Anyone else watching?

My comments at half time

Sweetney's body looks great! I bet he's lost about 10 pounds since the end of the playoffs. He hit a nice jump hook in the post too.

Chris Kaman looks great too. (I'm not sure if part of it is due to Trybanski and Chen being awful on defense, though)

ARIZA looks awesome! He's a very good ball-handler, takes it to the basket great, and can post up. He looks like a steal at pick #44. He'll definitely make the roster and he's probably way ahead of DerMarr. I think Ariza can play the 1, 2, or 3 in the NBA. It'll be a slow growing process for him; I don't know how much time he'll get his rookie year in the NBA, but he has a lot of potential.

BARRETT did not impress me. He played okay, I guess, but I thought he'd push the ball up quicker and be able to penetrate better.

DERMARR was unimpressive

ZECH MARBURY looks so much like Steph in physical appearance that it's really funny. He's very quick and had a few great steals. I think he played better than Barrett in the 1st half.

TRYBANSKI gave up at least 20 points to KAMAN in the first half alone. TRYBANSKI's already 24 and he can't guard Kaman. He has no future in the NBA.

I am watching the game also, Ariza is the real deal, the kid has all the tools, and I like barrett also, he can play....

I liked what I saw from Barret, I thought he did a good job initiating the offense and moving it through transition.

Ariza was very good, I'm excited about him. He could get time at the 3 it looks like, he's very versatile.

Trybanski hopefully is traded in the Crawford deal, he stinks.

Sweetney looked good, but he does stupid hacks a lot, I guess that led to his 8 fouls.

ariza looked awesome. dermarr is gone, especially if we get erob in the deal. there's no room for him.

kaman looked good and played aggressively but it had alot to do with our 7 foot stiffs.

sweetney is going to be a really solid player. i still think he's not ready to start b/c of his defense but i like his aggressiveness on the offense.

It's hard to judge just from one summer league game whether Sweetney is whether to start, but let's just say that that one game didn't help convince me that he is.

I like Ariza a lot. We have to keep in mind the level of competition he was playing against, though. I don't know how much he'll contribute in his rookie year, but I'm optimistic about him in the long-term.

I heard they are gonna show the game on MSG tonight at 6:00, is that true? That would be sweet since I don't have NBA TV.

comments, to me demarr johnson is done. hes just a soft player who can have a moment here and there with incredible physical talent, but you win in this league with players who are consistent and have heart and he has proven over a good period of time that he is not a heart player good bye
ariza looks like what i thought he would--a first round pick in the top 13 if he waied a year with better all around talent than Johnson. obviously he will be a knick

just one game but dissapointed in sweetney i wanted to see several dominating performances and for him to come out and look like he did [not his physical appearance but his play] was awful. of course its only 1 game and im expecting him to put up 2-3 17 point 10 rebound games without committing 9 fouls.

barett-- he did pretty well but will be hard pressed to make this team no matter what because of our roster spots.

big men chan and cesary are not going to make it not even close.

on the other hand you can see why i hyped kaman. kaman is a good shot maker and a legit 7 footer with size and uses it well with enthusiasm and heart+skill. He was IMHO way better than anyone on the court IMHO.

I can't find a boxscore but here are a few stats I remember:
Pts/rbs
Sweetney 12/5 (8 fouls)
Ariza 22/6
DerMarr 9/4
Trybanski 5 pts

Kaman 20 first half points (then left with a quad sprain)

Thanks for the stats. Obviously it sounded like Ariza did great from what you guys were saying, but that's a really impressive first outing.

Sweetney's line dissapoints me a little. I want them to force the action to him...constantly feed him in the post. IT seems as if it takes him a while to adjust to the action sometimes. I think if they force the issue with him a little more, that's when his game starts picking up. The sluggishness on defense is somewhat worrisome...I think that's more of an expereince thing. He hasn't really played enough to adjust to the speed of the game and gets caught hacking and going for fakes. I think that improves with more playing time. He was a pretty good defender in college.

Was Chen really that bad ? Damn, we need a big man really badly. I actually like Motumbo, but the slow footedness is a problem with running the floor (although i dont think its as big as a problem others make it out to be). Nazr Mohammed is not the answer at center because of his inconsistency, inability to finish, and poor shooting form. We really needed to get a big man and outside shooter this offseason or we're going to see the same results as we did last season, maybe even worse.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Chen was about the same as trybanski on defense. I think that Nazy would score 40 pts, grab 20 rebounds against Chen in a 48 minute scrimmage game

game 2 vs. the lakers and ariza looks pretty damn good again. looks like dermarr may be out of a job.

sweets has been rebounding and has been more aggressive in the post. they need to feed him more - they don't call enough plays for him.

mark my words, Ariza will be one of the best players in this draft, the kid has all the tools, he is young but he has poise and a load of talent....
