Knicks late news of moves is a positive

But again Frank Isola (whom I like & tweet)
seems he's picking on Phil Jackson for barely doing anything last 24-48 hrs, or barely making a ripple.

Last time I checked there are NO KDurants, NO Westrbooks, no blue chip #1's in 2015 FA class.
What's he/frank expect ? when other NBA players FAs has plans outside of coming to NYC the mecca
Phil J cant work miracles, it takes time to woo folks into Knickland.

I am not doing cartwheels
but feel with our Knicks current situation the Knicks are doing ok in past 1/2 day and have some interests in roster improvements
before Oct/Nov. 2015 NBA season.

Wasn't Frank one of the NBA several media guys whom reported 2months or so back that G.Monroe to Knicks was "Done Deal" ? ?
what happened there.. Phil J didn't mess that up

He backed off a bit once info on the Lopez deal surfaced.

...But he is also being critical of Phil resigning Anthony

He is horrible. The only good thing about Frank is he answers emails and replies to tweets.

Isola has an agenda. He just can't get past his fight with MSG. Can't really complain about Afflalo. He came cheap and has enough ability to get the job done for now. RoLo is solid on D, which we needed. I'm not happy about missing out on one of the top guys but Jordan seemed to be impressed with the Pitch and hasn't said no yet. That is at least a small victory.

The going meme in the media now is that New York and Los Angeles Lakers are dinosaurs that are out of touch with current reality. I don't think NY is in the same boat as LA. Even tho NY isn't the sexy destination it once was. Most of that is about the record and roster. That's why building this thing up gradually is the right move. Make solid moves, have some success next year and attitudes will start to change.

He's looking for things to criticize, but has not been that terrible starting with the draft.

Phil's signing of Anthony, whatever Dolan's role was, is fair game for critique, IMO, especially since Phil's pre-draft interviews and his draft indicate an interest in a more moderate rebuilding program.

I like the Aflalo and Lopez deals, and expect to see some other pickups, but neither is a foundational free agent at this time, although lets face it, the guy many wanted, Monroe- went for what is essentially a 2 year deal, which is hardly a deal a team will be able to count on when building a future.

Isola and Lupica SUCK. Just out to sell papers and their own agenda. These guys are the lowest of the lows. I really am embarrassed for them. I think since Phil doesn't give them insider info then they rip hi every chance they can.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

the pelicans just signed AD for damn near 30 million per,(did they even win a playoff game yet) and there's a serious belief that KD will get upwards of 5yr 200 million starting next season.

Damion lillard got 4 mill less the melo, and he hasn't done anything note worthy, or LMA wouldn't be circling the country looking for a new home.

Monroe, gets 16 mill, and never made an all start team, or any other note worthy season awards. Its time we stop making a big deal about the measly 22 million melo is getting.

Not sure the money is the real issue, here, and I think you know this.

It is about what "rebuilding" means, and how you go about doing it.

Not sure the Knicks can be "retooled" into a serious contender with Anthony as the flagship player unless you pick up a prime FA, and the prime FAs don't want to come here because we are not a serious contender. Classic Catch-22 situation, unfortunately.

So you try do things through the draft, which wastes Anthony's talents in some ways, even if it does work, but then you realize that the previous front office basically screwed up, and took a perfect "tank" pick for 2016 (if we had traded Anthony instead of resigning him), and might have to swap picks with Denver in 2017, the last vestige of the original Anthony trade.

Maybe KP and Grant mature faster than expected, and Hernangomez is a combination of Scola and a poor man's M. Gasol. Maybe Phil finds some other talent we've overlooked. Who knows. We might still be a contender with Anthony in his later years, but I think discussions about his resigning are pertinent when looking at how Phil is attempting to change things around here, and what seemed to be a shift in philosophy starting with the draft.

I'm tired of Berman and Isola writing those doom and gloom columns, but they are just trying to make their money- and I usually just block them out if they are not saying anything new.

i hate isola hes obnoxious and annoying but i have to admit he's rarely WRONG (hes just an ass about it).
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I hate that whenever there is a reporter on tv talking about the KNicks it is always Isola.

Agreed on the agenda 100%! I disagree with the media take on why NY and LA aren't desired spots. They are a huge part of the problem. Obviously, they wouldn't call themselves out but there is no pleasing them. Avoiding them is a good decision by players. On top of that, the tax issue can't really be ignored until somebody stops the trend. Players continue to choose cities with lower tax rates. It can't be a coincidence. Their advisors have to be pointing them in the direction. Nobody is gonna leave in some cases 8 figures on the table. That's really asking a lot.

Yes. Forget about the clear anti Knick agenda from both. On their merits, the two of them are intolerable. Boring, total lack of insight and vision, and especially with Lupica, an outdated didactic approach to commenting on sports. Sounds like someone twenty years older than he is.

When I hear Lupica's squeaky, stammering voice on the radio, I switch the station faster than when that horrible cars 4 kids ad comes on.

You are not being honest with yourself.

All you have to do is look around this very site and see that folks still have an issue about Melo and his contract.

You can also see that, while everyone TALKS about rebuilding the "right way" (whatever that means), members of this site were having complete meltdowns because Phil didn't offer MAX contracts to players like MONROE and MATTHEWS. Its ok to overpay these 2nd and 3rd tier player because the cap is going to "skyrocket" next year BUT lets keep bringing up Melo's contract.

Knicks1248 is spot on with his post.

The other guy that has tried to stick it to Phil a lot is Sheridan. Phil has moved on but Sheridan feels a need to get revenge or something.

Isola is a empty read who adds nothing of substance. Unfollowed him a long time ago for tweets from Woj, Herring and Sheridan.

True dat,

But Isola seems to be all over the place in views
he writes one thing then comes on ESPN TV and at times contradicts himself on same topic

One days he gives props to Phil and Carmelo
Then on sportsreporters he rips them on same things he props them on...

Interesting take
