG, at least out of respect, and Galloway and Grant split both guard minutes off the bench.

Thoughts?

I think Calderon, Afflalo, Anthony and Lopez definitely start. I think Williams or Porzingis start at the 3/4. O'Quinn, Grant and Galloway will be a really fun second unit.
I'm tired,I'm tired, I'm so tired right now......Kristaps Porzingis 1/3/18

I think O'Quinn starts at 4. Calderon, AA, Melo, O'Q and Lopez start.

I agree. The 2nd unit will be a lot of fun. Hoping either Williams steps up or Porzingis overachieves as a rookie. We need one of the 2 to happen.

franco12 beat me to the Calderon situation.

Wonder what kind of shape Calderon is in when he arrives to training camp? I think you should bench him if he starts coming up with those nagging injuries that older guys who are out of shape seem to get. Prigs is older than Calderon and knows what it takes for an older player to keep a competitive edge- if Calderon comes in to training camp out of shape...figuring he he will just use the time to get in shape, I don't want him on the floor.

I'd rather have Galloway and Grant get more minutes.

I would start KP at 4 and adjust his playing time according to how he is doing, but at a minimum, he should be getting 20MPG. Have no problem with O'Quinn getting more minutes at PF, but you expect that he will be used at C, too.

Hopefully Early shows us something in SL and training camp.

If Jayson Smith is signed, he will also get some time on the floor.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Well this all depends on Derek "everyone must play" Fisher.. He never establish a roll for anyone, not even melo, he just kept playing different line ups (in what seem like) every time the whistle blew.

9 to 10 men only, any time you go beyond that, your going to get inconsistent play.

Usually it's tougher to have a set rotation when you have a lot of players who are all pretty much at the same level. When you have a huge gap in talent between your starting level players and the rest it's much easier to settle on a set rotation. We still have some issues in that regard. It's going to take a little time to establish who deserves to start and be in the rotation. Melo and RoLo are the 2 locks to start. Jose could be a starter but we have to see what he's about physically. It's very possible that Jerian and KP could be starters depending on how they look in Summer League, Training Camp and Pre Season.

This is the same thing I'm talking about, you can't go through 2 to 3 months of the season juggling your rotation. I don't understand you sometimes. When woodson didn't establish a rotation until we were 18 game under .500 in january, you killed him.

The year before that the rotation was set from training camp, and we got off to a 15-4 start.

The one thing that's going to have an impact is the fact that your top 9 are not on 1 yr contracts,. The first 3 thing that have to be establish before you even step foot on the court

1)Contract
2)Role
3)Minutes

When players are comfortable, they have a better flow, can focus more learning the system, and the role he'll have in that system.

I wouldn't be surprised if they went with a small ball lineup of:
Calderon
Gallo
Afflalo
Melo
Rolo
But most likely will be:
Calderon
Afflalo
Melo
D.Williams
Rolo

Last year was a little different because the roster was basically exiting so you have to look at different guys. This year, I think the starting lineup will look like this...

Calderon
Afflalo
Anthony
Porzingis/Quinn
Lopez

The other of Porzingis/Quinn
Grant
Galloway
Williams

Porzingis and Grant need to be in the rotation somewhere right away and have to be allowed to play in order to develop. Porzingis should be playing 20-25 minutes a night or so and I'd say prefereably in the starting lineup, and grant should get that same type of thing.

Wonder if AB is getting any offers from the League, I could surely see AB/McGee/Thabeet/Larry Sanders/ Edoh *barely played last year but familiar with system* even Jermaine Oneil, Boozer, maybe Byron Mullens who played for Rivers/Clippers for awhile before he was cut/released, with a combination of talents to replace Jordan's production as well as backups to give Clippers some PT to rest Blake Griffen
Clippers are contenders and will draw interest from VETS and players that could earn a bit more money by going to a play off contender as incentives with their weather

They still have the rest of the MLE left from signing Paul Pierce, while they still need a starting Center, backup PG, backup SF, and backup PF/C's
The UFA's that played for us last season could have a role for the Clippers

Along with unloading Early for Thanasis, we could possibly sign and trade players like AB/Shved, Cole Aldrich, maybe Acy/Ledo/Travis Wear, and Lou Amundson/Jason Smith are some players that they could surely use
They own Nets 2016 2nd rounder as an incentive, possibly another future 2nd rounder as well, while Jamal Crawford's contract is not fully guaranteed or NON guaranteed, at worse 2m of his 5m contract is guaranteed

Unless Dallas does a multi team trade (with Cleveland's Brendan Haywood/Nets Joe Johnson with other teams) to give Clippers a trade exemption and some rotational players, *which Clippers would need to give Dallas some incentive* to do so
As Clippers could still be a competitor for a play off spot if they add some serviceable talent to replace Jordan and stock their bench

I would NOT be surprised if Noah is eventually dealt with Gasol playing Center as well, as they have Bobby Portis who can contribute right away, along with expanded roles for Mirotic/Taj Gibson/Doug McDermott too and vet mins to breaking up MLE for 2 players with acquisitions like Boozer/STAT/Scola/Edoh for lower roles/better spacing
Chicago has always been cheap, while selling Noah right now if they can get assets, with Jimmy Butler's raise, and they still have the FULL MLE to utilize

Bucks may also unload ZaZa Puchula expiring with the Greg Monroe's signing in addition to Henson's/Johnny O'Bryant expanded role, with Jabari Parker/Giannes, Damien Inglis's development who was the first pick of the 2nd round, with OJ Mayo (playing SG/SF) and Rashard Vaughn (who was drafted this year to provide 3pt shooting/spacing)

Is the 9-man rotation set? And who starts?
