Last season when Lebron left back to Cleveland,
Miami somehow managed to sign

Deng to 10m deal
McRoberts with the FULL MLE
Danny Granger to BAE money, not sure if it was actually the BAE

Napier who was a later 1st rounder, yet managed to have THE FULL MLE, not sure about BAE, and sign Deng with cap space

I know New Orleans has a portion of their MLE left and a Bi Annual Exemption as well

I am wrong, there is ONLY the room exemption of 2.8m left as we went under the cap to use the cap space that New York can use
Though I do not think it is enough, I hope we are able to sign Wesley Johnson which I think would really help our team and help Thanasis's development
With Derrick Williams and Lopez both being greatly overpaid and Affalo with a starting salary of 7.5m with a slightly discount, if we can add a young player like Wesley Johnson who also has experience in the Triangle with Derrick Williams and Head Assistant Kurt Rambis would be a great fit, in fact I think he holds more value than Derrick Williams, *with Williams value ranging from anywhere from vet min to 3m at best*

On top of that, for the prices we paid, we should have been able to have team options added or substituted with unguaranteed money to Affalo/Derrick Willams (instead of player option) and partial guarantee for Lopez.... If they all agree to take slightly less, I would love Wesley Johnson and using the room exemption for one of our better UFA's whether AB or Shved

Also Ajinicia was signed with early bird rights to a 4year 20m deal, while Cole Aldrich was signed to 2 straight vet min contracts (in which we only had the tax payers MLE regardless last year that we used on Jason Smith, so not sure if we needed to keep his vet min bird rights to Cole Aldrich in order to have his early bird rights but there was NO REASON not to do so
At the very least we could look to sign and trade him with Shved to Clippers and maybe Early for Net's 2nd rounder next summer that we may be able to use on Fuzaro, along with another future 2nd rounder from Clippers, while we take back Jamal Crawford's salary which is unguaranteed or partial guaranteed as they added Lance Stephenson already and Crawford is old, we could use his ability to spread the floor/hit FT's and maybe use his contract as a salary dump for future trades or right away....

Thought there was a loophole as Miami was able to to resign their own players but somehow managed to squeeze in Luol Deng/Danny Granger/Josh McRoberts and some vet mins players with 1st rounder Napier
Which is kind of confusing, as they used over 18m in cap space to sign these players but managed to still have the the MLE, not sure if they had the BAE for Granger or just gave him a contract at that price, along with 10m for Deng, with late 1st rounder Napier, in addition to all the other players they managed to sign these players with CAP SPACE and exemptions

Last year Miami signed FA's that they did not own bird rights to
=====================================================================

Luol Deng 10m with cap space
Danny Granger about 2.1m (so with cap space or exception, not sure if it actually with a Bi Annual Exeption or just the numbers that a BAE would make) about 2.1m)
Josh McRoberts MLE for 4 years

Shawnee Williams

Andre Dawkins (was signed and then waived a couple months in to the season, didn't list some 2 League players that didn't make the first game of season)

players signed late in to the season

Beasley
Bill Walker

Players that they owned draft rights

D League/2nd round draft picks (2nd rounders use cap space or exemptions), unlike 1st rounder's with guaranteed salary)
==========================================================================================

Justin Hamilton was in the 2nd year of his contract, signed a contract 3years ago, though was drafted earlier, eventually was traded

James Ennis signed last year and was a "rookie" but was drafted 2 seasons ago

Tyler Johnson

Whiteside *PERFECT FOR THE TRIANGLE along with Gasol/Noah/Horford as other options (was the deal of the D league last season with Robert Covington that Briggs has loved during draft and his first 2 seasons with his potential, hoping we would pick him up in the Dleague, 2years later in the D league, Riley found a gem for free basically, though they will NOT have bird rights on him and need cap space to sign him to the max deal, though he will only have 4years of experience after this year, so his MAX is much less than others, even with the rise of the projected cap, would be about 22m (while this summer, Greg Monroe had 5years of experience this summer and his max was roughly starting about 15m, maybe 15.5m, which was why he wasn't going to take a discount as he already is a discount with the projected rise of the cap ON TOP OF making much less than he could have made by signing the qualifying offer so he can choose which team he was going to sign with, I think Monroe might have considered taking 15m or about 500k less than the MAX but reports are that Phil Jackson offered him about 13m *probably waiting for a counter offer in which resulted as an insult to him because he wanted to go to New York with the Triangle, with Robin Lopez's starting salary at about 12.5m with 4.5m raise each year, if this is true Phil Jackson made a HUGE mistake, at the minimum he should have offered Monroe a contract at 14.5m which would be a 500k to 1m discount already not including the projected rise of the cap next year)

FA's with Bird rights that Miami resigned with bird rights
================================================================

