I don't get this.

Unless the plan is to stretch Calderon.

Looks like we are trying to put together a solid mediocre team. I can see the headlines later this year regarding Melo trade speculation.
Without having a pick next year, it is going to hurt if our top 10 pick goes (again) to another team. Getting old...

I am not for overpaying as Monroe was, etc. I'd go for some Defense in Robin Lopez and get Shved on the cheap.
I do see that Beverly can D it up, so on 2nd thought, go for the D team.

A backcourt of Beverly and Galloway would go a long way toward improving our defense and increasing our transition opportunities. Beverly isn't my first choice, but I'll take it.

Maybe we have a trade lined up moving Calderón for a front court player (maybe to sixers for Thompson?)

Bevereley isn't a NEED RIGHT NOW, we have some talented players on our SUMMER roster that are PG and PG/SG's with a bunch to choose from, all from Europe and some drafted/undrafted at some point in the NBA
It should be a CAP friendly contract IF HE IS WILLING TO SIGN one, one that we could trade for assets if they do not match, AND NOT OVERPAID like Parson's contract

Our incentive should offer put in a position that Houston VERY LIKELY WILL MATCH
Like last year, it would limit them to 3 day to acquire talents and make room with trades to acquire talent b4 Beverely's cap would go against Houston's ability to spend

Unless we trade Calderon in the process, possibly if we trade for Calderon with AB, as Clippers has quite a few positions to fill with an aging Crawford/Pierce and NO STARTING CENTER
It could eventually be a 3/4 team in a multi team trade, with Bogut or/and Lee to Clippers (though it would help their contenders, as Festiz Ezili *will be RFA next season*/Ognjen Kuzmic *who has great size and did very well last season in the D League* is a RFA with a QO of $1,147,276, would all get expanded roles as well as possibly Speights/Lee *if they keep Lee* while resigning Draymond Green and resigning Harrison

Barnes's are both much more important to the DEFENSE of GS with their versatility, as Bogut has had health concerns every year with the least this past summer
SO it could be the perfect time to cash in and Bogut could have a positive value as well, though they would likely pair him with Brandon Rush's salary of $1,270,964, which would combine to a bit less of what Lee's contract would be while trading David Lee at the trade deadline would not cost much, though if they want the FULL MLE vs TAX payers MLE *who have been rumored to Marco Belinili who played for GS the first 2 years of his career

We probably owe Atlanta a HUGE favor, though I think Hardaway can SHOOT, we didn't have players to could constantly CREATE and draw double teams for him, and I do not think that he has a HIGH IQ and is gunner like JR Smith *in which we had a TOXIC development staff and "veteran" that are not veterans and needs to be babied*

So I think Portis could contribute RIGHT NOW and be part of our STARTING future, while Decker could be a Keith Van Horn/Chadler Parson type player with under rated athleticism/skills/defense with a very HIGH IQ as well with Kaminski and Grant

Though we should be very happy that we traded Tim Hardaway JR for a 19th pick in a VERY STRONG draft class with a lot of talent remaining, I felt we were better off drafting another position such as
Bobby Portis (who I feel is the BIGGEST steal of the draft, Winslow just went to a good team but Portis was a TOP 12 pick that dropped to 20+ who was ranked higher than Frank Kaminski)
Or even Sam Decker, Kaminski's Robin, or Brigg's pick Justin Anderson (who he felt was a worthy of a 6th pick in reach)

Though Grant is surely a steal and can contribute right away, with his negative being his age, but a positive for our roster/system
And he would be a rookie scaled contract for the upcoming years with a skill set to get to the rim and shoot, so I can see why we drafted him, that could play PG/SG, we have some PG's already in addition to our Summer League and possible acquisitions the next 2 seasons with Galloway, possibly Shved/Lin *for a cap friendly deal*

Justin Anderon is compared to a young Ron Artest, maybe Ariza, with great size/length/wingspan to play SG/SF, also great physical talents/versatility/strength and Briggs really liked
With the 35th pick, we drafted a player that was more to show our 4th pick in KP, that we were FULLY invested in him and not a future trading pawn, while Syracuse 4year player comparable to Taj Gibson in
Rakeem Christmas, along with some SG/SF's, while our 35th pick has HIGH IQ but is lacks athleticism/mobility/physical talents to play against NBA talents though is only 19 and very smart

Missing out on Portis as Greg Monroe signs with a much better team in The Bucks that could compete with him right now especially with their new additions, if MCW or/and Giannes developes a 3pt shot, with Jabari Parker #2 as well

