with talks and articles everyday revealing that crawford is closer and closer to coming to ny, it looks like the days of shanderson on our team are coming to an end. and i must say this is a hell of a bargain. F will, big O, Deke, shanderson for J Will, J Craw, and Robinson. Only thing im hesitant about is J craw's pay at 6-7 year 60-70 mil, what was wrong with the 4 year 38 mil? i wonder if going with stephen jackson for the price pacers got him at would have been a better alternative... jackson has fire, heart, and he can be a viscious rebounder. i'd have to say crawford might be alil overrated. only time will tell.

I'd rather have Crawford than Jackson. The idea of having two lightening quick guards for the next 7 years is too appealing to pass on.

I don't think anybody in there right mind even thinks of Houston as "lightnign quick". The obviosly had Marbury and Craw in mind lol. Houston will soon take over the torch from Jax for being the slowest guard in the NBA lol.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

do you really think steph will be lightening quick when he's 35... look at payton, perfect example, i think the end of marbury's years will look a lot like houston's right now

Knicks: Agent sees Crawford ending up with them

Sunday, July 11, 2004

BY DAVE D'ALESSANDRO
Star-Ledger Staff

The sign-and-trade scenario the Knicks are considering in their pursuit of free agent Jamal Crawford would give them a $100 million payroll for the 2005-06 season, only the second nine-digit cap figure in NBA history.

And though Crawford's agent, Aaron Goodwin, says nothing is going to happen before tomorrow, he seemed confident that his client will end up as a Knick next season.

For whatever the cost, and regardless of how complicated it may get.

"They're trying to get something done," Goodwin said. "There is other interest besides New York; we just felt that New York and Chicago can get something done. So we hope it comes to fruition, or we'll have to look at other options."

There are numerous permutations to the sign-and-trade transaction, one of which includes nine players. Along with Crawford, the Knicks would be stuck with Jerome Williams, Eddie Robinson and Chris Jeffries. Williams and Robinson have lucrative contracts that run through the 2005-06 season. In return, the Knicks would ship out only two contracts that include multiple years -- those belonging to Shandon Anderson and Moochie Norris -- along with Dikembe Mutombo, Frank Williams and Othella Harrington.

After the numbers are crunched, the Knicks would pay Crawford up to $70 million for seven seasons, and it would also give them a $100.2 million payroll for 2005-06, second in league history only to the Trail Blazers' $104 cap-crusher in the 2002-03 season.

"But I don't think we're that close ... yet," Goodwin said. "I can only base it on what I'm being told by the teams negotiating, and that's not the indication I'm getting with that scenario."

The agent agreed, however, that the overwhelming cap figure would indicate that the Knicks will go any length to sign Crawford.

"I suppose so," he said. "That's not something I'm involved with, but they've got to make things balance out."

Knicks president Isiah Thomas and Crawford will "try to work something out" this weekend for a face-to-face meeting, Goodwin added. But nothing is likely to get done before Wednesday, the first day free agents can sign offer sheets.

Meanwhile, the Bulls sounded confident that an agreement is close.

"I know we can get something done," Chicago GM John Paxson told the Chicago Sun-Times yesterday. "We're also trying to get something positive done for Jamal, whether that's bringing Jamal back or trading him in a way that helps us financially or whatever."

If this deal goes down in the way the article speculates, the Knicks would have a ton of money coming off their cap after the 2005-06 season: TT, Penny, Robinson, and Williams.

That deal is huge and not a good one. I'd stick to the watered down version in the Daily News.

Frank, Othella, Cezary, and Shandon for JYD and Crawford.

Well, if the deal is as simple as that (4 for 2), I'm all for it. We'd rid ourselves of some redundant players as well as open up 2 more spots for experimental players.

It's strange---> I thought Kurt Thomas was a key component in the deal--- now his name isn't even mentioned!

We get the best player in the deal (Crawford) and give up the worst contract (Anderson) out of all the players involved. It's PERFECT. Too perfect.

If that is the deal- its not bad- Shandon and Moochie are owed a total of somewhere near $35 mil over three years

JYD & Eddie Robinson are owed around $32 mil with Eddie's contract over in 2 years.

I imagine we're going to have to pick up a pg in the summer league.

I just hope some type of deal is reached, I'm starting to get impatient...

Marbury will definately not be quick when he is 35. No argument there. But I honeslty think his game will evolve into something to match his physical limitations.