Chris Bosh MAX

Wade taking less than what he could have made as he OPTED OUT even though he didn't want to, so Riley could possibly resign Lebron, Bosh, Wade, their RFA's, and still add talent after losing to The Spur's in the Finals, he is unlikely to make up the money that he lossed by opting out of the 2years of what he could have made
Though Heat could still pay him a reasonable amount of money, like 12m a year on a 3year deal, depending if Durant would join The Heat, or target another TOP tier or 2nd tier player, along with resigning Whiteside and Deng as well for next season when the cap will rise 20m and continue to go up significantly

Chris Anderon about 5m per year and is an expiring this year

Mario Chalmers about 4m per year and is an expiring this year

Haslem just 3m per year and is also an expiring, he took less back in 2010 so they could sign Lebron, Bosh, and resign Wade, and he is the "heart and soul" of the team

Napier (traded for him and his salary is guaranteed as a 1st rounder) they could pick his 3rd year up NEXT year or let him walk or trade him

How the next 2years affects us, FA's, and Miami as they are one of the stronger teams both vets and young talent
Whiteside will be one of TOP FA's next summer if he keeps his play up for scoring, rebounding, shot blocking, defense, and could hit FT shots for a BIG
With his youth, length, strength, size, athleticism, he would be a GREAT FIT WITH KP skill set and physical abilities
Miami, like EVERY OTHER TEAM, does not have a real advantage on signing him, as they do now own his BIRD RIGHTS only EARLY BIRD RIGHTS, so he is a realistic FA, while his MAX is about 21m starting salary, while other MAX like Durant will be about 30m

Not sure if we will have the FULL MLE to use next year as almost every team besides for teams that already have 80-100m payroll committed will be under the cap, which would be a huge advantage
Hope that this STATE TAX advantage gets answered with Adam Silver, as we already have propery/cost of living against us, as Florida/Texas teams have a huge advantage to build and keep talents, along with signing undrafted talented and Houston constantly does this and flips them for picks/assets every season....

2017, Miami Heat NEXT SUMMER with the RISE OF THE CAP will only have these players on The Books
WILL BE THE BEST FA CLASS of both RFA's and UFA's, likely the BEST FA class EVER with the TV boom/deals kicking in

With Contracts
=====================

Bosh

Dragic

Justice Winslow

James Ennis *not sure if he is a RFA but would be a 3rd year player* With W

Napier *would be his 3rd year if they pick up his option, as 1st rounders are only guaranteed the first 2 years of salary but likely will and let Chalmers walk if Tyler Johnson, Napier, along with Zoran Dragic
improves much, with possibly Wade playing some PG on OFFENSE as well if they resign him to a much smaller deal* Mike Conley is a UFA and was underpaid his last contract as he took a discount

Early Bird rights on
========================

Luol Deng *could keep him or look for other options with many FA's available next summer, like Wilson Chandler/Gallo/Battum, MKG and Harrison Barnes are RFA's, along with Justice Winslow's development as a 2nd year player

Tyler Johnson

Dragic's brother, Zoran Dragic *they he isn't as bad as Chris Smith, he was brought in the NBA as Goran Dragic felt he was underpaid, especially with Bledsoe making a MAX, Sun's signed Dragic and paid him more than the minimum, at about 1.7 and more at a 2year deal, was traded with his brother to Miami*

Bill Walker

Whiteside will demand a MAX contract so early bird rights would be useless though not sure if they can trade him, and should be priority #1 though there will be other FA's such as Durant/Lebron, Al Horford, Gasol *player option*, Noah UFA, AL Jefferson/Roy Hibbert, Battum, Derozan/Conley, Bradley Beal (RFA) and many other UFA's and RFA's, available and player/team options, in 2017/18 with Curry/Westbrook/Derrick Rose/Ibaka, including CP3 and Blake Griffen, Gordon Hayword with player options, Ty Lawson, RFA Noel

NEXT SUMMER, 2017 lower tier role players
other FA's like Speights/Hickson/Randy Foye, Spencer Dwinwide *think he will be a RFA*

Bird rights on team but could let some walk or resign to smaller deals
=============================================================================

Wade could be resigned on a much smaller deal to retire as a Heat, with Whiteside/Durant as FA's, Heat could look to sign both talents or likely try Whiteside and another UFA like Battum/Wilson Chandler/Gallo
With Durant and Lebron leading the way for UFA's but will be VERY EXPENSIVE, could look to acquire one of them, and an older Center like Gasol/Noah or PF/C Al Horford

Birdman, Chalmers, Haslem

Philly and Boston along with many other teams will have many draft picks and the ability to offer 3 MAX FA's like Durant/Lebron/WHiteside or Derozan/AL Horford, Pau Gasol/Noah/Hibbert, and many 2nd/3rd tier talents to go with many YOUNG talents to serve as role players/bench if they can convince multiple TOP TIER or 2nd/3rd Tier's talents to go with their rookie scaled contracts
This would be Philly's chance to go ALL IN before Noel is eligible for an extension and depending on

Dwight Howard can opt out though many GM's/Teams no longer consider him a MAX player and with health concerns, that extra year in salary that Lakers could have offered might have saved The Lakers and come back to haunt Howard,

RFA's next summer
========================

while Andre Drummond/Beal will be RFAs with many in that FA class like MCW, Harrison Barnes/MKG/Tony Wroten (as he recovers from surgery, next year will be a RFA)
As Lilliard and Anthony Davis have signed extensions already that are the LARGEST rookie extensions so far of the entire NBA history at 120m-150m 5year deals

whats your ?
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

1- We only have the ROOM exemption of 2.8m, do we own Cole Aldrich's early bird rights as he has played 2 seasons with 2 vet mins in a row?