With Carroll making 15m, Millsap making 20m a year, Monroe is WORTH every penny of a max deal who took less in order to be in position to go to a team of his choice, despite his weakness's (though he would be better at Center but isn't the best shot blocker/help defender) I mean Amir Johnson got 2year, a 24m contract, with many others cashing in, so we will know in 2-3 seasons if these CBA prices change the entire league, with us making a poor decisions in keeping CA just because we traded an entire roster for him and Dolan didn't want to look bad as he forced the trade himself and lose him for nothing
Had we NOT kept CA, KAT would be a Knick, though I am very happy with KP and his ceiling, while he costs less too as the #4 pick, and could have signed LA/D Jordan, and Wesley Mathewws, or if CA took a REAL discount, we could have signed 2/4 in Monroe/LA/Jordan/Gasol, and still have at least the FULL MLE to utilze with Cole Aldrich's early bird rights and low cap hold

We likely will be missing out on LMA/Jordan but feel we should try to sign either one of them, with Dolan being an active owner as part of this recruiting process....
Especially if we do a trade for both or even one of them....
If not, we will be able to trade for David Lee and he would be good in this system and would help mentor our young roster, still be kept for a cap friendly contract as we evaluate him this year, as he didn't get to play much last season, maybe he could return to his ALL STAR STATUS as W-CW or White Chris Webber as Shaq use to call him....

That was why I I felt we were better of using the draft pick for another position, with Bobby Portis ready to contribute RIGHT NOW and still has POTENTIAL to be an ALL STAR talent, who is VERY COMPARABLE to a Jeremaine Oneil, with good mobility/strength/length at about 6-10 (without shoes), 245-250pds with a 7-1.5 wingspan, a 3 year player that is 20years of age
Esepcially if we signed Jermaine Oneil to guide and mentor him, whether as a player first and then development coach after, while he could eventually play PF/C but contribute RIGHT NOW as he plays ANGRY
With the way the LEAGUE is evolving towards small ball, he has a MID RANGE shot like JO, with similiar skills/weakness's
It buys us time for KP to develop as KP could likely play some SF if our PF and Center are both mobile/athletic, especially if they all could shoot, like LA (for REBOUNDS and OFFENSE) or DeANdre Jordan (with DEFENSE) KP could use his length/mobility on OFFENSE, especially vs 2nd units to LOCK DOWN a position with half contested DEFENSE and still play as a HELP DEFENDER for REBOUNDS and SHOT BLOCKING with his HIGH IQ and WILLING DEFENSE

Especially after Monroe (who is closer to a Center, signed with The Buck's that will be contenders in the East with their improvements with their young core and health of Jabari Parker)
They could be ONE Of the TOP 4 teams in the East, as the East is getting tougher with Bobcats improving much

And maybe we sign Biyombo on a cap friendly deal, after missing out on a GREAT STEAL in Ajincia for 4year 20m deal, feel his ability to spread the floor and his great length/mobility for hi size/athleticism
That would allow us to play multiple different lineups

Beverly may be coming here not for just PG play
but for some "Chris Childs" kind of toughness, don't know if Beverly is worth the $effort

But I do like tough guys in NY whom knows? Beverly like Childs takes no mess !

I think Calderon to the Sixers makes a lot of sense.

Beverly and Affalo is a pretty nasty backcourt on D ... if only we could get some bangers of the street for the interior we could be a throwback 90s team. Walk it up the court. Phil wants to zig while the rest of the league zags.

I'd be for it. We saw how much of a problem it was for GS when CLE played that way. But then CLE benched Mosgov and were undermanned anyway and it crumbled.

Beverley basically is Childs/Ward incarnate - that's not really a compliment, but he's a hard nosed guy, plays defense and gives effort. He's just not a PG who can make plays for the team. If you play Melo ISO Ball all the time I guess you don't need that. if you play a true triangle you don't need that.

Unless Phil is channeling Kahn, we must be looking to deal one of our existing PGs. I just hope its not Grant. I will be happy if we move JC

I love his defensive tenacity but Beverly is a low BBall IQ player. I think he will be lost in the triangle.

kennedy has been saying this for a few days and seems to be the only one.

I'd much rather offer Joseph a offer sheet now while SA is trying to have enough space for Aldridge.

Offer sheets can't officially be signed until the moratorium is over. San Antonio would know by then if they were getting LMA or not.

The triangle requires the PG running up the court, passing to Melo, and standing in the corner. I think he'll be ok.

I'm not sure he has actual interest in coming here though. He's likely using us to drive up his price like most FA have been doing.