Ajincia was resigned after 2 vet min deals for a 4year deal at 20m, while they also have 2 exemptions left, 1 Bi Annual Exemption of about 2m and 1 MLE that they used party already to resign Dante Cunningham, with about 2.8m left on another exemption, holding the bird rights to Norris Cole as well...

2- Miami last season, signed 3 FA's with cap space and exemptions, on top of their bird rights with players listed above
So Miami used cap space and exemptions to sign these players, was Granger and McRoberts both signed with BAE and MLE?
If so, how did they do this while we are unable to achieve this while Miami did?

Luol Deng at 10m
Danny Granger at BAE money or did they have 2 exemptions like New Orleans has this year? not sure if they had both the Bi Annual Exemption along with MLE which they used for Josh McRoberts
Josh McRoberts at a FULL MLE 4year deal

James Ennis *though he was drafted at the 2nd round, he was signed to a 3year deal, while selected 50th overall, was this with cap space? Can we do this with Thanasis to avoid poison pills in the future*

rest are vet mins

- Shawnee Williams
- Andre Dawkins (was cut a couple months later though)
- Beasley and Bill Walker (halfway toward the end of the season, think they both played in China)

In addition to all the other players they resigned as they owned their bird rights/early bird rights for Chris Anderson/ Cap space to sign James Ennis to a 3year deal?

loss Lebron but resigned these players

- Bosh
- Wade
- Chalmers
- Chris Anderson
- Haslem
- Napier

3- For the upcoming season with the rise of the cap, do ALL TEAMS get to use the MLE, as majority of the teams will have 20m or so extra in cap space, except for some teams like Golden State/Cleveland/OKC *if they resign Kanter and Durant, maybe New Orleans with AD's contract, which are currently high paying tax teams, or do just those teams with 80-100m + in payroll get to use the MLE next year and the following years as the cap jumps significantly each year? They will have a clear advantage if so, as the only teams with great depth and the only teams that are over the cap that have the luxury of using the FULL MLE which will rise to 8m +???

4- Is the Room Exemption available every other year only, along with the Bi Annual Exemption? With the way the cap JUMPS, do we have just cap space to use without any Exemptions to use?

5- Will we have the MLE to use next summer as we do not have it this year?

6- If we resign a couple of our vets from last season that played like Jason Smith, AB, Lance Thomas, Lou Amundson, do we hold their early bird rights?
By doing so, we could GO OVER THE CAP next year? And have FULL MLE available with LOW CAP HOLDS? Is this a loophole?

7- For a player like Derrick Williams, does his contract GO UP with the cap, with the 5m player option, eligible for a raise as well? So the cap goes up would the 5m become 7m + raises for instance? or Does it stay as a 5m + raises?

8- Will vet min will be shooting up significantly, with the cap? If so same thing for vet min, if we sign 2year vet min deal, does the 2nd year GO UP or stay the same if it is a TEAM OPTION or 2m guaranteed?
If next years vet min goes up, it wouldn't make sense for many players to sign anything more than a 1year vet min deal, unless we have total leverage on a D League/UNDRAFTED player that is unlikely to be in demand and basically will be making a HUGE DISCOUNT if it is a 2year deal, like a 2year deal with team option on Lou Amundson?

9- With players like Jason Smith who had a tax payers MLE last year, if we sign him to a 1year vet min contract, this summer, do we have his early bird rights NEXT summer?
Same for others like AB, Cole Aldrich, Lance Thomas, Lou Amundson, Ricky Ledo? Are early bird rights attainable only through 2year vet min deals like Ledo would, or could it 2 1year vet min deals?
Along with Jason Smith/AB, can we keep their BIRD/EARLY Bird rights for next year by signing them to 1year deals or do we need to keep their qualifying offer's in order to have early bird/bird rights of their cap holds?

10- Can we package ANY OF THESE players in a sign and trade this summer?
Especially for the first 3 players, if Lopez, Affalo, Derrick Williams, maybe Kyle O' Quin are willing to take less to retain their cap holds?

Cole Aldrich
AB
Acy

Lou Amundson *think we could have IF we didn't waive them first*
Travis Wear
Jason Smith

I thought you had to come into the offseason already over the cap to use the MLE. Only for those teams over the cap. Isn't that the deal? Could be wrong..
I was wrong about possibly MLE but can someone explain...
